You put Brooks in one of the top teams like Storm or Roosters & you will see the difference he is not the problem.

Brooks is on par with Brodie Croft… he would have been punted.

Let's not be silly now. Brodie Croft is another thing entirely.

I actually think Brodie Croft comparison is fair and accurate. The reason Brooks is still in the NRL is because he plays for us. If his input was same at Broncs/Storm as it is here, he would've been moved on for sure. Brooks at his best though can be a Ben Hunt.

Looks like he’s staying for now at least for 2022. I’m sure Doueihi’s injury has a lot to do with it and it probably makes sense.

I did think it would be best for both parties to part ways but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen, so hopefully the inclusion of Hastings, return of Sheens and improvement in assistant coaches lead to better performances from Brooks.

I'm sick & tired of all the Brookes "namby pambies & fanboys" making pathetic excuses & being his defenders of their mindless faith of his nuff nuff abilities & bog average game day performances.

You wait 10months to drop this pearl of wisdom on us? Doesnt seem like an alt at all.

Your frustration is understandable and many others share your pain. If only there was an echo chamber where you and everyone who shares your opinion could go and scream at the clouds.

Wots the point of putting the slipper into the bloke , he is here for 2 more yrs , so we gotta suck it up and throw our support behind him and the team

Yes I agree with this.
Had he come through those types of systems, he would have met the same fate as a Brodie Croft or Kyle Flanagan.
We on the other hand, went all in promoting him as the LOCAL JUNIOR (the 2 most destructive words in Rugby League) that would lead the team to glory. It has hurt him as well as us.

I've just caught up on all the weekends posts and man this place is really depressing at times. I've never seen so much negativiy and agression towards others. There really is a massive issue here and it has nothing to do with the team we all support.

It's off season and the supporters have found someone to vent their season'sdisappointment on. Nothing more, nothing less. Many of these cryi out "Why doesn'r the club support its juniors!", yet Brooks is a born and bred junior who is one of the best tacklers in the team. All he needs is confidence but he won't find it from the windging supporters.

Brodie Croft can't tackle. That's the big difference. Attacking wise there's very little difference

Sheens statement articulates that the club are unified in its decision making and possibly averts any crisis.
We of all people should know how the media - including social media - can be significantly damaging and pose further threat or harm to our brand/operations(including recruitment), so it's good for PR management.

I appreciated the reference to Luke's team mates and family. It's especially gotta be hell for them and his words are also rather respectful to them IMO.

How much more harm could our brand experience?
We are already a laughing stock within the game and our recruitment department is disrespected/taken advantage of by all other clubs.
The only thing missing is an extremely well deserved spoon.
Next year…

Maybe if you didn't focus on the thoughts of others it wouldn't be bothersome for you. There's also something wrong with the fact you've taken a swipe at my post because you can't control it.
I'd for once like to support my team without having to deal with negative and passive aggressive people.

…and I would like to see my club succeed.
Sticking by a halfback who has failed for 8 years consecutively is not going to achieve this.

Are you comfortable trying to bully a woman?
Why engage with someone who you clearly disagree with, for the simple sake of an argument?

hhahaha what a pissweak reply...
The sexist card eh?
pathetic

It was perhaps an error of judgement to play that card.

It doesn’t take a man to point it out…

Doesn't matter if I'm male female or those other new ones these days
If it were the race card, the gay card... Any card, I'm calling out that post for what it is.
Falsely accusing someone of bullying is pathetic
Online bullying is very serious and has led to suicide from genuine victims... Its Nothing to make light of

Lauren's posts are always well considered and insightful. I hope Lauren continues to post her contributions.

Not always... Notwhen they falsely accuse others
of bullying

Lauren's balanced and reasoned posts certainly are out of step with many posts on this thread. This was especially so yesterday. She is a great poster and I enjoy reading what she writes.

Good for you. Obviously never been accused of sexism by her due to disagreement? There is nothing balanced about that, hence her deletion of her own posts…which ironically is quite reasoned.

Come on ... looking at them they could almost be brothers.
I put Brooksy between him and the non performing Ash Taylor.

The thing is though, if the club was to move him on, Brooks would get another gig. Croft hasn’t.

Truth is no7 is a very difficult position these days..yr expected to lead the team around the field, but also take on enormous athletes constantly targetting you in defence.
There seems to be either the really "good"7s ..Cleary/DCE/Reynolds /Hughes/Cook/Pearce/Walker and maybe a few others who are emerging...and then there are the fringe dwellers like Brooks/Taylor/Flanagan/Deardon and Croft who have been found wanting in one of the above areas
The difference is all the other fringe no7s who have struggled to establish themselves have been punted by their respective clubs, with many losing high $$ contracts in the process..and being virtually unemployable
but we extend Brooks and increase his salary regardless??
And ***as weve hired his immediate and long term (hopefully) replacement,***I wouldnt be standing in Brooks way if another club wanted to take him
Win/Win

None of you blokes think it might be a good idea to see how this Hastings bloke actually goes in the NRL before we ship Brooks off?

8 years of constant Brooks failure not enough for you?

Yes the posts have been deleted and the person is taking a break from the forum for a while. We can end the discussion on the topic now. Any further posts on the topic will be deleted.

I will say something relatively positive. At least there’s something worth discussing in this thread the last day or two with the Newcastle talk and the Sheens statement. Unlike the last month, when it was dead, yet the desperate’s insisted on spamming the thread just to keep the topic alive.

This is the thing, at least for me. I’ve been labeled a Brooks fanboy, and the truth is I have no issue with him being moved on as long as there is a better replacement. If we had signed Reynolds or someone of that calibre, I’d personally pack his bags. Some are wanting to pack his bags over Jackson Hastings though, which is hilarious. I mean, at least aim higher.

Everyone laments missing JAC, LM, TPJ here. In hindsight Adam Reynolds would have been the best for our club.

Well, decision made by the sounds of it. I support the team but I have such a low expectation of Brooks I will be very happy if he can get it together. If not , by at most halfway through the season, the knives will be out again for both Brooks and Maguire. I hope it can be turned around but please allow my doubts after 9 seasons and its everyone else's fault except Brooks. Brooks has to fire in the first half surely or that's it isn't it?

He’s at least a top 8 half.
It would be crazy to move him on when there are more urgent shortcomings to fix.

Agreed it is obvious to all especially the other clubs we are a soft team that can’t defend. I would hate to be playing NRL with our pack. Last year they were KOE level and that’s obvious at least to that matter.

Yes, you can tell a soft side defensively when their half is doing 20 tackles per game.

And Brooks would have Half a dozen clubs after him if he did leave - The afore mentioned players don't / wouldn't / Didn't

Well, maybe Newcastle would want him if Pearce goes ... and maybe the Bulldogs.
You're wrong about the other two.
Croft was given another chance at Brisbane after Melbourne didn't want him. Taylor was poached from Brisbane to the Titans.
Both failed.
If someone was silly enough to take Brooks they'd get the same result.
What you see is what you get... he's not going to play any differently no matter where he goes.
Just wish he wasn't stinking up our team.

But you see how the top sides operate with the decisions of the Roosters with Flanagan and the Storm with Croft

They don't cut it and are unsuitable ...and they are gone quick smart .....

We need to take something from that .....too many players are given far too long to make it here
