Mitch Moses Denied Release - Confirmed

Just stumbled onto something I'd totally forgotten about

FTB will just love this , Isaac Moses was one of the three managers suspended from having dealings with players for 6 months after the Melbourne Storm salary cap scandal

How those managers were not suspended for life is beyond me. Typical soft as punishment from the NRL. Isaac Moses sounds like a quality bloke :unamused:
Will be a good day when none of our clubs' players are managed (manipulated) by this fungus.

With no Stryker anymore , who will pull you into line ??

I accept the challenge Mexican

Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary won't rule out asking Mitchell Moses to backflip on Parramatta Eels deal

Michael Chammas - SMH

Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary has left the door open for the club to keep Mitchell Moses beyond this season, admitting he would consider asking the five-eighth to renege on his deal with the Eels.

Despite Saturday night's shock victory against the Cowboys in Townsville, Cleary won't budge on his decision to make James Tedesco and Aaron Woods his priority signings ahead of Moses.

However, given contracts aren't finalised until a 10-day cooling off period has expired, the club has nearly two weeks to get Moses to renege on his deal with the Eels for 2018 and beyond.

When Fairfax Media asked if he would attempt to get Moses to backflip on his Eels deal should Tedesco and Woods pledge their commitment to the Tigers before Moses' 10-day cooling period expired, Cleary said: "Yeah, possibly".

The coach is adamant Woods and Tedesco remain the focus.

"In terms of the priority and our decision to prioritise, that's not going to change," Cleary said.

"That's all that was, a priority. Mitchell decided he wanted to move on and you know what, that's fine. I understand that. All we ask is the player represents the jersey well for their teammates and for themselves. They all did that, including Mitch."

The Eels and Moses' manager, Isaac Moses, are applying plenty of pressure on the Tigers to release the five-eighth to join Parramatta this year.

The Tigers definitely won't release him and allow him to play against the Tigers for Parramatta on Easter Monday, but there remains a strong possibility he will end up in blue and gold at some point throughout the year.

However that is not Cleary's intention, admitting he wants Moses to stick around to see out his contract at the Tigers.

"I haven't contemplated letting him go," Cleary said.

"I'm still absorbing what has happened. He's part of the team. Essentially these things often get sorted out by the players themselves. I saw what you saw tonight. We'll see what happens.

"Mitch prepared for the game really well and always looked focused to me. Obviously I don't know him really well but he certainly wasn't showing any signs of being disengaged or anything like that. His performance showed that. He was one of 17 guys that went out there and did their best and were accountable for their own performances. And full marks to them."

One of the advantages for Isaac Moses in his bid to get the five-eighth across to Parramatta this season is that he will then have more money to work with in regards to Tedesco and Woods.

Moses' departure would see the Tigers free up space in this year's salary cap and dedicate additional funds to Tedesco and Woods.

It remains unclear whether the skipper and superstar fullback will remain in Tiger town, but Cleary is desperate to get a picture of what the future looks like at the joint venture.

"We want to get it sorted sooner rather than later," Cleary said. "We've stated that we want them to stay. It's over to them now. It'd be nice if they stayed, it would be fantastic."

Woods, who was quite emotional after the victory against the Cowboys, said the motivation behind the win was a pursuit to rediscover the love for the sport.

"You get a new coach in with a few new ideas - it's always good to hear a new voice," Woods said.

"Before we ran out we said: why do we play rugby league? We just said: because we love it and it's so much fun. When you finish a game as a kid, you want to play another game. That's what I said to the boys - let's just have fun like we did when we were kids."

I am not fussed….one good game doesnt mean he is worth what the media is saying. I am still happy for him to move on as someone who throws his toys out of the pram when the going gets tough.
Be interesting to see how he plays next week against Parra if he is still around.
This is what bugs me....if i was Moses my first thought before signing would be who are we signing for next season so we are competitive. My next thought would be if we could get those players how much do you require in the cap to get them as I would be happy to play for x amount as long as we get some decent forwards. If not, I am gone end of season.

Moses should be worrying about how he can make this team better and which players can we recruit to make us stronger ( i am not insinuating that Moses tells the coaching staff who to recruit but players will always let the coaching staff know who they rate and who they would like to play with). Money (at this stage of his career) should be a decent 3rd.

I hope Michael Chammas has something else to write about soon. He has 1 or 2 tigers articles a day.

At least he doesn't put the boot in constantly

Let him go if he wants to walk.

However negotiate a date and a salary subsidy. I am sick of us just giving away players. Why the hell are we paying into Souths cap, why did we loose so many to Cronulla?

It seems to me that the best strategy is that of Easts and Cronulla, pick what the others reject and make a great team of good players. As opposed to making a good team of some great and some average players.

Ivan though worked this concept at Penrith with 1/2 of our current staff. The good bit is we won't have Phil Gould acting like a prick ruining any of our clubmen wanting to stay.

Hopefully that means Ivan will sign a good deal for Tedesco and Woods. Hopefully too we can wish Moses farewell and good luck with his new team! No "I hope the door slams your arse" but "I hope your future goes well". Likewise if Woods or Tedesco walk, hope we treat them the same.

Why the hate? Yes we developed some of these guys, but we don't own them. Lets end the bitter exits and start fostering a good club culture so that people will want to stay.

Dont always agree with what you say but am 1000% in agreement with this.

Hate the teams that steal them off us, not the players.
However, if a player disrespects our club by acting the way Moses did, they deserve to be hated and booed everytime they play against us.

If Moses does re-sign with Wests Tigers who will the club use as their regular goalkicker. Moses' goalkicking is really bordering on the unreliable and that's something our club can't afford.

Moses wasn't even that good on the weekend. He disappeared for huge portions. Started well. MCK did butcher a try he put on a plate for him. But we mostly won on the back of the hookers.

The soap opera continues, poor bugger though is getting bad advice - his position is getting weaker all the time.

It was a rash decision to leave and now he's played his hand.

Seems like it was an emotional decision hence the 10 day cooling off period. I'd like him to stay because regardless of the form of Widdop, Moses to me has far more upside and it wasn't long ago that Widdop was on the nose big time with Dragons' fans.

Is he a Tigers fan by any chance? I started to develop a hunch last week, on the back of James Hooper, that maybe part of the reason of a lot of coverage of Tigers in the press is because of a number of Tigers supporters in these jobs?

Hooper is a staunch supporter (so he says), Christian Jantzen who was (is?) on Fox Sports follows Tigers, as does Warren Smith. Roy Masters always posts stuff because of his old Magpies ties.

Widdop will come back to the pack here unless we give him a forward pack who'll allow him to do his job. Marshall outperformed him behind the same beaten pack in 2015.

Mate if he was a fan he probably would have torn shreds off us!
Seems too balanced to be emotionally invested.

If true, maybe we can throw the remaining portion of Mitch's 2016 Contract at Teddy and Woodsy. A few extra $$$ to get us over the line, which wont impact on next year's cap.
