Noticed Funaki wasn't there so I guess that rumour is true as well then.

money will be used to front load farah or lawrence contract in 2016 so we have some kind of fighting fund for 2017\. im not fussed with marty going he has not got the biggest motor and not worth more than 500k. i want to see brooks moses teddy mania woods and ciro secured (potential match winners). if we have to let some go so be it. while we have farah on 950k things will be tight thats the reality of it. hate to think who else goes if farah sees his contract out at the tigers….

It will be more than money which will secure the young halves. I'd strongly suggest the new CEO is well aware of the issue.

He will be a success story with Manly , just like Austin with Canberra. We have very few players who can break the line and have not made a single signing who can perform Marty's role. He should have been made to play out his contract , plain and simple.

Being sucessfull here is the first step in getting released or booted out. Instead of having your talent used and improved :crazy

Whether they play well or terrible, they will get at least that much, the option is in their favour.

Where is it printed that they'll be on $600k? I've only ever seen that assumed on here. They'll be paid that for their new deals, but for next season? Surely not.

Sorry, I should've used the word 'growing' rather than 'long'. However, in the space of just 2 years, Benji, Lote, Anasta, Blair, Koro, Austin, Akaoula and now Taupau all wanting out is still a fair size list, imo.

Sorry, I should've used the word 'growing' rather than 'long'. However, in the space of just 2 years, Benji, Lote, Anasta, Blair, Koro, Austin, Akaoula and now Taupau all wanting out is still a fair size list, imo.

I don't believe this at all. Everyone of those players left for money. Benji left because he wasn't offered what he believed he was worth. The rest left because we didn't offer then enough money or a contract at all. I also think apart from maybe Austin and definitely Koro the right decision was made from the club.

You have a point there, many players use the Club as a stepping stone to other clubs whereas the other bloke takes the club seriously - blood sweat & tears

Blair still had a year left on his contract. He left because he wasn't happy at the WT.

Take your pick from most first real grade players, seriously, would you want to come here if you had real talent and weren't desperate. I'm not talking about our juniors. Who in some cases have been supporters for most of their lives.
But good players from other clubs. We are becoming the last resort for most of them

Taupau was on contract for next to nothing next year. Retention of Brooks and Moses is a smoke screen from a failed leadership group and a failed coach. I am in shock of how incompetent we are.
For the Tigers cheerleaders on this forum if you paint this as a positive give yourselves an uppercut.
We are inept what a disgrace of an organisation where we want to get rid of our best players and retain a coach no one wants to play for.

Not how it works!

Even if he's on a modest contract 2016, releasing him at his request frees up that money. It doesn't mean you have to sign someone new for a similar contract, you can instead move the money as a pre-payment for contracts ending in 2017.

Let's say we are talking something very modest, like $200K. That's a lot to now be able to spend on existing players.
