Id like to think that Ivan is stiring the pot.

Keep the fires burning with Penrith takes away the focus on us. Also keeps our players on their toes.

What focus is on us?
We're finished for the year, done, kaput

I'm referring to the negative press we cop from the likes of Rothfield and others.the constant scrutiny over player retention and relocation. Just because our season is kaput, it doesn't mean the media stops reporting.

While other clubs are in the spot light we are not.

A definate NO, the club has done an exceptional job at recruiting the players they have not only talent wise but also with their character & personal traits, the club is going through a huge culture shift, Moylen signing would take the wheels of the bus. The club needs to stay away from Moylen & his personal issues.

If Moylan did happen to come to the club that would spell the end for Brooks IMO.He is in another class to Brooks .

I probably agree with this. But who would be our half? Benji? Lolo?

When Moylan plays in the halves he plays more like a half back than a 5/8\. He always wants to be first to get the ball which was stunting Nathan Clearys progression at Penrith. I could quite easily see him playing at 7 and Reynolds as a running 6\. It certainly opens up a lot of possibilities.

I wouldn't put anyone back to reggies. Reynolds to share 9 with Liddle. Lolo and Moylan at 6 and 1, with brooks at 7.

In the off chance that Moylan did come to the Tigers, does anyone see Brooks making a transition to hooker. Many Half backs have done it in the past.

Gone are the days where our marquee signing for the next season were the likes of Anasta and Keith Lulia. Even if Moylan or Rona don't hop on the bus, the fact we now get linked to these calibre of players shows a vast improvement for the Tigers. Cleary sure has turned this club around

Not sure about this one. I think I'd be tempted to keep my 'powder dry', have some money in the kit to make a big play for another player or two next year once we see how this current lineup performs. It may become obvious throughout the next season that we need to bolster one or two positions, and having plenty of money available from the get go would put us in a strong position to add to the roster in 2019.

Well Gus says he has personal issues. Ivan says he rates him as a player and a person. Maybe it's all mind games. All I know is that Moylan is a very good player.

RIVAL CONFIRMS MOYLAN INTEREST
\
\
Wests Tigers coach Ivan Cleary says he’d be open to picking up Matt Moylan should he depart Penrith.

Moylan is currently taking time out from rugby league to address personal issues and will likely not play again in 2017.

While the Panthers say Moylan is “committed” to his deal which takes him through until 2021, Cleary confirmed he’d be keen to reunite with the NSW representative if he wanted a release.

Cleary coached Moylan at the Panthers and gave him his NRL start back in 2013.

“My understanding is he wants to stay and he’s never stated he wants to leave,” Cleary told Fairfax Media.

“But it’s been a big deal, right? Would I be interested? Yes.

“That hasn’t happened yet, so it’s speculation.”

Fox sports

Okay I'd take him if Gus picks up 50% of 2018 and 25% of 2019

Kicks goals and would be a great FB come 5/8…. I guess that would mean Tui is surplus

Not necessarily - imo Tui is a better Full back than Moylan. Maybe Molan might have to fight for a pozi i FB. With all the x-cess baggage I don't rate him.

I don't rate Moylan as a fullback, he doesn't seem to like getting tackled. Halves only for mine.

To be honest I hope we don't get him.

I do. I think he could really star there with his speed.

Certainly Cleary has been impressive, but to be fair Taylor and Potter neither had any cap to work with. Of course would either of them been able to attract quality players to the club like Cleary has would be the issue I guess.

On Moylan, yes if he fell into our lap I would take him, but in away I would be happy to wait and have a dash at Edwards when he is off contract next year

And now we get people who don't rate Moylan as a player? :unamused:
From some of the things you read he seems unlikeable (and seeing I've never met him I suppose I shouldn't be judgemental) but you cannot deny the guy is a tremendous talent.
If we can get him….sign him up.

Without doubt he is a top shelve player and yes we should have a dash at him if he actually comes onto the market, but if he stays at Penrith it would not be the end of the world, although I would hate to see him end up doing a sea change.

Its beyond baffling isnt it. Moylan is the type of player that when the big game is on the line he takes it upon himself to own the result. These players are very few and far between and take a side from being a top 8 contender to being a premiership contender. He is the final piece of the puzzle. We currently have no player next year besides possibly Benji who has this attribute.

Is Cleary solely responsible for that? It has nothing to do with the fact those were the only players we could afford in previous years? Now that we are out of the woods cap wise, we are actually signing quality players. Don't think that is a coincidence.

Moylan would be the best player in our roster…who cares where he fits or who would make way...We would be crazy not to make inquiries should he become available...

Cleary just stated the obvious...

To those who are saying Brooks could be the one to make way, i ask, who would play halfback?

Does it matter, Brooks has had 4 years to stand up, he hasn't, he would have been punted from every other club.
But for the record, Moylan, Tui, Benji or even Gamble could do the job as good or better than Brooks, I am so tired of the excuses for this bloke, plus now he looks like he has dodgy hammies.

Im not making excuses for him, but none of the options you named are halfbacks. Maybe Gamble is, but he's unproven. You don't replace him if there aren't better options, and none of those are.
