Great that Madge is staying, I just hope they find a decent defensive coach, Morris or Flannagan would be great, bring back Benji in a development role.

It's very weird that Madge is the "coach" yet he will be constantly overlooked by Sheens. Doesn't seem like a recipe to success to me

Sheens hasn't been a successful coach In about a decade as well which isn't great

From what i have read Sheens actual position in regards to the coaching staff has not been set in stone.I do agree that pinning any hopes on Sheens coaching ability is a concern, as you quite rightly state Sheens has not been a succesful coach in a decade and in my opinion should not in any way be "hands on" in regards to the coaching

Robbo congratulated Madge, calling him a fine coach on NRL360. Respected figure in the game. Now let him whip this roster into shape.

The roster he put together?

Whatever mate, half the marquee money was paid to major duds that hardly took the field. The young guys he did attract played well.

What’s been done with that money now it’s freed up?

If he signs whatever half-decent players that are currently available (Sims, Elliot, Peachy, Scott/Burns/Walker) and they don't work out people will be queuing to jump down his neck for those signings. But there isn't much else out there. So it's a bit of a hiding to nothing for him recruitment-wise for season '22.

4 or 5 of those players would bolster our team significantly IMO.

There was though. JAC, Finucane etc, and he couldn’t sign them either.

Didn't Finucane fall through because WT didn't want to give him the 4 year deal he was chasing (and got at Sharks)?
Happy we didn't go ahead with him for 4 years, Sharks will be lucky to get more than 1 year out of him on-field with all the head knocks he's been getting. JAC, meh, he's been on the decline a bit this year, IMO he will struggle at the Bulldogs just like he more than likely would of here. $700k or whatever he is on per season.

So just who is good enough for WTs

My question moving forward what happens to the players that obviously want nothing to do with Maguire ! Can not gloss over the fact it was there for all to see , you can not move forward with players that want nothing to do with the coach.
If the board and club are all together now surely these players need to be moved on in weeks !

Little football knowledge in upper management I assume Sheens will provide a link so Maguire can focus on his role. As long as they can work together it will be good for club moving forward

Apparently they’re having a secret meeting? Has it already been held?

According to the media they held the secret one after they held the cancelled one which was before the one they didn't have after the review by an outside organisation or maybe by Pascoe and definitely included all the players but only some players were included in the cancelled meeting but no players were allowed at the secret meeting which decided to keep Madge even though at the cancelled meeting they had decided to sack him and appoint Ciraldo, Woolfe, McNamara and Sheens as a consortium of coaches. The media has congratulated itself on nailing it down and fully consolidated what a pack of twats they are.

I think there’s another secret meeting scheduled to develop a more effective strategy to get rid of Madge. We’ll hear about it when someone on the board secretly informs the media?

I know you cult members will never take the blinkers off but to the non emotionally attached observers the strategy is clear.
The club made Maguire eligible to sing with the Castrati thinking that his pride wouldn't allow it.
However cuck Maguire realises that he currently has no coaching future with another club due to his failure.
His plan is to hope that head coach Sheens can somehow reverse the 3 years of damage and he can ride on the coat tails of any improvement.
It's a prudent course of action by Maguire

My wife and I each have a premium membership and will keep them. We support the Wests Tigers and would never put any coach, player or other individual above the club (even Robbie!). We have stuck solid through thick and thin and believe that's what members and fans do.

I'm not looking for any pats on the back for this but we will always support whoever the club appoints. so the outcome of the review has had no impact on our support. I'm glad to see Madge continue with the passion and belief that he wears on his sleeve.

Here's to better times ahead!

Enjoy your wooden spoon next season to eat your soup with, because that’s where we are heading!

Thought you left. It was only an hour ago you said you were done with everything tigers and you would no longer follow the forum. That didn't take long. Welcome back.

I am looking to see how the media spin this based on their earlier "inside info" that madge was gone, and the board was going to ratify this yesterday

I’m not sure if this has been posted but SEN are reporting the “emergency meeting” was a rat trap. Hope it was. That might be part of the structural change

Thats a classic! All these so called NRL reporters just got caught big time! Who is the fools now? hahahahaha

But Lee confirmed that the board meeting was scheduled for last night but was convened.

Did he? Or was that just what was reported by the same jurnos that got it all wrong?

He was quoted in todays article by chammas

I personally wouldn't believe anything Chammas wrote.

Or what Lee H says.

This is the hope that Sheens can quell the discontent amongst a few of the contracted players that want nothing to do with Maguire !

He was given a pretty good team at Souths because of Rusty but I don't see Sheensy having that kind of pulling power but his fate will be the same. I'm thinking no available coach wanted to take on the roster Maguire created and therefore we're stuck with him until round 8 next year ?‍♂️

I’ve just read the SMH report and what struck me as weird was the concern from the board that there needed to be greater connection between the club and the football department.

From the chairs and CEO’s previous communication, it seems the separation between the football department and club was intentional given Pascoe and the board has no football intelligence. I remember at the start of this review the chair laying the blame on the football department and going to painstaking lengths to praise the financial performance of the front office. It’s hypocritical bs that the board have laid the blame at Madge’s feet for the org structure and delineation of duties and responsibilities and that’s coming from someone who wanted Madge gone.

This is just one example of mixed messaging and diabolical communication from the club. I remember when Taylor got sacked, the club refused to acknowledge he was the wrong choice (clearly he was), the Pangai Jnr situation was embarrassing and unprofessional and yesterday’s cancelled board meeting was just a train wreck from start to finish. Communication may seem like a minor detail but poor communication creates uncertainty and an unstable working environment. It makes us seem outwardly unprofessional and chaotic, and degrades our integrity. Also it points to deeper issues of a lack of strategic direction both on and off the field.

Sorry for the long-winded rant guys I’ve just never been more disappointed and ashamed of the club.

The disconnection you mention would normally be Pascoes job - as CEO he is meant to be the link between the board and football club. While they see he has done a pretty good job on the off the field area some of the decisions he has overseen on the football dept side of things have been atrocious. I think Sheens will step in to the role of overseeing all football dept matters and keeping the board up to date and Pascoe can stick to the corporate side of the club.
