Well….theres another bloody waste of time...two steps forward, three steps back

If he had a pathetic attitude that didn't warrant his pay packet, maybe they're better off cutting their losses.

Disappointing, I had high hopes for him. At least Marsters slips in and doesn't get left out of the 17\. I couldn't find a place for him our first 17 beforehand.

Same here, plus if Esan fits the bill, he will get an extension and the cash opened up by the departure.

I hope you are right Marsters and Mikaele are the only players I’d extend and upgrade now rather than waiting. Sue is also off contract but he has to show some consistency as he has been off the boil.

On form our starting centres have to be Marsters and Milne and given we have Nofa, MWZ, Fonua, Kev, Thompson to cover I doubt Suli coming back at 125kgs would have aby chance of making the squad.

He has gotten $100k odd from us for the first three months of his contract for this season and peeved a good few of his now former teammates with his attitude in the process, so good riddance.

A young bloke on 433k a year.
Gains 15kg whilst in recovery.
Sleeps in for 3 hours in a mates car in the car park while his teammates are training instead of ripping In with them.

And says….”I want to reach my full potentential”.

Do it elsewhere son.
Good on you Pascoe and Co. We got rid off the big heads last year and setting a standard means if you don’t meet it then go.
I would have loved to see him in black and gold for years but not with an attitude like this.
The precedent has been set and its damn good one.

Yep, the new culture is there for all to see…in the past we put up with nor did we address this sort of attitude...

Shame, but great to see the club setting an example that they won’t tolerate poor attitudes which can impact on a winning culture.

It’s actually really refreshing to hear a player manager state that the club did everything we could to make things right and provided him with support and chances to improve before the end result. You don’t hear that very often, so it looks like the club handled the situation professionally and considered Suli’s welfare throughout the process. Coming to an amicable outcome whilst still setting a precendent across the board.

It’s also nice to see the club nip this in the bud appropriately and not allow the media to run a smear campaign for a change. It’ll be dead news by tomorrow unlike previous dramas. Another tick for Cleary and Pascoe.

Most 19 yo's have a pathetic attitude
This is what a pro sports club has to deal with these days…egos and crap attitudes as well as football talent and development.
It disillusions me about the game further, along with many other things...self entitled Aholes blessed with a gift peeing it away like the spoilt turds they are
Hopefully its a blessing for us in the long run

Yeah , but we seem to get more than our fair share of the 19 yo's you speak of

Yet Melbourne and others seem to get very few of these problem kids

Maybe its more because youngsters want to be at certain clubs , whereas others can see another light at the end of another tunnel

Kids will put up with the crap they don't like , as long as they are winning

Tigers have come out looking fantastic here, despite the Aaron Woods heresay. I like the no nonsense attitude.

I say stuff him, that explains why we never saw any pics of him really ripping in during summer….

The fact we aren't paying a cent suggests there are multiple breaches on Suli's side of the deal.

Fair call. And clubs will put up with the crap too, as long as they're winning.

Who are the other crappy 19yo's people are referring to? BMM comes to mind as does Paseka (released to Manly last season)…I think we've generally had veteran players behave much more unprofessionally than our youngsters.

Our actions with Suli are what any strong club would do. Melbourne turfed Matt Lodge after repeated ill-discipline.

All good if he fails - but if he excels the message we are sending then becomes "a good move by Suli". Culture changes with success.
Last year this kid was going to be our future. I really hope it ends up being a good move but at this point I am not so convinced. We need to be able to manage and retain our talent not distribute it.
An able replacement will make good sense -otherwise dont share the good riddance mentality its becoming a bit old.

The worst part of this is the young man suffers no real consequence for his lack of discipline. Another club signs him up on a similar contract and he can go back to sleeping in the car while his team mates train. I just do not understand how a young man on over $400k a year behaves in this way?

It looks like it was a very borderline call and one not made in haste. It appears that the club approached everyone in his private circle to try to motivate him without a positive result. It also appears that his performance was impacting the rest of the team. Sometimes you just have to cut your losses.

Not having a go at you personally Happy, but let's put this "it doesn't happen at other successful clubs" fanciful BS to rest.
Melbourne's good ol' cleanskin youngsters of days gone by put their signatures on fraudulent contracts remember? Then there is their most promising junior in Munster who has been in the headlines for off-field indiscretions on 3 or so occasions….who knows if there are more that haven't become public? Their future captain and member of their leadership group in Bromwich gets busted snorting coke in the street. Then there is Lodge, his problems started at Melbourne initially.
Then there's the Broncos with persistent rumours of a drug culture a few years back, remember the infamous "3 blokes in the nightclub dunny" incident that got swept under the carpet? Karmichael Hunt was rumoured to be involved if I remember correctly, that says something I'd reckon.
And the Roosters, with Pearce, SKD, Friend, Ferguson, Latrell Mitchell, Nikorima etc who are in the headlines fairly regularly for the wrong reasons. Even Fittler got outed on a few occasions when he was there.
So this hogwash that "successful" clubs don't have player indiscretions in pure rubbish. Have got a sneaking suspicion that extra monies paid on top of a players' contract at these "successful" clubs plays a big role in getting a player to pull his head in.....in the crisis meeting an official from these clubs may just state "look (insert name), you can stay here on your $400 000 per season contract with your free apartment/luxury car/paper bag of off-the-books cash thrown on top or you can head off to another club that doesn't have access to these "extras" and earn minimum wage, the choice is yours". That may be the reason why top-end clubs manage to turn players' attitudes around.

Yep a difficult decision no doubt. But clearly the "boy" still wants to play footy and another club more than eager to take him on knowing his attitude. Something went a miss somewhere too easy to just put all the onus on a kid - imo.

Kid or no kid though Telltails, if he is bludging while his mates are busting their guts on the training paddock you can't just let that attitude rule over team discipline and harmony.

I like Suli too but I can understand a point is reached where his lack of professionalism impacts the playing squad. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the new "hard heads" were not consulted on the decision.
