As suspected for many years, Brooksy's natural game lends itself to the freedom of 5/8.
Simpkins looked really good out of dummy half.
Hastings was great at halfback and team leader.
Laurie finally started backing up in the middle of the field.
The spine looked really good and almost looked like they had been playing together for quite a while.
Q. What do we do with Adam Doueihi when he returns?
Brooks is a better 5/8.
Laurie better at the back.
Our backrow is settled and consistently our strength.
He may have to go into the centres? Not ideal.

That is a long way off. Let's see how they go over the next couple of weeks.
Atm I'd play Doueihi at fullback and maybe Laurie off the bench. Laurie looks like a mess taking bombs.
Will Brooks keep performing playing 2nd fiddle ?
Will Laurie improve ?
Do we get injuries ?

Geeze, AD is in the running for the worst fullback this club has produced. That would be the absolute last choice Id make.

He is safe under the high ball. How many chances are we giving teams because Laurie is struggling defusing bombs.
He is a strong runner of the footy and with Ken and Nofo or To'a we should get good kick returns. He can also ball play out wide.
He is slow and it's probably not his best position. It's more about fixing a problem area.

plenty of class players have seen centre as a demotion, AD is a guy who if he can wrap his head around playing centre like a spare 6 could be a revelation!

I rather Musgrove at the back than AD. He was dreadful when he played there before.

Its probably the only starting spot available to him.

Yea I know what your saying, but for me it's so important to get our best players involved. Doueihi showed last year he has the heart for tough carries, and also some moments inspiring defence. His reads on the edge are questionable, but his intent isn't.
I think he could be huge at 13. Ball playing, leaders attitude, and better suited to defend in the middle.
He and Jacko would ignite the team in the middle, leaving Brooks to play off the back of it.
It would transform the team.
Just my feeling.

It's 1 game but geez the Hastings/Brooks combo looked good.
I want to see them back it up over the next 3 weeks, give me 4 consistent rounds of footy.
