Madge has rebuilt two clubs - the job appears to be bigger here. Give him till the end of next year

I think we stick with what we have until their contracts run out and then evaluate from there. I don't believe our squad is that bad and we are looking better in relation to the cap.

We can't have Madge though go out and make stupid signings.

I don't believe we should sack Madge but I think he should be taking some accountability. These guys aren't performing to their potential.

I do believe we have improved our roster this year. A number of new combos, and a tough draw haven't helped but the one that gets me is lack of starch and desire for a lot of the game.

It's attitude plain and simple. Players know how how to get rid of coaches these days it's too easy - it's always ultimately the coach who pays the biggest price and owns the players poor form.
The StGeorge forwards were rubbish last year and now running/tackling harder than ever - like they did a couple of years ago under the old coach.
I have no doubt that a few big losses and someone will start rocking the boat.

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire backed by club
The Wests Tigers have given an iron-clad guarantee that coach Michael Maguire’s job is safe.
After a terrible performance against the Cowboys on Sunday, chairman Lee Hagipantelis directed full blame at the playing group.
“There is no change of coach on our radar whatsoever,” Hagipantelis said.
“Madge has extended for two years. I don’t think the issue at our club is the coaching.
“Your patience can be tested but that first half performance on Sunday was all about effort and attitude.”
The Wests Tigers lost 34-30 and were booed off the paddock at half-time, trailing 28-6.
“This is something no administration has got control over,” Hagipantelis said.
“Once the boys cross that line and run onto the paddock they’ve got to do their jobs.
“We can’t run onto the field and neither can Madge.
“It’s not his job to make tackles and catch the football.
“I’m sure he’ll make the appropriate enquiries into why they played so poorly.
“We’ve got some cap space and when the appropriate opportunity comes up, we’ll be looking at it.”

Pretty spot on what Lee has said good to see he's got an ironclad guarantee and not the full support of the board

Rightly so, IMO.

I hate these types of quotes from higher ups who don't understand the game.

"The coach can't run on the field"...really, that is all you have got? Yes, he can't run on the field **but he can get the team ready so they don't constantly come out flat. This has happened multiple times**

"It is not his job to tackle and catch"..**.but it is his job to teach them how to tackle, implement structures, and jump / protect on kicks.**

Do you think they don't do this in training?

As the rumour about a blow up with Tamou increase it is becoming more and more obvious we have a problem in the dressing sheds. A few of us were suggesting it earlier in the season. Seen nothing to change the opinion.

Something just isnt right with the playing group or the playing group and the coach.

Itll come out soon, it always does.

Madge doesn't go out and make any signings, that job belongs to Adam Hartigan, who I think has done a great job.
But maybe time to bite the bullet and pay some overs for an elite player?

So your solution, if a coach can’t improve the side’s ladder position after an average first season, is to punt the coach in the third season?

Pretty much. It's quite obvious we're heading backwards, not forwards. There has been no progress, no improvement. He can't get us competing.

Haha good luck to the next bloke then. He gets 1 year's grace to take over from Madge, 1 legitimate year where he is measured, gets cut start of the third year if not surpassing the 2nd year inside 5 rounds.

You do recall of course, last time we course-corrected the coach in the first few rounds of his third year, all our best players left?

Agreed - something not right.

*Sigh*...I want Madge to be successful but it's going to be tough.

I personally think his time is up, but happy to be proven wrong. Even if he's let go, there's no one we can sign to replace him. Maybe we need to bring back Tim Sheens :face_with_rolling_eyes:

If it was that simple then I'd say do it. I think we are doing the next best thing and looking at junior talent.

The Roosters targeted Sam Walker. We can get into bids for players like this. We got Stef and Blore this way.

the rumour going round is Tamou confronted Madge in dressing room at half time about how wrong the game plan was and they had a blow up, hence why Tamou didnt play any of the 2nd half

What is the rumour?

It's posted on here elsewhere. A half time blow up between them. Apparently but not confirmed over the game plan. Hence why he only played 28 minutes

Tick tock on the Madge clock *if correct*

I didn't want to say anything, but i have a source that he has lost the dressing room completely.
He lost it last year and has been struggling to get it back. Not a good man manager, but manages upwards well.
The complaints I heard is that he's not straight with the players i.e. says one thing, does another etc Sometimes players don't really know what he wants from them.

Yeah saw that posted on Facebook. Hate these rumours.

I can't see how any sort of plan involved the players not making tackles.

Cheers, didn't look like anyone was following anything in the first half.

Ironic we brought in a leader and allegedly that leader stood up for his players.

Contrast that to what was been reported in the SMH article.

The way we are going at the moment it won’t matter beside any of our so-called better players right now are not even in the same category

If the coach couldn’t get the players up for yesterday’s game with all that was going on and the weak opposition, he is not the right man for the job
