Madge Maguire - Mega Thread

Penrith we’re horrible for at least 5 years when they started their rebuild with Gus.

The youth we are bringing in is encouraging for the future.

It’s not like we are signing the Tedescos or Addo-Carrs with frequency.

I guess we just need to be a bit patient.

I questioned dropping Benji last year as something that was big risk and might lose the playing group. I feel worse about moving Doueihi. I just think it's the wrong move against the wrong player. I've supported Madge but I don't agree with this.

There's nothing in Mbye's play that suggests he's a good option at 5/8. I like him playing lock as an extra passer in the middle, but that was with two halves who can control the game. Giving him 5/8 responsibilities is a terrible idea, he lacks the craft to lead a team. Plus, Doueihi is our best kicker and our most intelligent player.

If Madge had a problem with how he was playing he should have worked with him on that.

Tamou has been better the last few weeks but it pisses me off that Joey Leuilua, Moses Mbye, Luke Brooks, James Tamou and Luke Garner have fallen into our side rather than earnt a spot due to excellent form and effort, while Stefano, simpkin and Doueihi are the ones getting shuffled or dropped. I can understand why those lackadaisical players are in our side, but not when players putting in more can't make it.

I don't care about the result, that's really poor, Madge.

Understand why Luke's ability as a game manager has come into question. But to diminish his ability as a footy player by ridiculing his entire NRL career, is a whole new level of toxic. Same goes with the barrage of anger toward his selection.
I've seen him be lambasted from pillar to post (this week on the forum) but to deflect things out of his control or unrelated to his performances, onto him, is a little much.

I think when you said Mbye was great at lock between to halves that can control the game you surely didnt mean between Brooks and Douhie ?
Brooks who has proven he cant control the team over many years and AD is just learning...Mbye was a renowned playmaker at the Dogs before Ivan offered him a motsa to come here, since he has been here he has been shifted from pillar to post,FB,Centre,Lock utility off the bench and you dont even want to let him have a chance to prove that he can play 5/8..
Another question for you...AD has huge respect for Madge, dont you think the they both would have discussed the move of himself and Mbye during this weeks video sessions and training for the benefit of the team ???

Mbyes best position is 6.
He's a runner first and foremost.

Douihei is way better.

It's all so simple yet it makes no sense.

'renowned' half? He was signed on big dollars at the dogs on potential, was utterly mediocre, got moved around and ended up at fullback and they laughed when they managed to offload him to us. Not a renowned half, or a renowned anything. He's a solid utility. I didn't mean to compliment Brooks when I said that I liked Mbye at lock with two organisers playing, I meant only that they were given the role of organising, where Mbye is now going to be given that role. I'm glad you're so full of confidence about this move, but you only have to go as far as Moses Mbye to get a sense of how crazy this move is: "In my opinion Doueihi has been our best player this season" and "Obviously, Doueihi was disappointed with the swap" and "I guess Madge just wanted to change something" and "I was a little bit surprised" and "I am probably not as dominant a figure as Adam" and how about the confidence and conviction in this final statement: "We all know what a quality player Luke is and **maybe** with me there he will see the game from a different point of view, he will **probably** be on the ball a bit more, **I guess**." Phew, can't wait.

Thanks for the reply, your entitled to your opinion as are all of us...I prefer to leave the team selection and movements up to Madge,he has to get this lot winning games, how he achieves it I dont care, but something has to be done because we are starting to look like we cant win easy games but can take a top 4 team (Souths) to golden point with their full compliment of players...
They are either not gelling or they are dropping their bundle under pressure,I think Madge is trying to get them to play as a TEAM and not depend on 1 or 2 players to win games(AD,DL,LL etc)

Well technically he wasn't dropped, Talau was returned. Cini only started because Talau and AJ got injured.

The comparison between benji being dropped and doueihi being moved to centre is exactly what I thought as well. I know this speaks louder of benji’s questionable character, but a good man manager should have seen it coming or handled it better. On a side note it’s also strange to have your captain come out publicly backing doueihi to take control of the team, next week is shifted to centre. Sounds like the senior playing group and madge disagree on a few things.

Latrell just recently bought his parents a home for 1.8mill - I think he has been looked after very well at South's.

Must be mortgaged to the hilt ?

Built by Politis Homes ...trusted Master Builder of the Roosters

But he plays for Souffs dopey ?

Where do you think his payout came from numbnuts

I’d say a back ended deal from Romper stomper

Lauren, I don’t understand the level of criticism either. It’s beyond the pale. I’ve often wondered if those posters are actually Wests Tigers supporters or if we’ve been infiltrated by someone with an axe to grind. There was a post in the last few days threatening to hound Brooks until he left the club. Please this person, who ever you are, seek some help.?

In many ways, the extreme views on Brooks flourish within a microcosm on this Forum. If Brooks was on the market he would be inundated with offers. It's a shame the relationship between Brooks and Tedesco has not been replicated with Laurie in the kicks to the in-goal.

Sick primary school level logic there. They play different positions, entered the team at different times, have different levels of experience and so on and so on. And Brooks is clearly a better player, let's not forget that too.
