Luke Brooks - Mega Thread

With the Chairman’s vote of confidence for Brooks in todays Tele it looks like we are stuck with him. (Sorry I can’t post link). Apparently it won’t matter how bad we play or how bad our record is, Brooks is here to stay.
I simply do not believe this chairman when he says (a) he cares about the fans or (b) about trying to create a winning club.
I don’t even blame Brooks. Not his fault he keeps getting selected. You can see by his fox interview yesterday that he has absolutely no idea. Instead of owning it he was calling out his critics because they haven’t played league before. So pathetic. (Sounds like he has been on this forum).

Whatever about that guy, but as long as we have this type of leadership we are screwed.

I really do cringe whenever someone makes this argument. I find it is usually the younger generation who don’t have a thick skin. He’d have been better off saying nothing at all.

Watch how the very best hookers hold up the markers and create space for others. It is an art form and chucking a newbie in there won’t end well. Simpkin is young and we have Api and even Rua. Let the specialists continue to develop. Liddle, next.

if the club was not prepared to do that to Tommy Talau to move to storm for JAC they won't do it to Brooks
Also he doesn't need to take a pay cut if he is getting 1.1 million and if no other club wants to chip in then guess what no pay cut 1.1 million is what he gets we can't force anything.
What the club can do is try and front load 2023 season now in 2022 and pay Brooks some of the money early to reduce next year's cap for him then try and offload him say pay 300k now, so he has 800k remaining and a club kicks in 500k we pay 300k on 2023 cap
Don't think Brooks should go anywhere until you see how Douhie comes back and also see if Madden can handle it.

I don't get the drama at all. Brooks isn't our 7 any more. It's onto Hastings now.

Don't buy into all the drama.

Brooks gets dropped by Madge and the coaching staff as soon as we have better options. If Brooks performs he won't get dropped at 6. He hasn't performed at 7 so he has been dropped from that role.

If we can get a good deal for him you'd take it. He clearly isn't a player we have to keep. How many trade deals between teams happen though. We can't do a deal with the Cowboys for Luc and Parra won't do a deal with us for Papalli.

We haven’t even attempted to make a deal for Papali’i. Sheens made it clear when we signed him that he was signed for ‘23 and not before.

pretty true if he fires then he stays in the team if not he gets replaced
 
Good move by Madge moving Brooks to 6. I think he is our best 6.
I recall Hastings tweeting from he uk that he was coming to Tigers to play 7, and though he would play anywhere, 7 is his best position. I’m really looking forward to watching this game.

I thought I read that Hastings was head hunted as a lock?
