Luke Laulilii #290

I think the forearm across the head didn’t help him how Moses wasn’t sinbined for that hit
Because he was tackled across the body, Luke went left with the tackle. He he been hit flush and Mitchel not have the momentum going across his body it may of been a sin bin or penalty try. The moment the tackle was made on Luke he was overpowered and moved towards the touchline, a hit on the chops didn’t change that.

That’s your opinion and you makes some fair points, but I cannot see us transforming into a genuine top 8 team without a blueprint for certain positions and it’s clear to see how clubs such as Melbourne and the Bulldogs do it.
The Bulldogs only have big, tall, strong and fast wingers across all grades.
That’s not because they are discriminating against short and slow people, it’s because they know it’s important to have these attributes as a winger to help their team win games.
I will say Turuva has exceeded my expectations and has been great for us so far despite a couple of costly errors yesterday, however you are asking for trouble if you do not have at least one big, strong, tall and fast winger in your team line up.
That’s why a roster needs balance to allow like for like replacements, if Turuva is out then Luke Laulilli comes in, but if you lose your big, tall and strong winger in Skelton due to injury, you need someone similar to replace him,
I know, that's why we signed Skelton. There's every chance we're at least one win better if Skelton has played every game.

And I agree, the squad needs continued improvement. We came into this season knowing that depth was an issue and it hasn't taken long for it to bite us.

This club was a long, long way behind the rest of the league in nearly every area. And as much as we all want Top 4 right now, it is near impossible to achieve such a turnaround so quickly.

Squad balance and depth is, as you say, is still lacking. That's one of the next steps on the ladder. To be able to not let a couple of key outs derail a campaign.

He's at least 18 months away from first grade. No other club would throw in someone so underdone and raw. It's a real pity he's on an NRL contract, along with many others who don't deserve it yet

He may well buck the trend and become one of those pint sized stars, but for now he's simply too small and inexperienced to be playing in the NRL. Nothing wrong with that, he's just a teenager. He's not meant to be playing first grade yet..!

Very brave under the high ball..and still just 18
Tough for a short arse winger to compete with skyscrapers ....but To o does it every week,so it can be done
.Needs strong carries and perfect finishes to be in NRL

You seem to know a fair bit about the grades under 1st grade BB, do we have any bigger players coming through besides Makasini and Moors, surely with our huge junior area they are not all midgets?

No, pretty much every player we have in must grades is well below average size for their position. A couple of forwards at the magpies aside.

A lot of clubs have several players with Makasini's build and a lot of players much bigger than Moors. He will fill out but currently he's very lean.

Our issue is we don't have anyone, in any grade who's big, fast and powerful. No one who could bust a line at any moment. Most clubs take a punt in the lower grades on athletic wingers for example who might lack the skills and polish but have the physical traits. We don't.

The only player that comes close is Makasini, whom had a very erratic season in SG ball.

Not what I wanted to hear..on all fronts!

When talking about slow, undersized wingers - I find it odd that people bang on about the couple that have made it (both in the best teams of that era no less)
There may be a couple more that have been elite - but usually it’s the same couple players referenced…

That’s 2 against the literally hundreds that are the usual mould - big, fast and powerful.
Like when the fox was available, I read here that we’d already signed better..
Not on yesterday’s game we didn’t.

But on plenty of other games we did.

You cant compare recruitment of players based on one game..unless youre cherry picking

Signed better than Fox?
You're entitled to your opinion, I don't agree.
Fox would be the best Winger if he were at the club.

Most of the teams we've played well against this year are below us on the ladder and
I've not seen any of our Wingers have the game Fox had yesterday.

Furthermore, I feel you missed the point.
I could count on one hand the noteworthy Small, Slow Wingers in the game that have made a name for themselves, and the main 2 were in the best team of their time.

There must be a reason that most clubs go for Speed and Size like 99% of the time in the last 20 Years.

Disappointed we didn't have a crack at the fox, looks like he cleaned up his act, as far as we know.

To'o is still about 3 inches taller than Luke.
He's the shortest winger in the comp. Needs time to development to minimise his weaknesses
