Tauber talking of an appeal if things dont go their way.
Humpty saying he will accept Schuberts decision either way ensuring an appeal is out of the question now should Schooeys decision go against us - unless he changes his mind again.
Good to see all concerned on the same page

Nothing new here…

Dragons have given up on Moltzen deal
BY TIM BARROW

Tim Moltzen is likely to remain with Wests Tigers next year, regardless of the NRL's findings over the contractual dispute with St George Illawarra.

Dragons officials are waiting on the outcome before commenting publicly, but privately concede Moltzen will stay put.

Both Moltzen and his manager Martin Tauber have declared the versatile fullback does not want to play for the Dragons.

"Obviously friendships and family and not wanting to move and other considerations all came into play," Tauber said.

"It's just been a sorry and sad situation that it's got to this stage."

The sticking point remains the terms on which the Moltzen saga is resolved.

NRL salary cap auditor Ian Schubert - called in to referee the dispute - is mulling over information provided by the Tigers and Dragons this week.

Moltzen has a valid contract with the Tigers, because Wests were yet to finalise a release for him after he signed a three-year deal with the Dragons.

Wests could not match St George Illawarra's offer.

But the Tigers decided to keep Moltzen after he produced a superb run of form late this season, because they are expected to sack halfback Robert Lui over an alleged assault.

If Schubert deems the Dragons have the contractual standing, they will be prepared to sit down with Moltzen and see if he will change his mind about coming to Wollongong.

But unless there is a major change of heart, the Dragons are prepared to move on even if they are ruled to be in the right - though they will pursue compensation from the Tigers.

Jason Nightingale may be used at fullback instead as a replacement for Darius Boyd.

However, the Mercury learned that Kyle Stanley remains a viable option because of his kicking and passing game.

Bronx Goodwin will also be in the reckoning next year if he is fully fit, but it is likely he will have to work his way back through the NSW Cup.

And the compensation would only come about IF Schubert tells the Dragons they are in the right, wouldn't that be the case?

In any event, I can't imagine he'd go to the Dragons now and at this stage it strongly appears Moltzen will be our halfback for next year. Hope he learns to pass the ball, unlike this year at fullback.

Dw he will and yeh only if it goes there way but dw his going to show us why his heart is in tigers and his cheaper then lui 😀 we need to re sign beau ryan next year to and moltzen few ppl on the market

Agree softlaw. This thread has the ability to overtake the Lote thread with the amount of times we go back and forward with 'will he' or 'won't he' be with us next year.

I don't how you come to that conclusion

It will be an interesting clash with the Dragons when we meet in 2012 - I think Tim will come in for plenty of attention!

I must admit the whole affair has left me feeling a little uncomfortable, lets face it if it wasn't for the allegations against Lui I highly doubt the Tigers would have tried to use the loophole in that a release wasn't signed.

I cant help but feel it would have been better for Moltzen for the Benji umbilical cord to be cut - he has come out of a little tarnished and it will be interesting to see what happens when he next negotiates a contract, particularly if the Tigers are keen to off-load him again.

Whether or not he is a long term option at halfback also remains to be seen (if of course that is the plan).

Re sign him his a gun and hb for long term benjii and moltzen they will kill it in the halves all the way and im sure will re sign him long term lui is about to get sacked anyways….

Which conclusion is that, that he'll be the halfback? Seems to be what most of the talk out of the papers indicates, not that that means anything obviously, but also he's at least had more first grade experience than the next choice in Miller. You'd think if Lui goes, Sheens would put Moltzen in at half.

I have to say, I'm not sure what Lui has to do with Moltzen staying or going. The 'rumour' that he wanted to stay was going a good week before any incident with Lui. I understand he might want to stay more now, especially if Lui ends up going, but geez I'm sick of people saying the Tigers changed their mind on the release after the Lui incident. IT IS GARBAGE.

So when did they change their mind?
…and why....
