Marsters Goal Kicking

Moses is a 67% career kicker. Not exactly inspiring or what we need if we want to go up by 6.

Understand and agree.. But these days we need to recruit a kicker and not use a make shift kicker.. However Marsters is terrible and confidence is down so Moses can only be an upgrade

If Pat Richards is on the coaching staff, surely he would be helping Marsters. He should also teach our playmakers how to do those awesome spiral bombs that were so effective when he was playing.

Have been wondering that myself 1eyed, have not noticed anything that would indicate Big Patty Richards has implemented his kicking style into the team at all eg; no spiral bombs, no spiral line drop outs etc etc. He must of been a blow in…

Did everyone forget a certain B Hodgson …....

Hodgo did sort out Lolhea's GK action which improved his accuracy…here's hoping he does the same to Marsters...his GK'ing this year has been appauling

It's actually something I have been thinking about, last year Benji was arguably the best bomber in the game with a lot of variety to his bomb and the ball constantly being misjudged by opposition defenders. This year that his gone and his bombs have been end over end bombs. I have found that change very strange.

Interesting… Elijah Taylor in an interview said that Esan Marsters has an Ankle injury before the game and it was swelling up a lot... could be the reason to his form and goal kicking.

masters to skip playing 1 round, and just have a full week of goal kicking practice from pat richards

ok thought i might as well post it here, rather thatn make a new thread

**Wests Tigers Head Coach Michael Maguire has backed centre Esan Marsters to bounce back with his goal-kicking after a tough night with the boot in last week's loss to the Panthers.**

Marsters missed a penalty goal and two conversions — one of which bounced off the upright — against Penrith last week with those missed points coming back to haunt Wests Tigers in the end as the Panthers roared back for a 9-8 win.

Having taken over the kicking duties at the start of the 2018 season, Marsters was confirmed by Maguire to be the team's kicker once again for Thursday clash against the Broncos with the Coach backing the star centre to bounce back with the boot.

"He is our kicker again this week," [Maguire told reporters on Wednesday.](https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2019/04/10/maguire-gives-final-word-on-broncos-clash/)

"He's been working hard on his practice this week.

"Some days you can just have a tough day as a kicker, so what's going to be the telling factor now is how Esan bounces back this week.

"He's looking forward to having that opportunity again.

"He's been kicking at 90 percent at training — sometimes you just have those days.

"Esan is a quality kicker and he's been doing all the work in the background so it's about just getting it out there on the field now."

Am not an expert on kicking after an injection but this might explain why he was so "off" last Friday night.

"Marsters went into the game nursing an ankle injury he picked up at training a few days earlier, **requiring an injection to take part in the match.**

He’s been working overtime on his goal-kicking with club legend Brett Hodgson this week, and is expected to hold on to the duties for Thursday’s clash with Brisbane despite internal discussions about handing the responsibility to skipper Moses Mbye.

Mbye has been battling a knee injury he suffered in the pre-season and the club doesn’t believe he needs the added pressure of goal-kicking."
