Well, this does me. The less I know about the inner workings of the club the better off I'll be. Sounds like amateur hour and makes me genuinely wownder if Benji really didn't know he was going to be out. I don't read other clubs forums but for those who do, do these sorts of things happen there too?

No not really. We seem to be the only club never looked like making the playoffs in a decade and looking for answers. Other clubs appear to be much better organised, have great training facilities, a home ground, a different organisational structure with accountability and less cream buns flying across the lunch room during morning coffee breaks.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall at those 'morning coffee breaks' @twentyforty, I love cream buns, so I could be a fly on a cream bun....Yum!!!

New manager - trying to show their worth and lift their profile. They have become like parasites feeding off the game

Thats what it looks like to me, as well as grabbing a few $$$$ for both of them.

Time will tell if a year in Qld Cup or on the bench at Titans was a good career move for Sam.

A solid middle defender that could play limited minutes. Cheap replacement can be found at Plodmart

@Harvey... hehehe... that's funny  :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing: :laughing said:
I hope they charge less interest on their credit cards than Hardly Normal though.

Been some good reading but the Facts are as follows.
Sam did want to stay at the club.
He was verbally told he had a 1 yr deal at about 115k about 6 weeks ago.
He had problems with his manager The Rlpa ripp3d up his contract and Sam found a new manager. Then he contacted the tigers and put out some feelers.
4 other clubs came back with interest given it was only 2 weeks ago.He chose the 2 yr deal with the titans!
The Tigers have Still not contacted his management!
Sam rang Madge yesterday to let him know what he was doing and Madge said he was very disappointed and recruitment had stuffed up.
Did Sam chase big money No, he signed for not much more this year than the tigers said they would offer.
Loyalty goes both was!
And if a club demonstrates you are only secondary to there plan well go to a club that wants you!

I'd hate to be in the dressing room now, the morale would be average.. You have a young man played well and out the door after being offered a minimum 1 year deal. Then you have Reynolds, Packer and Leilua J sitting pretty with large contracts and their respective contributions have been minimal. Leilua's signing is on the current administration and has been a disaster. He should only have been offered a 2 year deal with the second in our favour.

Yeh, I don’t know why we keep the journos in a job? They must have a good belly laugh every time WT serves themselves up on a platter? “ WT creates their own version of McIntyre System” how not to play finals footy. ?

Let's stop beating around the bush putting bombs up into the trees like Happy.
It's pretty simple to figure out what's happened here.

We offered him a contract. His new management fished around for a better one, which they found at the Titans.
WT's weren't willing to match the offer, hence they don't value him that high. Simples

That is correct.

I think it's a mistake, but I'm going to hope our recruitment team know better.

no doubt that's true but why did it take this long? contract negotiations should've started nov 1 last year. look at Melb signing people like Paps, Grant, Hughes, B Smith etc when they were nobodies.

We've learnt nothing from the Big 4 debacle.

He had issues with his previous management. Maybe that was part of the delay.

His new management represent Tyson Gamble as well, and were pretty keen to get him up north.

Players go through management changes and other issues regularly, there are plenty of excuses but we should've been clear about whether Sam is going to be a part of our squad for 2021 6 months ago. A regular in our 17 and still no contract with pre-season starting.. Sums us up.

Maybe his lack of response was seen as he wasn't interested? He was a reserve bench player, this continuing talk isreally not required anymore, he's gone.

Exactly we have to place some faith in the people doing the work.WTS haven’t set the comp on fire over the way things have been handled over the past 5 years maybe time to try something different what need to remember these guys are paid for what they do and us FORUMERS are just keyboards Warriors looking from the outside thinking we know better!

It probably sat with McIntyre . It’s minimum wage so , that slot could be filled by anyone , so it wasn’t like someone was missed in the meantime .

Better than here - he didn't have a career at all.

Some people still don't get it. It's not about this one player. It's about the recruitment policy and structures we have in place. He was clearly a stand out player at the backend of the year, the signs of that should've been evident to the coaching staff a year ago and contract negotiations should've started then. This is another player that has played 20 odd games, made a lot of mistakes, learnt from it and now another team is going to reap benefits of it.

Yeh if he doesn't kick on at the Titans then we will forget about it but based on everything we know so far, it's a stuff up. We shouldn't have let him go.

No wonder no one takes the Tigers seriously. We will continually be used as a stepping stone. And again, it's not about one player- it's our decisions or lackthereof last 5 years.

Or maybe the Tigers *let* him go for reasons we dont know. Everything you have said is assumptions based on zero information.

It's based on assumption of years following this club and the NRL.

It's pointless arguing over this as people don't see the big picture.
