Just because you don't like that Sheens has backed Brooks have to dig up stuff from 2008.

Seriously get a grip.

I suppose a decade of failure does that .

Not sure why. We’re bottom 4 with or without him, better to take that money and sign a player actually worth what he’s on.

We cld find a solution that wld perform equally well for a fraction of the price

A solution that combined with what we are paying him to leave would come in less than what he costs us to keep him?

He says that HE is not happy..so why shld we pay a significant premium for him to leave?

Where di he say that?

It's been said on his behalf in the media. Nothing stopping him jumping on social media to say it's rubbish. His silence is endorsement. You might expect undermining a coach by BJ Leilua, but it cannot be tolerated by our halfback.

What I have heard is there are members of Luke's family that would like him to move on but Luke himself wants to stay.

If he wants to stay he needs to publicly back the coach. I've never been in the 'hate Brooks' club, but man am I sick of players undermining the coach/club.

What’s backing the coach publicly going to accomplish. There was a time Farah backed JT, which was clearly rubbish. Anything that is said publicly carries little weight.

We just went through very public turmoil over who our coach will be, and we decided to stick with Madge. It is just not good enough to then have it in print that Brooks doesn't want to play under Madge, and for Brooks not to deny that. Even if it's just for appearance!

I don’t think he’s under any more obligation to publicly back Maguire than any other player.

It is when his manager is feeding journalists the information in question

The highly reputable Isaac Moses..?

To be fair Brooks doesn't whinge about it but it's a constant theme. Brooks performances are always couched in terms of if he was at a top team he'd kill it as well as the problem being other players over call him.

I think they are both nonsense comments.

I don't think Brooks has been that bad. He won our best player last year and the sad thing is he probably deserved it.

We need Brooks to do a lot more though or we need a much better team around him. I think Brooks should be fighting for a spot next season. He should get a halves spot if he is one of the 2 best options we have. If not then he should get dropped.

We have to keep him because we do not have a tonne of halves available to us.

I rate Brooksy in our top 3 players. Skill wise probably our best?
He’s at least a top 8 half.
It would be crazy to move him on when there are more urgent shortcomings to fix.

It's about time someone said it!!
NO!! - He's not Hughes, DCE, Keary, Cleary, Reynolds
(Or maybe Moses)
But we are a Mid - Low level team....
We're not getting those guys.

Would you swap him for the Titans No 7? Probably not....
The Cows - No - the Broncs - No.. The Raiders - They Don't have one... The Dogs - No. The Dragons... 50/50
(He's had one good year in the last 5)
The Warriors - No...
Would you swap him for Chad Townsend or Matt Moylan at the Sharks - Hell NO...

It's not matter of being a Brooks fan boy - Or whatever terms you're using...
Get real people, Not everyone is a JT, Cronk or Joey...

He's not the Best of the Best.... But he's certainly Better than most of the Rest as it is - And will only be better.

We of all people should know how the media - including social media - can be significantly damaging and pose further threat or harm to our brand/operations(including recruitment), so it's good for PR management.

I appreciated the reference to Luke's team mates and family. It's especially gotta be hell for them and his words are also rather respectful to them IMO.

How much more harm could our brand experience?
We are already a laughing stock within the game and our recruitment department is disrespected/taken advantage of by all other clubs.
The only thing missing is an extremely well deserved spoon.

Sticking by a halfback who has failed for 8 years consecutively is not going to achieve this.

Are you comfortable trying to bully a woman?

Brooksy just needs a bit more around him , he does make plenty of errors but he loves this joint with all his heart

Yep Aceshigh , Brooks is not a team directer just like he is not a front row forward. That is not his strength in the game. He is a great runner of the ball. Its like when Peter Dip S Sterling( at SSO level) & Jason Dip S Taylor blamed Robbie for “taking over” the team calls. If Mitchell Pearce(in SOO) & Brooks dont have the skills to game manage what do you expect to happen when they are exposed? We move Robbie on & we get worse. Laurie Daley moves Robbie on & we lose the SSO. Some players, while good players are simply not leaders. I think Brooks will excel with the Hastings as the he wont have the pressure trying to manage the game . The passage of time he clearly does not have the skills to do so.

Brooks publicly whinged about Robbie taking over the team calls. It was on him that Farah was punted. He came out preseason and had a crack at Benji and said that last year Benji over called him and he didn't get control.

When he got given the control Brooks got worse and stood out as a terrible halfback. It was on him

Luke Brooks? Tigers Luke Brooks? I don't think I've ever heard him call out anyone. Barely heard him speak ever.

I know some mods don't like Brooks but I think if this forum is going to be serious about enforcing rules without looking like a dictatorship they should close any Luke Brooks threads.

This forum is incapable of not demonstrating emotional responses that don't come across as highschool bulling when it comes to Brooks.

Like sheens said false rumours and the talk around it effect Brooks family but forum contributors and mods time after time show they don't care about this when it comes to pushing their agenda.

Enforcing community standards, please don't treat us like idiots, this place has always been about enforcing personal agenda

What was it you were just saying about whinging?
This is an open forum. The rules and guidelines are being followed. Calling for threads to be shutdown because the content clashes with your views is sad.
People haven’t just formed their opinions on Luke. It has come from years of evidence. He is still young enough to make his name. It just seems more and more evident that it has to happen somewhere else.

I've been called a fanboy and I have never blamed Brooks performances on someone other than himself.

We need Hastings to be our main play maker because based on past seasons I can't see Brooks leading us. Brooks may be able to slot into a secondary role.

Sheens has proven many times that he is a poor judge of what makes a good 7.

You mean except that part where he signed Scott Prince and brought through Robert Lui?

@Snake makes the same mistake of associating the inability to sign a good halfback, with the lack of knowledge to know what a good halfback is. I am almost certain you are referring to Johnny Cronk, who is really the only other half that Sheens had, and I am certain that was more about available options than pick of the litter.

It would be the same illogic to say Trent Robinson is a fullback expert because Roosters were able to sign up Tedesco to replace RTS.

It can’t be qualified but that never stops the author trying to claim the higher ground by stating it can’t be proven wrong.
It’s laughable nonsense.

If it can’t be qualified as you say, how can you know it’s nonsense?

The whole premise of saying it is nonsense. It is more often used as a slogan rather than personal opinion.

Maybe if you didn't focus on the thoughts of others it wouldn't be bothersome for you. There's also something wrong with the fact you've taken a swipe at my post because you can't control it.
I'd for once like to support my team without having to deal with negative and passive aggressive people.

…and I would like to see my club succeed.
Sticking by a halfback who has failed for 8 years consecutively is not going to achieve this.

Are you comfortable trying to bully a woman?
Why engage with someone who you clearly disagree with, for the simple sake of an argument?

hhahaha what a pissweak reply...
The sexist card eh?
pathetic

It was perhaps an error of judgement to play that card.

It doesn’t take a man to point it out…

Doesn't matter if I'm male female or those other new ones these days
If it were the race card, the gay card... Any card, I'm calling out that post for what it is.
Falsely accusing someone of bullying is pathetic
Online bullying is very serious and has led to suicide from genuine victims... Its Nothing to make light of

Lauren's posts are always well considered and insightful. I hope Lauren continues to post her contributions.

+1

Who is getting bullied ....

I dont understand your point (genuinely)?

About 4 posts above yours someone mentioned about someone getting bullied .....was asking the question ....

I dont know, I wasnt keeping up with it all, saw a heap of deleted posts, saw something that Lauren posted that may have been ill advised and a mistake but I am simply adding my +1 to the statement that Laurens posts are generally well thought out and well expressed and she is a valuable contributor to the forum.

This is not to absolve any bullying, I am just not aware of it.

I rate Brooksy in our top 3 players. Skill wise probably our best?
He’s at least a top 8 half.
It would be crazy to move him on when there are more urgent shortcomings to fix.

I'm sorry I just don't see this skill. His long kicking game is below average, his short kicking game is pretty much the worst in the NRL. His decision making is atrocious and he doesn't have the ability to pass long meaning opposition defensive systems can close down his side easily.

Apart from the Bulldogs game I've never doubted his heart or effort, he's a good ball runner and a solid defender for a man of his size. But his skill set is very limited

He didn't so much whinge about it but he did use it as an excuse.
Spoke about both in some of his yearly "I own the team" puff pieces.
Said he had been guilty of going into his shell and letting them overcall him and control the game at times.
Nothings changed... this year was Doueihi.
I'm really hoping we get Hodgson.
With dominant players like him, Hastings and Doueihi in the team he will be the odd one out and the team might get some real direction.
