Luke Laulilii #290

Beau was a decent winger. Good finisher, safe enough under the ball, and generally stayed on his man. He probably made it to a higher level than expected. But what I liked about Beau was he always seemed a team first player, seemed to love the Tigers and I reckon him getting the punt was one of the contributing factors to start our decade long train wreck. Not so much on the field but his passion for playing his best and having fun. He was well liked in the team, and you could tell it hurt him to leave. Its a shame he couldn’t have seen his days out here, because he would be as loyal as my dog.
His first wife may not agree.
He left of his own accord - he wasn’t punted.
And is still married to his wife…

Where do you people come up with this stuff?

If google is to be believed, Luke is 5cm taller than Jye Gray and 3cm shorter than Corey Thompson as a point of reference.

Another inch or two would do the world of good lol
Still I reckon he could make a fair winger. If I were him I’d be putting on some muscle, some sprint training and work on balls skills to maximise potential with the ability to cover centre and FB.
At least he doesn’t have flippers for hands.

Didn’t get punted you reckon? He was happy to go you reckon?
And I didn’t dispute she took him back.
Same place you come up with your stuff.
Having a Happy Anzac Day then bb?

Never said he was happy - said he wasn’t punted.
Anzac Day going just fine here - you think making up shit and posting it on an internet forum would make it as happy as yours?

What, he played up on his Mrs and you can skew the term punted anyway you like that doesn’t offend you.
Happy Anzac Day.

He signed then the club reneged same with Heighington.

That’s my memory of what happened at the time. Sent ripples through the playing group and pissed everyone off. 2012 was the beginning of the end.

He had a change of heart - because the club tapped Heigno.
Took it personally…

Im very happy with turuva and skelton and would take them over jac every day of the week
Last Monday was the first good game ive seen from jac in months....we have a habit of playing guys back into form
Agreed. JAC was still a gun player at the Bulldogs. He clearly has gone back a step at Parra...

Why?

Can't be because Ryles is such an awesome coach?? who can't develop wingers??? or halves???

And Walsh is no Laulili'i when it comes to power or bravery in contact.

Where was Walsh playing at 18 years old?
Pace and skill can be hard to stop no matter the size. If you're comparing wingers with power then compare Luke to Cobbo, Best etc

And walsh was about the same age even he debuted as Luke is now. The fact is Luke shouldn't be playing now, Walsh was a standout at the same age.

Incorrect.

Walsh nearly 2 full years older than Luke when they each made their respective debuts. Luke at just past his 18th birthday and Walsh just prior to his 20th.

And what do you mean I should compare Luke to someone else? You made the comparison to Walsh.

Of course Luke shouldn't be playing now.

The fact that he is says two things:

- that our squad still (obviously) doesn't have the depth to keep our best kids out of first grade until they are ready.

- and, that he is an incredible talent to be able to play in first grade at 18 and do a serviceable job.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I know you know footy. You have some wonderful insights and you're all over the pathways.

But you have one of the most narrow-minded and rigid ideas about positional play and you're particularly obsessed with stature or physical traits above all else.

This sport has as many formulas to success as Bellamy has semi-finals appearances.

Tall wingers, short wingers, powerful wingers, slender/nippy wingers, they all have a place in first grade depending on how they're used, what the game plan is, the type of on-field strengths they show, how they work with their inside man, how safe they are under the high ball, etc, etc, etc.

And the same applies to every position on the field.

Walsh is 22 now and debuted in 2021 - Reckon you're a year out.
Makes a few months between them at best.
