Matt McIlwrick

Ah OK, that it explains it then. So it's just a quick fix if you know you're on the way out and want to finish your career on the pitch, and can tolerate having surgery later on.

Don't you know JT knows exactly what he is doing

Build a bridge!!

:deadhorse:

I can go on about our coach as much as like, in fact I would really like to ramp it right up because I have no time for him, his people management, team selections and hollow promises of fixing our defence and accountability, how is that for a start.

Have you anything new to add to your 851 Taylor bashing posts throughout 2016?

Surely we are not going to get JT bashings throughout the whole off season.

We know how you feel, we know what you think of JT - we don't need it shoved down our necks.

And I have had enough of your blind love for the coach.

Careful 851 you may be accused of being a zealot. I asked in another thread out of shear frustration that someone point out JT's achievements so I may get an understanding of why JT is their great white hope and got nothing.

Mate I haven't mentioned anything about the coach for quite some time until the other day, and when they threw it in my face I thought why not.
I really can't get excited about our prospects with JT running the show, and like you I agree, his achievements are far outweighed by his flaws and failures.
I fear we will struggle to keep our prized assets let alone attract any decent players here with him as coach, he picked his own support staff and now sacked most of them, the problem lies with him not his staff.

Since Farah was the scapegoat for this year, JT has no excuses to perform this year. I just hope they dont extend his contract like someone was saying before a ball is even kicked. That would be crazy. Especially considering Ivan Cleary is still available.

I feel that I'm pretty fair in my opinions. The thing that makes it hard with JT is that he keeps getting excuses from a certain number of posters and it makes no logical sense. The argument is that our club is a basket case and our players are terrible. I don't see that at all.

He has the team next year. We should be in the 8\. If not he should go. He has been extremely poor so far with some signs that he has the ability to get the most out of the team during the past season. I don't think he has anymore excuses.

If Ballin stays fit he'll do a very good job. He wasn't let go from Manly because of form, if anything he was in the same position as Farah. Didn't fit in with coaches plans so he was moved on. He still has a lot to offer at his age, if his body will let him. If he doesn't reckon he'll go around much longer, I don't see why he doesn't bite the bullet and get the LARS procedure done as Covell did it in his last year and it held up. There must be a reason why players don't turn to it that isn't well publicised.

A fully fit Matt Ballin would have been the difference between us making the 8 this year. He was an instrumental figure in Manly's golden era. Ask any Manly supporter and they will tell you they were more filthy about him being shown the door than any other player.

If he is fully fit next year then we will not have any issues with our 9 jersey. He fits perfectly into Taylor's game plan; a 9 with excellent service passing straight from the ground to the halves, can play 80 minutes if needed, averages 45-50 tackles a game and has a wealth of experience for our young side. Having both Ballin and ET on the field together will make a huge difference to our defence in the middle and take a lot of pressure off Woods/Sue/Ava/Grant.

Fingers crossed Ballin is fit for round 1

Club still has to announce it though. Hopefully they announce Idris and ET's re-signing along with it.

You must be watching Ballin highlights in 2012\. He has slowed down and after 2 knee reco's i wouldnt be counting on much from anything. Lets hope Liddle lives up to the hype.

With the loss of Farah and Cherrington we needed a backup hooker for depth. I don't know why people are blowing up over this…

Pretty simple

Some on the Forum don't have a clue , another portion of the Forum have had to pull down their stained Robbie Farah posters and the majority of the rest just want to stick a knife in the coach whenever they can

It's almost like half the whingers haven't figured out yet that Farah was not dumped because he wasn't a decent hooker, but because he wasn't the hooker the coach wanted. You sign a bloke like McIlwrick not as a replacement per se, but to complement the build of the team you want.

Doggies didn't want Ennis and he ended up with a premiership at Cronulla, does that mean Doggies made a huge mistake or was he just not the type of player they wanted any more?

Jacob Liddle could certainly end up becoming WT's Michael Lichaa.

Actually you sign a bloke like Mcllwrick , because you can't afford anyone better because you you are paying a motza to a much better hooker to play for an opposition team.

Ballin was moved on from Manly because he wasn't up to it in 2015 and had a terrible season.
He is a champion player and a good bloke however, he is now 32 and coming off an injury ravaged year.
He is a good leader but if he is the answer for us we are in dire straits this year.

From what I've seen in NSW Cup MciWrick is easily superior to Ballin quicker, stronger and better service out of dummy half. We really need Liddle to come in and win the 9 Jersey.

He played all but one match and averaged more than 40 tackles per game in '15

Yeh, wasnt up to it…terrible

I' can't remember ever seeing any player , get more wraps for doing so little , and playing such small minutes, especially at the age he is with the injuries that he's had , and as already stated , was unwanted by his own club.
If he ever scores a try for us , he'll be given the keys to Concord
I hope he's just half as good as he's been built up by his fan club,
To say he was the difference between making the Semis or not is laughable
Still il be happy if he can even put a couple of good games together,
