Saw the teaser trailer for this a couple of days ago. Looks brilliant. Clash of the Titans also looks impressive.

Everyones raving about avatar…..so I went and saw it.

I thought it would be crap,but it was awesome.

Could be the best sci fi I have seen.

best?

1\. Terminator 2
2\. The Wrath of Kahn
3\. Independence Day

Agree Simon that the two mentioned were pretty poor films. There are some much better sci-fi films out there:

Avalon (polish film as I recall), Blade Runner, Serenity (one of my personal favs), Donnie Darko, Close Encounters, the original star wars franchise, Alien.

All kill the three mentioned IMHO

anyone seen "Children of Men"? Fantastic near-future scifi

I really enjoyed Avatar. But Jim Cameron's best is still the very much overlooked "The Abyss". The Directors Cut of coarse leads to an even greater appreciation of the film.. as they often do.

Best Sci-Fi flicks IMO are, the aforementioned "The Abyss" – "Blade Runner", "The Thing", "Children Of Men", "Twelve Monkeys", "Videodrome" and "THX 1138".

And more recently, the thoroughly excellent "Primer" & "Moon".

Bladerunner is a classic…...Id also like to mention Logans Run and the original Planet of the Apes......both very juicy movies.

Oooooh,and Westworld too....nice ideas!!!

A good list of films there guys and I agree that most are awesome but I'm telling you Avatar does em all….probably with the exception of the first star wars film

For anyone with kids, I took mine to see 'Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs' today.

It has an odd story line, but had some funny moments in it and even though I am not one for kids movies, I could handle it and laughed often.

Saw a very original, unique and wierd film tonight called REPO ! THE GENETIC OPERA.

Hard movie to put into a box - It's a gothic action/horror ( a lot of gore), delivered in the style of an industrial rock opera, its sort of like The Rocky Horror Picture Show for adults mixed with a Nine Inch Nails Concert. Very entertaining.

For those interested here's the link for the trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xETgGym8cnE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This one is one of the cooler songs by the drug dealer called Graverobber - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4oMKCG739s" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Today I watched this movie on dvd called Braindead. The movie was made it the 90's and it is set in New Zealand in the 50's. It's a zombie movie and some parts of it are very funny.

There's a new movie at the cinemas called The Lovely Bones. I might see that sometime over the next few days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikUWKi0W5_g" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I saw this other NZ movie called Bad Taste. I think this movie and Braindead are movies made by Peter Jackson. It sure is a weird movie.

Yeah Jacksons early filmography is in radical contrast to the films he makes nowadays. Bad Taste, Braindead, Meet The Feebles.. its hard to believe New Line gave him $300 million and the LOTR franchise.

Haha those movies are utter crap, I was very surprised when he was given the blockbusters to direct.
