Clearly no transparency from McIntryre about his intentions. Can't trust anyone to do what they say they are going to do, and contracts mean squat anyway.

Did he come to the club and give them a chance to match the offer? I think that is a question he needs to asked.

does it? Or does he simply get the dirts that he was to sign something weeks ago and management were focused elsewhere? If he was keen to sign weeks ago, but management held off then the question needs to be why did management wait?

To be fair, if it’s true that we offered him minimum and then after he agreed we didn’t action it for 2 weeks, we don’t deserve the courtesy. I would have done the exact same thing in his position.

There were a number of posts indicating clubs were interested north of the border. To have to move interstate on the eve of pre-season suggests a hurried acceptance of the offer. WTs must have been aware of interest and to the risk involved in sitting on the contract?

To be honest I wouldn't be offerring him much more than minimum, he is still a fringe 1st grader.

Bingo! I'm not worried about losing him as such...more worried how close he is to our top 17.

That’s not the issue IMO, the issue is we got him at league minimum and then we were too lazy/distracted to sign it. It’s just not good enough.

Now we’re in a position where we have to find someone else to take his place that will either be cheap (and worse than McIntyre) or pay someone considerably more which will take money away from other signings.

Personally I think he would have developed into a competent lock.

Yes -I hope he did considering we gave him start. Either way - you can't leave a deal unsigned and expect managers not to field calls from other clubs. Club should have known better but obviously felt McIntyre had committed. Dumb.

Too be honest this is a lot of drama over a player who in reality has played a good 3 months of footy. I was unimpressed with him when he played lower grades and yes he made the transition well to first grade but in my opinion he still needs to show that his good form was not just an outlier.

I am disappointed about the time taken to get his contract sorted, but believe that is due to what I said above and the priority that he is.

That is still to be seen, it is not like he was setting the world on fire in the lower grades. He is a good honest toiler at his best.

Would have been nice to see him develop for us on minimum wage. If he kicked on we could have upgraded and/or extended. We don’t have that option now for no reason other than poor management.

Fair question, but Why wasn’t he signed over 2 weeks ago?
In all honesty would you sit around wondering why they were dithering?

I do think that is a fair question as well, I wouldn't be sitting around waiting, I would have been onto my manager to sort it out. That is what he is paid for.

Stop making excuses for piss poor management!
You read what the Pom had to say !

I'd hope his manager came back to WT's after the Titans offer. Yes it's a short career, but the WTs were interested and should have been allowed to counter. Madge gave him first grade debut - he would've been in reserves, on no one's radar, without that.

Not making excuses at all, they should have sorted this. Just don't think he is a massive loss.
