Are you saying someone finds Farah a little difficult to work with?

Shocker.

And he is leaving here to go to Manly - hope he finds DCE a little easier to work with - no one else at Manly can.

He is not going to Manly!

They say where there's smoke there's fire.

Conversely, where there's fire there's smoke.

Our club is currently in such a mess that it's so easy for any 'journalist' with a quota/deadline to simply push out any old article saying whatever they like about the Tigers and know that they'll get a good number of readers for it.

Once we put out the fire (a final decision on Robbie - either way) hopefully all the smoke that keeps re-appearing will also fade away!

TIGERS CEO OPENS UP ON TAUPAU’S FUTURE

THE MARTY Taupau situation at Wests Tigers is likely to come to a head early next month, with the club’s new CEO, Justin Pascoe, set to meet with the star player then.

Taupau, a Kiwi international and one of the best impact forwards in the NRL, is contracted to the Tigers for next season, but there has been speculation he will head to Manly in 2017 and is keen to get there a season early if he can obtain a release from his existing deal.

Numerous other clubs would be keen to chase Taupau if he became a free agent.

The Rabbitohs, Manly and Titans are all reportedly interested in securing the Kiwi’s services.

Asked if he had spoken to Taupau about the future, Pascoe says: “I haven’t had a one-on-one with Marty. I obviously started here when the players were on holidays and I have certainly given them the respect of having that break. I intend to have meetings with all players on their return to training, which is the second of November.

“Marty and his management have not come and asked for a release, so as far as we’re concerned Marty is a required player for 2016\. Beyond that he isn’t contracted to us, so that is a process we’re working through.”

I get the feeling this is pretty much done and dusted as far as 2017 et al is concerned and the only issue for Pascoe and Taupau to sort out is whether Taupau stays for 2016 or goes now. Whether he's happy with the decision or not, he needs to be held to the last year of his WT deal. We simply can't afford to lose his experience and give the likes of Manly a leg up without significant compensation which I'm not optimistic we will get. I can also understand the argument about not wanting to keep players who'd prefer to be elsewhere but I really do think we need to keep him for next year and use the time to look for a quality replacement for 2017 and beyond

If Manly take him a season early, they will pay him more than we are so he won't be a salary cap issue. On top of that we could probably negotiate allowing him to leave him exchange for them freeing up someone for us and paying their contract for the season. I'm just not sure who they have that we'd want over Taupau for 2016\. Ergo I would probably keep him.

We can't lose players like Marty & then think we're ever going to be a force. Even with the reduction in interchanges he is the type of player who can bust a game open. I'm hoping this quote means that Pascoe will be aiming at re-signing Marty beyond 2016 & not negotiating an early release. Just make it happen!!

Hope the rumours of Taupau having already signed with Manly for 2017 and beyond are just that-only rumours-but given his earlier publicised knock back of a 2 year $1.1 million extension with WT, it looks possible the horse has already bolted for us; at least beyond season 2016

Well if he has, that's $1.1 million we can spend on someone else. One door closes, another opens.

Where's the 1.1 million coming from?
We won't save that on Marty., he isn't on big money, possibly save it in 2017 on Robbie, but only if he goes elsewhere for that year.

The $1.1 million was the amount that the Tigers had reportedly offered Taupau as a 2 year extension, which he turned down.

Maybe, But our Marty is a marketing dream.

I know My kids recognise him and think he is the best

More than fair IMO.

If he wants more, sayonara.

You could say the same about Benji.

he's not here anymore either unfortunately

a team like manly always performed well but they were never able to sell memberships apart from the manly area faithfuls. the amount of $ucce$$ they've had with respect to the onfield success is mainly coz they had no one like benji, hayne, dugan, slater etc. who pulled kids in.

Taupau plays down Manly talk
Wests Tigers forward Martin Taupau has been linked to Manly. New Zealand lock Martin Taupau has refused to comment on his future beyond saying, "I'm still contracted to the Tigers for next season".

Taupau faced the media for the first time since reports emerged linking him to Manly for 2016 when the Kiwis opened their British tour against Leeds.

He did little to dispel suggestions a planned move to the Sea Eagles in 2017 may be brought forward.

"There's a lot of talk everywhere – there's always something to talk about in the NRL," Taupau said.

"Look, I'm glad I'm over here with the Kiwis. That's my purpose and that's my job. I'm glad I'm over here enjoying it and taking everything in.

"I'm still contracted to the Tigers for next year. At this time my main focus is for the Kiwis.

"We must be bored – people have nothing better to do but start rumours."

Well done Marty, that response should settle the rumours down…..no mention of being loyal, loving the club, looking forward to pre-season training. He is gone, shame it's to Manly though....really hate that club!

He won't be with us next year , we need to get a grip on this issue , so what if he wants out and play for the silver tails that's fine , all we have to do is say , Manly you can have him , all we want is a player and a chq , we don't need players who are not going to commit to our club , is he a loss , yes and no
Yes , he has a following and a great market tool
No , he is impact , let's find another , simple
