Go back and look at him talking and and the players actions and attention. There would have been more engagement if there was a rerun of MASH on a TV

Which players?

Looked like basically everyone in the room

Well I know douehi is a huge fan of Madge.
Laurie came here because of madge, as he was a souths fan growing up.
Brooksy is putting in under Madge
Blore came here because of Madge.
Seyfarth has improve 1000% under Madge
Ute is looking so fit under Madge

They are the core of the future team and one i worry about

If the others aren't listening to Madge. They can listen to Gardiner or start talking to other clubs.

Not going through another player mutiny again.
If you can't be bothered to help turn things around then see ya later

Spot on mate.

Team selections will be very interesting next week, might be a few tense meetings when Madge proposes to dump half our salary cap to the twos.

Madge has to pick players that will play for him and the club. Weed out the negative influences and underperforming players. First message has to be Nofa, Mbye, Luciano, Jet, Tamou. Dropping senior players that are letting the younger ones down will send a huge message.

I love Madge but he hasn’t had the fortitude to do what has to be done. It’s a club issue for certain above his head but some heads must roll. We can’t have another mutiny it won’t end well.

Yes, it’s the big problem when you separate the head coach and the recruiting too much, Madge is getting judged by the performances of guys who he did not necessarily want/pick. And now he probably wants to drop them and the guys who picked them will cop it. Division everywhere.

Wonder which club Wayne was on about?
Broncos. He’s close with Madge.

I was disappointed that he did not send Tamou, Nofoaluma, L Leilua, Roberts, Mbye to the NSW cup.
Hopefully, this will happen against the Donkies😛ray:

Madge 3 years in ,what has he achieved,a static 9th to a 14,

When Bellamy was 3 years in at the Storm his record was..
2003, 9 losses
2004, 11 losses
2005, 11 losses
Madge joined as his assistant coach in 2004 and they had a few good young players coming of age, Smith, Slater etc.
Madge didn’t leave Storm until 2009 when he was headhunted by Wigan.
There’s a possibility we’re in the same sunrise position of a 04/05 Storm. We have some good young talent coming through. Do we have the same patience of the Storm admin?

Based on his actions this season i fail to see maguire dropping anyone who actually needs to be dropped.

Earlier in the season we had perfect examples of players not turning up with the right attitude and the team getting smashed. His response was to drop young players like Liddle and Stefano.

Ill be shocked if he has what it takes to pull the trigger and put the likes of Nofo, Moses and Tahmou in reserve grade.

No just easier to have a little whinge in the post game about them not being men.

We should be awarding him a medal of honour and courage for taking on the challenge, not hang the guy.

Each to their own opinion, but I could not disagree more strongly with this point, he has had more than enough time to at least get the team to show some form of improvement, he has failed.
Keeping on blaming Cleary 3 seasons later is a cop out, and Madge and his excuses are a cop out as well.
You want to give him a medal, I want to give a one way ticket out of here, that is the beauty of opinions

I'm not usually in the fence but I am in this one.

I can see both sides of the argument.

**Maguire has lost the dressing room** but should we sack the coach or sack the senior playing roster who are sooking.

Guys like Moses, Brooks, Nofo and others have been here longer than the coach so I'd allot a little more blame to them before sacking the coach.

But a new coach may want to feature those players in his rebuild.

It's a messy situation and all parties are to blame.

Who has said he has lost the dressing room? A couple of people on here.

Last week, they were saying Kevin Walters had lost the dressing room?

Haven't heard any players mention anything? No doubt, we are in a hole, but we are not a top 6 side yet? I don't think anyone thought we would compete in the last 4 games?

I believe we will get there and it is certainly taking longer than we all want, but imo, the club has to let him finish his rebuild. He has the experience we need, remembering we have been trying to do it for 10 years, it is not as easy as we all thought?

I'm saying it. He has lost the dressing room.

Players are not responding.

I'm no fan boy of the senior playing group. Most of them are imposters but right or wrong the coach has lost them.

Plain to see.

Sorry, but you’re guessing. But there are some players not playing to potential for sure.

What information do you have to support your claim that he is guessing?

None, but that’s the point, I know you have mentioned it, but no one else has, in fact they rallied in the second half of the Souths game, hardly an indication he has lost the shed. There is no proof of your assertions what so ever.

Take your blinkers off and you may see things, instead of being one eyed and negative.

We scored points in the second half because south’s clocked off. It is very obvious he’s lost the playing group.

How do you know this, you blokes just make things up to suit your story. If the team didn’t want to play, we wouldn’t have scored any points.

Not at all, I’m looking at it rationally. I actually think he lost he playing group midway through last season, and I think it’s gotten worse since then.

It’s a toxic environment with no harmony at all. Your issue is you have wanted him to succeed so badly from the beginning you simply cannot deal with the fact that he’s failed.

It’s the players that have failed, casting aspersions doesn’t make it true.

Who has said beside some of you, that Madge has lost the sheds? Not even the journo’s sprout that rubbish.

This was literally in tonight’s article by Chammas

“The news comes as multiple sources at the club told the Herald there was growing discontent among the players about Maguire, which has been exacerbated by the coach’s post-match comments following the loss to South Sydney.“

“Growing discontent” and “multiple sources” I wonder who they are? You are drawing a long bow to say “he’s lost the shed”, I said earlier, they said about Kevin Walters last week.

You talk about me wearing blinkers, you're sitting there with your eyes closed and fingers in your ears.

Well, attacking me, doesn't make you right, you have nothing to back up your claim, except a jouno saying there is "growing discontent", Made had just said he was wanting men in his team, that would certainly upset some of the non performers.
Nofo being a tool and throwing team mates under the bus doesn't help either.

BTW, Chammas co-authored the article, I understand he has a known dislike for Madge.

The comment Maguire made is not appropriate in the workplace.

I disagree. You've never been inside a dressing shed, have you?

The dressing shed is a workplace. That comment was made publicly.

Strange type of workplace, with cameras and media hanging around. Anyone film you at your workplace?

Last time Madge had a go at the players, in the "privacy" of the dressing shed workplace, they filmed it and put it on TV. Then talked about it for days and days.

Also, I think for Madge it's just an alternate strategy. He has resisted criticising the players all year. They've been rubbish all year, they deserve criticism. He didn't name anyone specifically.

They are professional footballers. If they cannot handle internal and external criticism then they are in the wrong business. NRL is not a standard workplace - most workplaces don't get filmed, don't ask employees to make public comments on a weekly basis. Most employees don't have their personal effects in the media. Most employees don't have external parties critiquing their performances.

So if the coach calls the team out, justifiably, and that's something you can't handle, then you need to reconsider a career as a professional footballer. Because the coach is going to be softer on you, more understanding, more collaborative and constructive than any other external party, of which there are very many.

Maguire needs to be a lot more careful about what he says and where he says it.

Why Paws ? because you want him gone to suit your personal agenda...funny how he can say nice things about his squad when they are learning and not doing well but cant critique them when they fail him ...

WT is a professional organisation. Our image impacts all areas of the business. It's not overly difficult to do.

Nothing he said (about needing men) was unprofessional or impacted our business - we're already in the poo thanks to our weak willed playing roster.
You're the only one who thinks so.

We will see if he repeats what he said again. I suspect not.

He doesn’t need to repeat it, it’s out there and the point has been made and you haven’t stopped repeating it.

What point is that? That he has attempted to blame shift responsibility to the players in an attempt to save his own job?

I think his job is safe while players are performing like reserve graders and it is only right he demands better from them or they hit the road.

No coach will except the type of effort some of these blokes are putting in.

Does Maguire give the players valium in his pre-game and half time chats?

Well this may be the exact point where the major problem of this group lies.
IT is imperative that these guys run out on the field ready to Play from the startnog whisle. But this has just not been ciached into their DNA.
I want to see them run out with fire in their eyes and tear into their opposition ….. PLEASE.

**Bring back tommy's face slapping pre game warm up routine**.
Then if they dont cry...they should be in the rite mood :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: .

There's 17 players so I guess Tamou gets to slap Maguire!

I agree Patriot

We can all see who needs to be dropped, so you would think Madge can see it also

Its just amatter whether he has the balls to pull the trigger come Team list Tuesday .
If he does it would breath life back into us fans , Im sick of seeing the same team trot out week in, week out and show the same lack of attitude and intensity every week.

Ive said it before id rather have a team of rookies come out and get flogged by 50 than see what we currently have out there and they still get smashed by 50

Those that could - Laurie, Seyfarth ... ??? 20 games between them.
Those that don't - Brooks the immutable introvert. Noffa the space cadet. Twal the double scoop of vanilla. Tamou the invisible. Nigh nigh Mbye.
The two best bits of advice I have ever had from a coach are "You're not out there to make friends" a la Chee Kam (think JWH) and "Be a player, not a watcher" meaning make it happen.

Still have hopes for Blore for a bit of mongrel. Joffa has it but needs someone to go with him. We have a lot of spot fillers and watchers.

Im the same, id rather see the young guys come in and let their enthusiasm rub off a bit. Doing the same old thing will only get the same old results. The senior playing group has a really poor attitude and reputation.

Lets see if he does have the balls. Im doubting it

It's so black and white for fans - but no coach drops all the senior players because he will immediately alienate them create division, and put more pressure on the young players to perform. If they fail, their confidence gets knocked and the coach wears the blame.
We have players that need to be moved on, but mass droppings during a season never works and only creates drama for the press to feed on.

'Give an offload two scoops!'

I think Douehi, seyfarth, Laurie and blore will be driving attitude. So will Hastings when he arrives.

I know Ute seems quiet but he reminds me a bit of Petero Civoniceva. Quiet but hard and leads by example.

Madge is in a tough spot.
He also doesn't have the talent behind the players that will just come in a be regulars.

Its a slow transition.
Slowly weeding out the ones with the wrong attitude.

He doesnt have to drop all senior players , just the non performing ones ( which we all know whom they are ) . There is already division due to players not being held accountable for their performances ( this lies with Madge ).

You need your senior players to be the consistent performers even if they dont star and unfortunately for Maguire they are all over place. Not the players you want to rely on if your job is possibly on the line but that is the predicament he is in.

As opposed to the drama the media is feeding on already?

No one is calling for mass sackings by the way. Just a couple of the big names to send a message to the playing group.

Dropping your Liddle's, Simpkins and Stefano's does bugger all.

Stefano and Simpkins have been blooded like all young players that happens at all clubs. The last thing they need is to be hammered in FG at this point of their careers. They will get their opportunity.
