Parramatta, if your Grandad, dad, and your kid follow the Eels, you could have all grown up in the same area and always attended the same park, its a history thing, years of following, its an owned area…
We dont own Campelltown. We havent really tried... We own Leichhardt, thats another old blood born and bred area, and we are very lucky to have that brand of fan. Im old Lidcombe stock, my ties to Wests Tigers are stronger than my ties to Campelltown Magpies, hell the Tigers have now been there longer, but it is a place that has to be fought for... they copped a very average Magpies team on arrival down there, then were flicked a merger after 12 odd yrs, and we are expecting them to feel as entrenched as old bloods... and to fill the stadium themselves.
Fight for the place, it will show the old stone nosed dinosaurs they arent neglected, get the place to paint itself black orange and white create that ownership vibe down there, and we can breed some new blood... if we give up on the place, at best we stay the same membership, more likely alienate some of the locals and drop some numbers, but if we stay and do the hard yards....

There are passionate WT fans of ALL backgrounds and orgins that follow WT at all venues.. But as you can see by the twitter screenshot below, apparently you can't call or chant at a WT game as just 'Wests'
Chanting your team name is seen as the reason and cause for all of Wests Tigers problems. Not an issue at all to chant 'Tigers,Tigers'.. but god forbid don't chant 'Wests'
Hypocrisy?, ignorance? Double standards? take your pick…

But if you pick this fight, take exception to the tweet, which you seem to by bothering to post it, you will just end up in a tit-for-tat somewhere along the line. Truth be told they were probably trying to make a statement, I know I feel like it sometimes, hell even stooped low once in this thread in frustration myself.
I dont like being called Balmain by mistake during games, Im riled up inside everytime someone jibes about the size of the Magpie on the sleeve... **but if you look at the colours in the pic, I put that down to ignorance both ways, they were after a reaction and got it**... give it any more attention than it has now and a non issue becomes an issue, another volley in a d*** sizing contest.
Flip has the right idea, roll the eyes and move on.

A better commitment to the area is needed, coupled with some sustained on field success to draw the region in. Sport wise, Sydney fans are fickle by nature and want to see their team win or at the very least compete in return for their hard earned.
All Manly home games going forward should be at CSS for the very obvious reasons, with at least another Sydney side to play there. If we are playing well, Leichhardt will get decent crowds irrespective of whom we're playing. Unfortunately while ANZ are paying us to play, they get first dibs on all quality opponents in Sydney so an equitable distribution of the remaining quality opposition is required at LO and CSS. This is something that should ensure both regions see quality football and enjoy bumper crowds as a result.
CB im assuming that your from the C-town area so i think you might be an ideal person to put this to..
in your post you say that "better commitment in the area is needed". Im just very curious to know how the wests tigers can be more committed to south-west sydney or even the magpies side of the joint venture ?
We train in the inner-west suburb of Concord which is closest to Wests Ashfield but also ideally positioned next to Leichardt/ Balmain. So in terms of keeping both sides of the joint venture happy i think Concord is perfectly located as a training base for our franchise (Unless we get our own centre of excellence in C-town).
In terms of opposition allocation to C-town and leichardt, some posters seem to be of the belief that C-town continually hosts low crowd drawing teams. But from what i can tell that couldn't be further from the truth with allocation of matches being even across all three grounds. That can't be used as an excuse anyway with the Penrith game in round two last year on a sunny Sunday afternoon only attracting 9700 (you can't get closer to CSS then Penrith).
In terms of marketing and exposure of games Im not to sure why there has been so many complaints. If anything i think that the inner-west matches get neglected more so then those at C-town. leichardt games seem to get exposed in the media much more but that is from external sources and as a result of external forces, this has nothing to do with Wests Tigers management and does not depict any lack of commitment to CSS or percieved preference to leichardt. In fact the club marketed this weeks game well with the whole "2460 vs 2040" challenge, the gear-zone meet and greet and the $10 tickets to watch 4 games including the magpies (even though it wasn't advertised properly, they still tried to "commit"to something).
I also read somewhere as well that the Tigers allocate double the resources to C-town marketing then they do in any other area, but not to sure how accurate that statement is.
Seriously, as i type this i ask myself how are they not committed ? what more can they do ? can anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me how the Wests Tigers (not the media) neglect the Wests side of the JV in preference of Balmain ?
Perhaps the $30 ticket prices are to expensive ? well Mayer has recognised that and brought the prices down to $10 for our next match against the Broncos and its been put out there (hopefully he markets it better this time though). So where is the neglection ? they recognised a potential contributory factor to poor crowds at CSS and they've addressed it. To me that shows some "commitment" to draw better crowds at C-town.
Im not having a pot shot at anyone i seriously am not i'm just so shocked and dumbfounded by some of the complaints, conspiracy theories and the general whinging by some people on here when their statements are mostly not supported by the facts.
Im a WESTS TIGERS supporter who doesn't live in either heartland, with no connection to either side of the JV and i attend most home games across all three grounds. I have no bias and I'm dead curious…

For men in their 30's and older to use such reprehensible language towards a female, there is no excuse for that. They are all gutless cowards of the highest order

Quick question. Were you one of the disgusting cowards that sent the young lady vile tweets? There were a lot of you.
It is a misguided view but not deserving of the reaction she received from grown arsed men.
If you were one of those people feel free to PM me with your seat number at any one of our home grounds so I can come over and have a chat about it

@Sataris said:One key thing I keep seeing mentioned is growth of the SW.
and to be sure the SW is growing and growing, one little thing no-one is mentioning is who is causing the growth?
Who is moving to the SW? Mostly immigrants who have little to zero experience with Rugby League. The Idea that they are going to be immediately interested in the local sporting team is absurd.
According to the 2011 Census 45% of the people who live in Campbelltown had both parents born overseas.
so you can pretty much forget about targetting them.
The kids are where its at.
30% of campbelltowns population is less than 20 years old. The kids are the ones who are going to become fans of the tigers (or other clubs).
Is playing games there the answer? Remember parents who have nfi what league is or who the tigers are aren't going to take their kids to games.
and Depsite everything else that's been said, it's not a case of supporting AFL OR Soccer OR NRL. Most people support a team in each code.
having said all that I'm just a nuffie on an internet forum so all of this should be taken with a healthy dose of sodium chloride
