His defence in 2016 had been oustanding. Very strong on contact. If there is one thing im confident about regarding Luke is that his defence will be as good as Andrew Johns. As for the rest of his game, well i do admit im losing confidence. Im also starting to wonder if Moses is a better player when Luke isnt in the team.

Watch that game again some of Brooks' arm grabbing defence on that edge was nothing short of embarrassing for a 1st grader. I coach local park footballers with better defence than he displayed today

They rolled through us embarrassingly the 2nd half. Everyone was grabbing. Sue got run past by Faifita 3 times. Judge Brooks on defending the egde when his forwards do there job and control the opposition pack. First 3 games he has hit like a truck. His defence im very happy with. Im not happy with his attack. His decision to run it on the last in our 2nd set of the 2nd half was under 6 mistake.

I agree I'm not happy with his attack and his defence has been spot on in the last few games hitting well with his shoulder… The part I can't agree with is arm and shirt grabbing has nothing to do with how the men in the middle are defending whatsoever... Making a choice to arm grab or hit with your shoulder is all about attitude and commitment in defence which he clearly had none of today... Just because you're getting rolled thru the middle doesn't mean Brooks can't hit and stick with a shoulder

I disagree Tigermac. Arm grabbing is a big result of the roll on our forwards allowed. Its about body positioning. When we control the ruck you have time to position yourself, but when u are on the back foot you feel like your drowning. And what do u do when u are drowning? U swing your arms. Its the same thing when a team is on the back foot, its panic stations.

Agree to disagree on this one sirro…

I think, much like Simona, he's getting overshadowed with all the ball going down Moses' side (and rightly so) meaning he's trying to make bigger plays with the fewer opportunities that he does get (much like Moses did last year before asking for a bigger share). His short kicking game is generally good, though I'd like to see him work on forcing repeat sets more and earning us control of the game, but I thought he took the line on well a few times tonight and with a bloke like Tedesco on your team it'd be hard not to want to go to him as often as possible.
I don't understand his defence at all though. When he's on he has great technique and can certainly sit down much bigger blokes, but he has some horrible misses in him too (someone else made a Benji comparison, at least Luke has some good shots too).

No, he's not worth the sums being thrown around, but he's 21 and learning how to pilot an NRL team surrounded by his mates (which I think might be detrimental to his development but that's a whole different story). I don't mind us taking a chance on him because he's proven himself in our pathways through the lower grades, we don't have an obvious replacement and there's a pretty sizable ceiling on him, I just hope the club is smart/realistic enough in our next offer to him.

Brooks has zero confidence out there right now. I think he's just lost passion for football tbh. Moses is the complete opposite. Dies for the sport.

Brooks is out of form, much like the left hand side….simona's couldn't beat bird in contrast kev was given a lesson by their left hand side.

I think Brooksy looks more like a 5/8 to me. He is at his best a little wider from the ruck and gets more time. He looks better when he runs the ball at this stage and is not up to running a team round the park. He is a better individual rather than team player.

In terms of his re-signing, I think it will probably be best for Luke and the Tigers to part ways. I think he needs to play 5/8 outside a Cooper Cronk or Jonathon Thurston. The pressure is removed and he can come in and out of the game as he pleases.

I don't think the Tigers can afford a Broses or Mooks partnership. They're not experienced enough and need on-field mentoring and guidance. We need an old head who will control the team and take the right options otherwise it could be years before the Tigers have the success they so desire.

I believe Moses is probably showing more than Brooks at this stage and would make him the priority.

Has gone backwards at an alarming rate and continues to get worse.

Key aspects of a halfbacks game all poor. His kicking game is beyond dreadful. Unless something drastic happens, he's going to be another one who dominates at junior level but can't step up to the big time.

Agree. Looks down on confidence. One thing the Sharks backrow did particularly well was isolate him one on one on our line, first Lewis then Gallen. The result - 12 points.

I think he can be forgiven for the Lewis one in the circumstances the whole defensive line was at 6's and 7's with Tedesco going off….see what I did...

He has been running a bit more which I'd like to see him continue...

He did also have 3 TRY assists...

His mind is elsewhere … I wonder why....

I don't agree with the Brooks bashing. His attitude and power in tackles is good. The issue is his technique going low on forwards close to the line is just not going to cut it.The other issue our edge backrowers are not defensive intimidators or workhorses. If we have Lovett, Halatau, Siro, Lawrence as our starting and reserve backrowers our halves will always have issues.

The only way the Tigers do anything moving forward is Brooks, Moses, Tedesco staying together. We just need better forwards in particular left and right edge backrowers.

I would put JLJ back at 7….Moses had his best game with Brooks on the sideline

Yup this is as clear as day now….. Just gotta get out coach to follow suit. Not holding my breath tho

If you isolate someone like Gallen or Lewis on a half anywhere in the comp, they'll most likely score. You have to man up and read the opposition properly, and support your smaller men. Rankin and Lawrence should have done better on the Lewis try, and Lawrence had a terrible read and took nothing but air on Gallen's try.

Brooks was diabolical today in defence. When defending out wide, he had no idea, he would either rush in and miss the tackle or hold back and not make the tackle. The kid had no idea. He is much better when he defends close to the middle because he doesn't have to make a decision other than to tackle the bloke running directly at him. Although when Gallen scored he went low around the legs, when he had to go high and rap the ball up. Todays effort in my book was worse than Lovett last year when he was forced to defend in the centres against Penrith. He needs some time in state cup

In the presser Jt iterated that we did make some wrong decisions out there, running it on the last in the first set back. This from Brooks is just not good enough from a half that has been in the system for what 3 years now.
The sooner we break up our halves the better we will be.

Maybe him extending his contract option was the worst thing he could have done. He must be worried about. He wont get the kind of money the tigers a giving him elsewhere. i think he needs to play a much more simple game/controlled game. ie get the ball to moses on the 4th tackle and make a decent kick on 5th… got to say he looks busted...

Considering the WT mainly play one out settlers for a majority of there plays both halves should be in position on any tackle to get a clearing kick away, inexcusable really that on our first two sets after the break that kicks were not placed deep into shark territory from them.
