Madge Maguire - Mega Thread

The story was leaked to Chammas with specific names Flanagan and Morris to take over. Sadly for Madge it’s over. I don’t agree with it but Flanagan albeit with prior misdemeanours is the best coach available. It’s not even close and his attacking game plans are up there with the best. Paul Green is another but he’s a mini Madge just as hard line.

The Tigers have to sack everyone even themselves from the board down. Failing with Cleary and Madge who are both credentialed coaches shows how badly mismanaged the club is.

It’s the main reason sacking Madge doesn’t make sense as I don’t believe any coaching change will fix this. Everyone has to go.

We are an absolute circus there’s no other way to describe the clown show.

The club has not asked why could we not keep quality? How many quality Penrith juniors leave the club?

Penrith leak lots of juniors, they have a very large catchment.

Also Marty Taupau isn't a Tigers junior, nor is JAC. Fifita technically also isn't a Tigers junior as he was picked up to join NYC from Griffith.

Marty played his juniors with Greenacre Tigers; Josh with Earlwood Saints and Fifita attended Saint Pats.

How about sack Pascoe? Hes the CEO of the worst club in the NRL. In private industry, how long does the CEO ride out the inability to reach its KPIs? The head of the snake must be chopped off. What's his KPI's? Do you know or just assuming? The Board would set those. How do you know he is not meeting them?

I'm only assuming of course as I have not read the legaiities his contract in relation to his KPIs. My guess would be that the CEO of the least performing NRL club in the NRL would have to have some on field performance element to it as the CEO governs the strategic direction of the organisation and that primarily relates to its core business... on field success. I'm sure if the CEO of bloody fruit shop stopped successfully selling fruit the business would go under. Oh, hang on, suckers walk into the shop occasionally tho.

Its not Madges broken system,its the clubs bickering and trying to be one better than the other...ok Wests Ashfield own about 80% of WestsTigers give or take,if they let people they employ do their job without factional interference which has gone on since day 1 of our imalgamation and treated it as a business from the start,maybe we would be in a far better position than we are now,the old boys club were in charge for years,jobs for friends and mates,bring back Benji after he got the craps,bring back Farah after he got the craps etc etc...
Madge has had a mountain to climb,if you fanboys of getting rid of Madge stop and think what really is the root cause of our problems then maybe you should give Madge some credit for at least trying to sort the rabble out and bring it into a positive perspective...
he is giving youth a go,he is trying to do the best he can with what he has....as far as the players saying that he is to hard,hello its the NRL and you play the whole 80 minutes,otherwise find another sport.its a hard game,rewarded by hard work...coach may not get the results he wants,but maybe the players dont earn the pay they demand.....

I hear you all about concerns about sacking Madge and I am getting closer to that view each week, however until I hear that there is a better alternative to Madge... or Brooks... or Robert’s... then I’m not sure the ‘sacking’ will fix anything.

In Madges favour we have recruited better than ever. Our lower grades are stronger than ever. Our future salary cap has more potential than ever. We have some genuine young guns.

What I don’t know is if Madge can get the team consistently believing in themselves.

Do you think Maguire can recruit marquee players? He hasn’t been able to manage it to date. At this rate I don’t quite understand how we spend our salary cap next year. We have a wonderful young crop coming though the lower grades and the starting players we have are generally very good value signings. I’m just not sure with Madge we can attract 4 superstars even if we have the cash because if you are that good you want to play for a top 6 team

Hmm, i actually think I'm devil's advocate tbh. A lot of the info being supplied etc by people on the forum is extremely interesting and appears relevant. However, I'm not burning the place down yet.

Like everyone, i am guttered by our results and frustrated by our years of failure. However, i feel like there are a few things that need to happen outside of sacking people to grow.

1 Complete the CoE and then move Pascoe on. I will get flamed for this I'm sure but I think Pascoe deserves to see the CoE through as it really has been his baby and like it or not a massive achievement.

2. leave madge in place until the end of the year. six coaches in 10 years is just crazy. I think you give madge until the end of the year and judge his results then. One way or another you have an answer as to his success with this group. If change is needed the new coach will have a sum of coin to build on.

3. Give Hartigan autonomous control of the footy department. From my poor vantage point, he looks like our shining light in regards to front office staff. I have loved his recruitment and would love to see what he can do over the next 5 years.

4. Stop putting out articles and interviews telling us you're killing it. The time for talk is well past shut up and show us.

Anyway i feel for everyone on here as im sure you are as guttered as i am.

Not sure how you can possibly think he’s done a good job. He’s taken a pretty ordinary team and made them
