Look I agree that Madge must take a fair share of responsibility for what happened this year. I expected more as I’m sure he did also.
We started the season following that preseason Manly win and faced a tough draw.
I think that things really started to go bad after that close loss to Souths. Our heads were down after that and results showed that players and Madge were well and truly down after that.
Sliding doors and if we jag couple of wins that we should have got in the bag and we find that we would have something to play for in our last round game against the bulldogs.
I’m not making excuses for anyone ….. but things are finely balanced for teams like ours.
We have a young, inexperienced team that just got a season under their belts.
We played virtually whole season without any positive input from Packer, Musgrove, Joey L. Roberts, AJ and Walters. Not saying that they would have made lots of difference but that’s a large chunk of our roster.
So yes a tough season but stay positive guys all is not lost.

G'day @momo_amp_medo
Re your "we started the season following that preseason Manly win".
I feel each and every Wests Tigers supporter including myself would have felt we were going to have a winning 2021 after beating Manly the way we did.
I feel it was the worst start to Our season possible, as the players probably thought there and then they were winners and didn't have to try to hard to win games.
Being young and inexperienced they were immediately overconfident until reality set in and they lost that confidence, but unfortunately never found it again.

Yes I agree …. and that draw we had was designed to erode our confidence as losses mounted. Hard to turn the bus around when it’s sliding in that direction without some hard heads in the team to lend a hand.
I was hoping this year we would get close ….. but with the rule changes which favours teams with stars on disposal …. we were always going to be pushing you know what uphil with a little stick.

Hopefully Pascoe is gone, and we keep both Hartigan and Madge.

Find a CEO that’s run successful football clubs before.

They keep Maguire the club is done ! This is a pivotal moment for this club .. there HAS to be on field success and after 3 seasons of failure what fools actually think next season is any different the players want no part of him ! All I say good luck with all of that ! The CEO should go as with the coach and a few contracted players then your on the right track!

100% agree with you all of that as I think the majority of Wests Tigers supporters do. But who cares about Wests Tigers supporters? Typical Wests tigers hierachy cop out.

On all the polls on the forum, plus the surveys on the wests life pod, Madge still has majority support.

I think we should still stick with madge.

Bring in some players with character and will to win - Hastings & Doueihi is a start but need a core group of 5-6 players in key positions

Move sheens into a more senior role, working closely with madge and haritgan

Replace assistants with decent younger assistants- with one identified to be groomed as a future first grade coach

Lastly, replace pascoe with a football ceo

Wayne Pearce is available.

Isnt Pearce still on the RL Commission?

Finishing up.

If so he would be valuable on the WT Board

Given the latest crazy idea he has for the NRL I’d say no.

So I just listened to the podcast from Joel Caine at "Drive with Joel & Fletch" and it goes for like 9 mins. This is a 100% must watch as he hits the nail on the head about our situation.
Do yourself a favour and look it up and have a listen.
Madge should be the first one kept and daylight 2nd..
From today and it;s called WestsTigers Honesty Session

Yep :100: agree @hsvjones
It's a great listen.

we had enough to offer Latrell over $1m last season

We would have had enough to offer 3 Latrells $3m without the cap constraints.

And due to how constrained we were, if we did land Latrell the rest of the squad would have been filled with minimum wagers - definitely no Doueihi, no Lucy, no Laurie, no Ken Maumolo. Latrell can be a bludger at times - and any game he didn't turn up we would have been flogged.

We could have $10m and it wouldn't make a difference. Players don't want to play for Maguire. I wouldn't want to.

It's just a myth that people take as true because it is repeated so much on here. The vast majority of players who have played with him, here or elsewhere, say it is rubbish. Our recruiting is at least as good under Madge as his predecessors, and I would argue better.

What recruitment? We haven't signed 1 NRL player for next year. And it's not a myth that players don't want to come here. My proof: No-one is coming here.

We always make most of our signings in the offseason, every single year.

People are just getting all hysterical because we didn't turn up against the Dogs in a meaningless game with our best players missing.

They beat us 38-0. We also conceded more points than them for the entire season. And that recruitment strategy is ridiculous, because you have no control over it. You are relying on teams shifting players, which might not happen. And even if it does, you're confident we'll sign some? Why? We haven't signed anyone else?

Yes 38-0, but it was a meaningless game, with most of our best players missing. Mentally Penrith was our last game of the season, then they checked out for the year. Not defending it, but it's nothing to slit our wrists over.

As for recruiting in the offseason it's not necessarily a strategy, it's just how it happens. Nobody in a top 8 team will be signing anywhere right now, give it a few weeks and that will change. I would bet my right testicle we make a few decent signings in the next 2 months (not that it's much to gamble haha).

I can guarantee you it wasn't a nothing game for Madge - he couldn't get them up for the game though.

Which is why it's bonkers to suggest he can turn it around for next season when the vast majority of the squad is the same.

For pretty much the entire second half of the season they played like a team who had given up on the coach. Don't see him turning them around at all

It's a sad reality - some players clearly tried each week, but when half the team pulls up stumps before the ball is kicked, you're going to end up with a loss on most occasions.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall inside clubs like Melbourne and the Roosters where you just don't hear of players being unhappy - they just thrive. Someone gets injured, the replacement comes in and does their job consistently. So clearly they've built cultures, set standards and have the right staff in place who not only command respect, but deserve it.

It would be interesting to see how far we fall behind in this respect - I've got no doubt some of it is on the players as too many don't have the hunger or will to win every week, so behind the scenes obviously requires a lot of work still.

Adding to that i found Joel Caines comments on his Podcast today about Steve Morris not being able to reveal information about the Roosters as Robinson has a philosophy in place that you dont reveal information to anyone even youre father interesting. His reasoning was that this would put the pressure of that information on that individual you passed it on to.

Obviously this helps the Roosters keep it in house but it also shows the difference in our club and theirs.

They take responsibility for their own actions. Well are at least asked to by their coach.

and they win most weeks..........start losing and see how tight the ship is.

But that is why they win.

Such a typical Wests Tigers fan response.

They will not start losing with that sort of culture.

Every champion team implodes eventually @The_Patriot
Man U, Arsenal, St George Dragons, even the Mighty Magpies from Collingwood.

The Tigers are expected to make a decision on coach Michael Maguire as early as next week. Weekend Read was hearing whispers on Friday that Maguire was becoming safer by the day, and chief executive Justin Pascoe and head of football Adam Hartigan were set to be the fall guys for another season of disappointment.

Hang on, am I confused. I thought that Pascoe and Hartigan were the two running the review?
That’s one hell of an impartial review if they sack themselves.

Just get him some head gear, he’ll be right.

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire retains strong support from elements of the club’s board as his future is expected to be decided by the end of this week.

While Maguire has dominated headlines in recent weeks, counterpart Brad Arthur’s time at Parramatta will also come under the spotlight should the Eels be bundled out of the competition as early as Sunday when they play the Knights.

Maguire’s future at the Wests Tigers is clearly at the crossroads. It comes as Maguire made one last pitch to the Tigers board last week, where he urged them to have faith in the direction he was taking the club.

Even still his position is delicately poised but it is understood some members of the board want to see Maguire remain at the helm. Whether that will be enough to save his job will be determined at a board meeting this week.

The Tigers board were awaiting a final report and recommendation from the club’s post-season review. Different parts of the review were undertaken by Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis, chief executive Justin Pascoe, head of football Adam Hartigan, new head of performance Tim Sheens and board member Danny Stapleton.

Sheens’ view will hold great sway given he has been the only Tigers coach to lead the joint-venture to success. There is a belief among high-profile figures at that club that getting Sheens closer to the team next year could assist with the on-field performance.

While the departures of highly-paid players Moses Mbye and Russell Packer will help end some of the expectations placed on underperforming shoulders.

Several high-profile players have made it known they want Maguire to see out the remaining two years of his deal.

The club still has about $1 million left to spend on its roster for next season.

Tune in for episode 5 of Wild Wests: Tales From Tiger Town for the final verdict.

Off course players want Maguire to stay these are the same players that have No respect for the jersey only there pay packet .
The Board want to be very careful with there decision as I know there is much anger in the membership and supporter base the day of reckoning has come for this club !
High profile players are these the ones that tanked last round !

Think you’ll find a few ‘high profile’ players getting punted if Maguire stays.
Every story now is pro Maguire or saying Brooks should look for a new club.
Blokes like John’s, Fittler and just about everyone else is pro Maguire and pointing the finger at entitled players.
