Sheens statement articulates that the club are unified in its decision making and possibly averts any crisis.
We of all people should know how the media - including social media - can be significantly damaging and pose further threat or harm to our brand/operations(including recruitment), so it's good for PR management.

I appreciated the reference to Luke's team mates and family. It's especially gotta be hell for them and his words are also rather respectful to them IMO.

How much more harm could our brand experience?
We are already a laughing stock within the game and our recruitment department is disrespected/taken advantage of by all other clubs.
The only thing missing is an extremely well deserved spoon.

I just feel he is waiting for something to happen at the club, but at the same time passively resistant to anyone trying to take the lead - players/coach. If he doesn't back the coach the club and he just have to call it quits once and for all.

Wests Tigers Director of Football Tim Sheens has issued the following statement regarding halfback Luke Brooks.

“Luke Brooks is contracted with Wests Tigers until at least the end of 2023 and, contrary to media speculation, will not be leaving the club.

“Luke is a proud local junior and an extremely talented halfback, who has shown an unquestionable level of commitment to Wests Tigers over a number of years. It is clear that he remains an integral part of the long-term plans of Wests Tigers and, in speaking with him, he too is equally focused and passionate on delivering sustained success for the club.

“Wests Tigers have been definitive on this matter and will continue to reiterate this against any untrue speculation. It is unfair on Luke, his teammates and family, as well as those involved with the club, to raise false conjecture on his future lying away from Wests Tigers when both he and the club are united on delivering success together.

“I have known Luke for a long time and am continually impressed by the way that he carries himself both on and off the field. I look forward to working with him again to give the proud Members of this club the performances and results they deserve.”

Outstanding. Not because one agrees or disagrees with the sentiment, but because the statement has been made with firm conviction. Finally a statement from somebody at the club who doesn't sound like they are way out of their depth. Maybe we have finally filled that leadership hole.

Exactly what the club has been short on. We have some good people who are happy to lift when the wind is at their back but we’ve lacked those who lift their game run into the wind. The true leaders. Thanks for underscoring that!

I know some mods don't like Brooks but I think if this forum is going to be serious about enforcing rules without looking like a dictatorship they should close any Luke Brooks threads.

This forum is incapable of not demonstrating emotional responses that don't come across as highschool bulling when it comes to Brooks.

Like sheens said false rumours and the talk around it effect Brooks family but forum contributors and mods time after time show they don't care about this when it comes to pushing their agenda.

He’s at least a top 8 half.
It would be crazy to move him on when there are more urgent shortcomings to fix.

Agreed it is obvious to all especially the other clubs we are a soft team that can’t defend. I would hate to be playing NRL with our pack. Last year they were KOE level and that’s obvious at least to that matter.

Brooks won a dally m halfback of the year not long ago with one of the weakest forward packs in front of him the guy can play if he has better organising players around him such as Hastings & Hodgson.

Every time Brooks has played with organising players he has whinged publicly about "Not having the keys". He's a myth

I also doubt that he's said anything...
It's moreso been reported in the media that "It's his team now" and "Given Brooks the reigns" etc...
I remember him being quizzed on it in interviews and agreeing that it was his job.
But he's never come out and complained about anything - Much less about the control of the team.
The negators in one breathe will complain he doesn't talk - Or doesn't say anything... Then say he complains about his role in the team.
It can't be both.

It's been said on his behalf in the media. Nothing stopping him jumping on social media to say it's rubbish. His silence is endorsement. You might expect undermining a coach by BJ Leilua, but it cannot be tolerated by our halfback.

What I have heard is there are members of Luke's family that would like him to move on but Luke himself wants to stay.

If he wants to stay he needs to publicly back the coach. I've never been in the 'hate Brooks' club, but man am I sick of players undermining the coach/club.

What’s backing the coach publicly going to accomplish. There was a time Farah backed JT, which was clearly rubbish. Anything that is said publicly carries little weight.

We just went through very public turmoil over who our coach will be, and we decided to stick with Madge. It is just not good enough to then have it in print that Brooks doesn't want to play under Madge, and for Brooks not to deny that. Even if it's just for appearance!

I don’t think he’s under any more obligation to publicly back Maguire than any other player.

It is when his manager is feeding journalists the information in question

I'm not a Luke Brooks fan at all, but good on Sheens for coming out and putting the story to bed.

As much as I'd like to see Brooks move on, until we have someone better to pull on the number 7 we should stick with him.
