WESTS Tigers bench forward Junior Moors has found a home at the club and is hopeful of re-signing for next season.

Moors joined the Tigers in 2010 after making his NRL debut for Penrith in 2007.

Having spent three seasons at the club and off contract at the end of the year, Moors is eager to extend his stay.

“I’m not contracted with anyone at the moment,” Moors said.

“I’m talking to the club and talking to a few so we’ll just see how things go.

“That would be great (to stay), the missus is pretty settled in the area and I’m happy here with the boys, they’re all a good bunch of blokes so it would be good to stay.”

Tipping the scales at 113kg, the 26-year-old credits Keith Galloway and Adam Blair as two people who have helped him adjust to the NRL.

“Just being switched on not just here at the club but when you go home, being professional in everything I do,” he said.

“Food, sleep and stuff like that.

"It’s something I have struggled with over the last couple of years, keeping my weight down but it’s been good this year.”

Moors has played 11 first-grade games this year and is expected to be named on the bench for Friday night’s match against the first placed Canterbury Bulldogs.

With almost 50 first grade games to his name, Moors has never taken part in a finals series, something he is hopful of accomplishing this year.

“I’m starting to feel more comfortable in the team now,” he said.

“I’m just worrying about trying to make the finals now, not worrying about being up and down, just trying to string a few games together.

“I’m excited about the finals.

“I just want to keep doing my job for the team.

“Hopefully we get there and I’ll be a part of it.”

In eighth place on the ladder, the Tigers have a two point buffer over ninth spot with Saturday’s win over St George Illawarra.

With three rounds remaining in the reguar season, the Tigers must face the Bulldogs, Roosters and Storm to complete the regular season.

With their place in the finals not yet cemented, Moors says they must continue to build on their last two wins and continue gaining momentum.

“We can't be complacent,” he said.

“We cant think about the buffer, we ned to keep getting the wins and not worry about that last win and trying to scrape in.

"We need to continue the form.”

I would love to have him stay but no space for him in the side…he is better of going back to penrith or finding a new home newcastle and eels will be good places

Happy for Junior to stay, he's got some size and go forward in him, but he's a depth signing unless he can really take his game to the next level and increase his workrate in defence.

He is only 26, the vast majority of forwards never reach potential until their mid to late 20s. I've seen enough to want to keep him around.

Sorry, but he's been with us for 3 years & in that time Ive only once seen him utilize his alleged 113 kgs to go even close to having any substantial impact on an opposition forward pack.
That was some time ago,& from memory was coming off contract then as he is now,so expect more effort in the next few weeks.
Been a disappointment tbh,& not realising his potential with us so better off elsewhere

WhenMoors actually starts punching holes though the defense with regularity and hurts in defense he may warrant a contract until then no way as money should be spent on the juniors coming though… the Tigers have way to many just NRL players time to get some mongrel and dynamic hitters .

He has had his best year in terms of attitude and professionalism.

Happy for him to stay.

Keep anyone still available for NYC on NYC contracts and offer them second tier bonuses for NRL games.

It is about having manageable depth across the park and he helps provide that. He is on minimal dollars and won't be getting a pay rise if he stays.

The one problem we have had club wide through all the grades is forward depth and you don't get rid of NRL experienced depth unless you have to.

Of real concern is that neither he or Cashmere are signed up yet. What exactly is the clubs front row plans?

I have been fairly critical of Junior and the reasons were warranted. But I must say over the last couple of weeks I have seen improvement in his game, particularly against Saints. I thought it was interesting what he said about Galloway and Blair helping him take his game to a new level. I can see Blair being a great mentor to someone like Junior.

If we could get him to hit the ball up hard and get shoulder into his tackles he could be a great bench forward. The changes he is making away from the playing field could be just the right ingredients to turn him into a First Grader. If he is on reasonable cash then I would like to give him a year with an option in our favor. He has age on his side. However on the other side, he has had three years and accomplished little so I will understand the clubs position if they elect to let him go.

If he leaves he should go to the Storm. I bet Bellamy would have him as a major strike weapon within 6 weeks!

Good question Smeg. Let's break it down with what we know:

Front rowers on board for next year:

1\. Woods
2\. Galloway
3\. Fotuaika
4\. Pettybourne (more of a backrower though)

Off contract/status unknown:

1\. Moors
2\. Bell
3\. Cashmere
4\. Groat

Cashmere is the oldest of the lot and there may very well be serious questions as to whether he stays.
Bell has performed well this year, and defensively he has been excellent and the club should take up the 1 year option they have on him if they haven't already.
Moors at 26, still has some decent football left in him, and could improve with some more hard work and a willingness to increase his workrate in defence.
Groat, only young but has had a rough season ruined through injury and loss of confidence after being knocked out in a sickening hit. I'd keep him for next year, but not at the expense of paying him "overs".

I cannot think of anyone else at this stage.

Willow - Is Fotuaika big enough to handle first grade. On the WT website he only weights 100 kg which is light for a modern day prop.

I would keep Moors but pair him up with Galloway to improve his game. At 113 kgs he has the size but just needs to move his game to next level.

Is there any big boppers in State Cup that could take the next step.

I hope he does resign, I like the bloke but I hope he gets more game time next year, ATM he is only getting game time when we have injuries

I would sign Moors to a one year contract & see how he goes as long as its not overs, still plenty of props looking for clubs, Masoe, Dodds, Poore, Shackleton,Henderson just to name a few.

Fotuaika is young, give him an offseason and he'll put on a few kilos. He's got no trouble powering through blokes in the NYC, he's averaging roughly 10 metres per hit up and bumped off 4 Dragons players to score the match winner last week, so he's got some strength and power.

Also need to bear in mind that Pettybourne may very well be used in the front row from time to time, and I'm confident Fotuaika will be bigger than him next year.

Thank you Willow for your comments.

Glad to see some young talent coming through the grades.

Would love to find another Woods

You have to ask yourself at age 26 why he hasn't made a major impression either here or peviously at Penrith

Understand both at Penrith and here he has been behind quality props but I haven't seen any major improvements in his game
