Question: did the rest of the side also hang tougher in attack and defence to make both halves lives easier in key situations? Yes
I don't think we can ask much more of Brooks at this stage. He didn't play great but it was a sure-handed effort and it made the difference. His few runs late in the game got us in a position where his attacking kick was fumbled.
Brooks played a solid game .. (nothing special) .. all of his kicks were mid field bombs .. he was pretty lucky Shibasaki (from Newcastle) had a shocker all day .. !! Brooks major problem with his kicking has been his grubber kicks for the in goal area .. I still wanna see Brooks consistently be able to put a grubber kick into the in goal so we can trap them there for a repeated set of 6 .. !!
So do I, but let him get the confidence and timing in all other facets of his game before he attempts one again. Laurie, MBye, Talau, Doueihi can all do this instead for now. Just let Luke be Luke. His put his trick bag away but it will come out once he gets the confidence to do it again.
Can I ask the last time you saw Brooks pull off a short crash ball other than the one to Stephano. That pass was superb!
