Luke Laulilii #290

Well...unless he has a growth spurt at 18(!)..hes not gonna make it.
The game has moved on.and tiny wingers just dont cut it any more
Funny argument that
- I was saying the exact same thing here 15 years ago when
forumers were trying to convince me how good a winger Beau Ryan was.

Beau not same same..
taller..different body shape..and attracted females to our club!!Not a bad thing
Seriously..for once...he may be like Tumeth and Feledy etc,who were teen standouts until everybody grew up to their size and beyond
Theres always a space for a nugget winger...less so these days..if they can offset their height with other strengths
At 18 its early days ..but he is challenged

He was a fullback coming through the grades where his height isn't as big a deal but on the wing it's bombs away...
He's no Walsh when it comes to pace or skill.
I personally don't see him making it, having had so many concussions at this young age is a bad sign. But the kid definitely has some talent so won't write him off yet

And Walsh is no Laulili'i when it comes to power or bravery in contact.

Where was Walsh playing at 18 years old?

In terms of first grades careers, Beau Ryan had an above average one.

126 first grade games with 53 tries is a pretty good NRL career for the average winger.
Beau was a decent winger. Good finisher, safe enough under the ball, and generally stayed on his man. He probably made it to a higher level than expected. But what I liked about Beau was he always seemed a team first player, seemed to love the Tigers and I reckon him getting the punt was one of the contributing factors to start our decade long train wreck. Not so much on the field but his passion for playing his best and having fun. He was well liked in the team, and you could tell it hurt him to leave. Its a shame he couldn’t have seen his days out here, because he would be as loyal as my dog.
His first wife may not agree.

He had a first wife?

I thought there was an issue that they patched up.

Yeah, i think ya right they did get back together?
But he played up on her with one of the wiggle girls or something. Anyway, we all make mistakes and if she can forgive, then best of luck to them.
I think he had his way with big Barry Halls wife didn't he.

talented kid who is up against it with his height. Regardless of the very true fact he probably shouldn’t be playing yet - he has still put in some impressive efforts for an 18 year old.

I think enough talent to persist with for the next year or two and see how he develops. Supposedly his passing game has improved - centre one day maybe?

Similar height to Jai Gray and he is making a good fist at first grade so I don’t think it’s impossible for him by any means.

If google is to be believed, Luke is 5cm taller than Jye Gray and 3cm shorter than Corey Thompson as a point of reference.

Another inch or two would do the world of good lol
