Madge and the bench...

What players do we have that can come off the bench and make an impact? Aloiai the only one. Reynolds does it sometimes. Our bench forwards don’t make a dint in the defence line

Apart from Aloiai our starting forwards wouldn’t make any top 4 sides
Our bench forwards are lucky to be Canterbury Cup quality..

I agree. We have some solid forwards but our depth is just dreadful. Hopefully Blore keeps improving and Stefano does well next year for us

I'm assuming you mean props because Luciano is a weapon.

Aloiai was great today.
The only variation that would be ideal, would be to have one prop play a longer stint in the first half with the other being replaced earlier.
In the case of Josh and Packer. One could go off after 20mins the other probbably 35 mins with the one that’s gone off earlier in the game to play a longer stint in the second half.
In our case we are probably better off having Packer play longer in the second half for his experience and having josh come on the last 15-20 to add the final boast to the side in the pack.
1 think we got towards the end of the game with 2 interchanges remaining so another option could be to give one of the props 3 stints.

Luc and Garner are just not being used properly. I don't understand the change from last season to this one.

I like the idea of a fairly rigid prop rotation. If you know you are going to play for 20 minutes, have a 30 minute rest and go again for 20 minutes, you can pace yourself.

I would much rather that than some middle forwards playing 20 minutes and some playing 60. Put your older props on the start so they have a longer rest, put your younger props on at about 20 minutes to provide some impact. Swap them back at the 50-60 minute mark depending on how the game is going or if they are gassed.

You can always adjust if your team has had dramatically less possession at the start of the game.

most games we've had really fast starts, always under the impression we getting a 12 point lead and slacking off.

The bench today was rubbish. Would have preferred Clark over Seyfarth who has shown zilch to warrant a new contract IMO. Blore should have been given a run also. McIntyre does his job and Taylor was ok in defence as you would expect.

His benches are Sheens level ridiculous.

Not even close. Sheens would have had Jennings riding the pine for 75 minutes today.

How does Seyfarth get a gig?
Blows my mind

I think I've been confused about all bar 2 or 3 of Madges benches all year.

At least Brooks wasn't there this week

LOL

Sheens loved having an ace up his sleeve for a crucial 3 min stint towards the end of the game

he was aggressive in his first few hitups

did make some errors tho

i would have him on the bench if he can continue that aggression every run, and turn into a more aggressive Twal type player

Agree completely and wondering again why Seyfarth was on the bench, Taylor usually gives away a few holding down penalties that was the difference in his game, his defense was solid. Reynolds did not offer much as well?
Bench needs to improve but that's the depth we have, Blore interesting Non selection????
