I cannot believe the Mbye criticism that gets posted on this forum do you expect a player that has been stripped of his captaincy & is not even in the leadership group anymore has the fullback position that he was training for all off-season suddenly taken away from him & put on the bench to whole heartedly perform for the coach I don’t think so he will lift & play well for the dragons.

Ask yourself why he was stripped of those things. If he was doing those jobs at even a satisfactory level, he’d still be doing them.

He is a dud signing. We need him out of here.

He wasn’t a dud signing. He was signed on dud money.

That depends on your definition of a dud signing. The cost is one half, and performance the other. When the two don't equal each other you could say that player was a dud signing (poor value). The Mbye signing fails on both counts, although for the apparent lack of effort he puts in I'd go one step further and say he is a complete dud signing, walking along the edge of Adam Blair territory.

At the time, there weren’t too many complaints. Mainly cos Ivan walked on water when he coached us and everything he did was God-like. The forum couldn’t wait to get him to replace Lolohea. The ironic thing, he turned out to be a lot worse, if you want to take into account his salary.

Far out what? Not much the club could do if Talau didn’t want to go. And at the end of the day, JAC didn’t want to come here anyway, so what can you do?

At one point Melb were willing to release him to the Tigers and he was all for it till Tigers weren't willing to send Talau or Nofo the other way.

Is this confirmed ? Can anyone prove this ?

No they can't prove it,it is just that murdochs media pushed the rumour and the rumour gathered momentum despite zero evidence.

Blair was better value,it is just Sheens signed him to do a job that was not within his area of ability.Tim also booted out loyal juniors to get Blair here and Sheens days were numbered after Blair couldnt deliver

To be fair, he was playing much better under Ivan initially.

For the moment, forget about how much he is on and ask yourself if you believe he was a success. My answer is a resounding no.

Was so long ago I don't recall the original source however I do recall seeing and interview with Madge at the time where he was asked by a reporter about the rumors surrounding a swap between JAC and either Talau or Nofo and he kind of scoffed and said "David and Tommy aren't going anywhere".

There were also quoted discussions at the time advising JAC was open to the idea of returning to the Tigers hence the 'Heads of Agreement' he had with the Tigers. IMO you don't sign a Heads of Agreement if you have zero intent to follow it through. Once a suitable swap couldn't be brokered he decided to stay in Melb therefore nullifying the terms of the agreement which in turn left him free to take up a richer deal with Dogs months later.

Nope, but it's fun for some to bring up every week.

It's a fair point. He is a pretty good bench utility. We are paying him to be our marquee player and that is why it doesn't work.

Agreed completely, If you were only paying him 300k ish then you probably wouldn't be as upset if he didn't produce marquee like results.

Initially yes, and then his true nature shone through and it wasn’t good.

If we pay half of Mbye's wage to offload him to someone like the Dragons, we need to sign someone better than him on half the money.

If not, we're giving a competing side a huge leg-up while we go backwards.

As much as everyone's using Mbye as a punching bag for our frustrations, it's a massive gamble.

Hey, no dramas, we’re gonna get a financial settlement 🙃

Agree whole heartedly, he was useless as captain and having him in the squad after being demoted is telling about how bad the depth has got.
I think we keep him cause of the money we have spent on him over the years and his player manager causing issues on exit.
Just cause you overpaid for something doesn't mean it's worth more.

I'm with you. I remember a game against Canberra where he ran really fast past all the players on the other team and scored a try and that was so good. And his jumper is still really clean and nice at the end of a game. And I like how he gets a jumper with a really cool number like 14 when all the bad players get to wear jumpers with dumb numbers like 1, 6, 7 and 12. And the coach must really like him because he doesn't even make him play a whole game. And I like that he is so popular that he even gets allowed to talk to other clubs. And I like that he has names that start with same letter same as Bugs Bunny, Gary Glitter and Mitchell Moses 💗 but not like Eminem. Haters gunna hate.

So do you think we will have an update on Mbye signing this week? I hope we do so we can all move on and if the Conner Watson rumour is true we can look at that avenue.

I know he played 20min at dummy half but would expect more than 65m from a fullback in 60 minutes..

The Bloke is phoning it in..
