Am in two minds about Seven Psychopaths, Peaches. While I enjoyed, I was confused if it was critiquing violence in films and culture or revelling in it? Or both? It was very funny but unsettling too.

Saw The Railway Man. Colin Firth was pretty amazing, and a good story too.

I think it was definately doing both. It wasn't one for the faint hearted but as Sam's character said "it's called seven psychopaths" hahaha

I just saw Seven Psychopaths. What a great movie. A new favourite for me. From the same director writer as In Bruges.

Sick movie.
As mentioned, Rockwell is the man.

I watched;
Don Jon - wrote, directed and starring one of my favs, Joseph Gordon-Levitt… Movie sucks, avoid at all costs.
2GUNS - Wahlberg and Washington, light weight bit of fun... worth a watch. Weak ending.
RUNNER RUNNER - Affleck/Timberlake.... Boringggg

I cannot think of an action nor a thriller that has come out of hollywood recently that is any good.

For that reason I keep going back to Asian cinema. The stories are harder, definetly more challenging but interesting. There is very few creative people left in Hollywood. Asia is booming.

Watched I Saw the Devil last night…..Terrific revenge thriller from South Korea. Very intense and quite disturbing but definetly worth a look as long as you dont mind subtitles. Stars the main dude out of Oldboy (original) and the ninja out of GI Joe Retaliation.

Story centres around a cop tracking down a serial killer who murdered his wife. That is the only part of this film that is cliche'd.From then on it is a brutal tale of cat and mouse, retribution and suspenseful entertainment. 8.5/10.

Speaking of Sam Rockwell, I watched a movie called The Way Way Back over the Christmas break. Also has Steve Carrell and Toni Collette, and is done by the same guys as Little Miss Sunshine.

It was an awesome movie. Simple story line but great light-hearted humour. Rockwell was fantastic, he played his character so well. I must admit though, casting Steve Carrell as the antagonist was not the best… Just didn't suit him at all

Wow! Traversing the full spectrum of acting talent there! Will keep an eye out for it.

I know this is the "movie" thread, but has anyone seen American Horror Story? I'm into the second season and it is really good. Very not suitable for children but if you like horror I highly recommend it.

I've seen some American Horror Story. Only season 3 though (which I'm very much enjoying). It's a good show, but you can tell they put some stuff in just to make the show seem out there and weird, that don't really have anything to do with anything or make any sense.
Worth a watch though, and I'm looking forward to watching S1 and S2\. (The series are completely unconnected stories otherwise if never do that)

I started from the beginning and from completing season 1, it is like a singular, season long movie. Now into season 2, it is a completely different story, but with many of the same actors playing different roles (obviously, as it's a different story!), which is unique to me.

I haven't noticed anything too out of place so far, but if I had to have one whinge it would be that it is a bit too 'derivative' which lets it down slightly.

While we're on TV, I've recently started watching Game of Thrones. That show is addictive. You can't get too attached to anyone though…

i cant believe this, but i watched Jackass' Bad Grandpa tonight and haven't laughed so much at a movie in years!!

i really didnt think i would like it, as i didnt really enjoy their previous efforts much and wasnt into borat either, but almost all of the situations in bad grandpa are hilarious!

POSSIBLE SPOILER!

hopefully without ruining anything, the kiddie beauty pageant scene is the funniest thing i have ever seen in a movie. i laughed soooo hard!

so, if you are like me and dont think you will find it funny at all, i urge you to at least give it a go…you may end up as surprised as i am!

I went and saw Railway Man the other day (Colin Firth and Nicole Kidman). It was enjoyable without reaching any great heights.

Haha yeah that is a classic, silly bugger he is.

Just watched Escape Plan with Stallone and Arnie. Didn't get a theatrical release in Australia as it bombed in the US, but I must say it wasn't a bad film as far as prison break films go.

Strongly suggest checking out the movie Prisoners with Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhall (not sure on spelling). An absolutely brilliant film. Jake and Hugh are awesome in it. If you like a good thriller with plenty of twists and turns, then this is a must watch. Probably in my top 5 movies now over the last 5 years.

It's based around the kidnapping of two young girls and the director really makes you question everyone as a suspect in this film. Quite a dark film, but very very good.

Didn't mind that film, solid acting allround but it's certainly not a happy film. Kind of reminded me of The Grey with its atmospheric feel and overall bleakness.
