It was only a formality but it's been officially announced now.

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that halfback Luke Brooks has extended his playing contract with the Club for the next two seasons.

The new deal will see Brooks remain with Wests Tigers until at least the end of the 2019 season.

Since making his NRL debut for the Club in 2013, the former Dally M Rookie of the Year has played a total of 70 first-grade games in Wests Tigers colours, making his representative debut for the NRL All Stars in 2015.

A local junior of Wests Tigers, Brooks said he was delighted to remain with the Club he grew up supporting and has played his entire career with.

“I’m definitely excited to be a part of the future at Wests Tigers,” Brooks said.

“With the new Coach Ivan Cleary coming in, there’s a lot of energy around the club and it’s exciting to be a part of that.

“I’ve always been at the club and I love this club, so I think that made it a lot easier for me to stay here. I’ve played for a few years now and I really want to step up and take control of this team.

“I’m looking forward to growing further as a player and a person off the field, and doing that here at Wests Tigers,” he said.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said he looked forward to working with Brooks over the coming two seasons.

“We’re really excited to have Luke commit his future to Wests Tigers,” he said.

“He has the opportunity to play a leading role in building this Club towards its true potential.”

Wests Tigers CEO Pascoe said the he was impressed with the way that Brooks was maturing both on and off the field.

“Luke continues to impress me with how he is growing both as a player and an individual,” said Pascoe. “Personally I’m looking forward to continuing to work with him over the coming seasons and helping him to achieve his goals.

“Luke’s an impressive young man and we’re thrilled that he has chosen to extend his stay with the club for a further two seasons,” he said.

Nice to have it official. Hoping for Brooks to step up and play to his potential in the coming seasons.

Good stuff. I think Ivan Cleary will be really good for Luke Brooks. Once we get Chris McQueen into the side and Suli more games at centre. We will have a very solid Left edge.

Brooks will be a completely different player under Cleary. I'd imagine having his contract sorted would be a massive weight off his shoulders too. Hopefully he can start playing some good footy again.

Very happy with this been announced and once MM goes he will come out of his shell and play well..
Well done Tigers

If ever you need proof that players quotes in these announcements are put together by the PR department it's this. Brooks has never spoken that much to save his life.

Good to have it official, even if it was a forgone conclusion.

I think Moses has been terrible for him. He played his best footy with Anasta, an old head. I think if you put Widdop next to him, even Reynolds, he'll back at his best.

If Woods and Tedesco re-sign, we might get a quote along the lines of "I never wanted to leave"

Can't wait to see how he goes when he has more control, and "the Ego "has left.
I hope he can develope the talent that he has, could be really good. At least he wants to be here, so that's a start

I seriously hope that Brooks can come good without Moses next to him
He owes us bigtime, he quickly signed his reduced deal before it was taken off the table altogether like Moses.

Funny how players come out with those so called quotes once they've signed " i love this Club never wanted to leave " :blah :blah.

I think hel turn out alright. Farah stifled him for two years and now moses has done the same. Ivan is good at developing players so i think by the end of this year you will see him playing really good footy.

He just needs to simplify it. Kick well, put body on the line and attack straight

He needs a solid injury free stretch. He has chronic hamstring issues. To be honest I would give him a few more weeks off even if he seems okay. Hammies are not to he trifled with.
