I watched the Storm Titans game last night and it was a good game of footy...finals type of game...
the standout for me was watching Cam Munster take hold of the team, talk, direct and get involved right throughout the game....thats LEADERSHIP right there ...and I hope one of our young guns will be able to do the same as they develop under Madge..

We have Doueihi who will be that bloke for us, the issue is Madge can't attract the good players to compliment our young blokes

You seem to think Madge cant attract the good players....maybe the club and Madge only want to start building from within before spending big on big name players...Madge can and will attract big name players but the club has already said they will wait and see what comes up....you cant despise a bloke for trying to do the right thing first and foremost....thats the trouble with fans and supporters who want wins yesterday...they dont understand that the club will be here for many years to come, not just fall by the wayside because the fans dont see it the way paid professionals do....

If his strategy is to build from within why did we offer Latrell, TPJ and JAC?

Because at the time all and sundry were screaming for marquee type players that came available,we needed some of them, gave them reasonable offers but wanted either more or go and play with the brothers ...its not hard to work out,and beside I told you blokes long ago that JAC had the shits with the club he was fond of because they didnt give him a contract to stay with us,,,Not Madges fault...previous admin coaches...its easy to blame Madge and most of your post allude to Madge being the ogre in this club...open your eyes and check our history...you may be surprised at what it shows you,...

So Madge didn’t want them but he did it because of pressure from fans? That doesn’t sound good.

Lots of positive vibes at the moment for Madge on the back of two wins against very average opposition and some fluff in the media.
Be interesting what the vibes are like in two weeks after the Sharks and Penrith games.

You can’t sugar coat it, this year has been terrible. A few wins against under manned opposition, or spoon candidates.

The vision of the rebuild around top not juniors is flawed if you don’t have the quality to show them the way. Also every team in the comp are also buying up top notch juniors. Every junior rep side gets sliced up around the clubs.

We are not going anywhere till we can get some real quality into the team, and I have my doubts our coach can attract that quality.

Happy to be proven wrong

Who would you replace him with? No point getting rid of him if there is no one to take over.

If things are not working you have to try something, take a punt. Personally I would target someone like Cameron Ciraldo, John Morris or even Jason Ryles. Younger guys from good systems. Or you go someone like Neil Henry. Sometimes you just need a new face with new ideas

The thing that concerns me with Gardiner is he’s untested and isn’t from a rock solid system like the Storm, Roosters etc and if you look at our reserve grade side it’s pretty full of decent players by reserve grade standard (including fringe first graders). Put a reserve grade coach in as head coach of the West’s Tigers NRL side and I reckon they fall over.

Supercoach, I know where you are coming from. I too have my doubts about Madge, but I was heartened somewhat after watching the last Tiger Tales episode. I really think the next three weeks will be telling. If the Sharks beat us and we get smashed by the Panthers, then we need to look for another coach. If we beat the Sharks, beat the Panthers, or even compete well, and beat the Bulldogs, then we are travelling in the right direction and I will support him.

I’d put Gardiner in but surround him with experienced assistant coaches. Pay in defence and maybe Henry in attack.

I think not sacking a coach is trying something and taking a punt for us given our history. Maybe we’d be better looking at changes in assistants in terms of taking a punt?

Removing Sheens was the right move.not getting the right coaches over the next 3-4 years is where it went wrong
