In the off chance that Moylan did come to the Tigers, does anyone see Brooks making a transition to hooker. Many Half backs have done it in the past.

Guys like Toovey & Johns made the transition to hooker successfully at the highest levels, because they had sound defensive skills to start with.

I don't like the idea of Brooks defending at hooker, and being forced to make 40 + tackles per game around the middle of the field.

I personally like the idea of Reynolds playing at Hooker though, if we had to make way for someone like Moylan in the halves. It suits his game perfectly.

100% with you here Abe - Reynolds has all the attributes for a good DH - he passes well, can kick, is tough and determined, will have a run, will defend strongly - perhaps the only issue might be his regular brain snaps when he is operating at the coalface in the middle.

Agree with the Reynolds idea if FORCED to manufacture a hooker.

We got two young hookers in Matt M and Liddle.

For the record and Back on the Topic.

I would like Moylan here (at the Right $$$)

One question I would ask at this time - if we signed Moylan next year and he injured his hamstring, would we all be cool if he was negligent in his recovery and started arguing with the coach? Because that's reported to be the underpinning of the current Moylan-Panthers crisis.

Maybe a change of scenery would do him a world of good, maybe Ivan Cleary is a better match for Moylan's personality. Happens all the time.

Personally I'd say there's a fair risk given his off-field issues in 2017, but I also can't say that Moylan isn't a talented footballer. I actually don't like him as a personality at all, but maybe he can change that with his future actions. I used to really dislike Thurston and Josh Reynolds as well, until they grew up and stopped being DHs.

It's a fair question.
I'd be happy to trust Cleary on it, given that he knows him very well, both on and off the field. Moylan probably played his best football under Cleary as well. Could be a very good fit for both parties.

And you are missing the point, it is insanity to do the same thing over and over again and hope for a different result, no wonder you loved JT

Because we have no else. None of your other options are halfbacks. We're stuck with him for 2 more years. Like it or lump it.

There's a guy wearing 7 for the Broncos on Friday night in a semi final who is signed with us for next year .

People rolled their eyes when he signed for the Broncos but there he is & we haven't played a semi final since he left either .

Just sayin' …

Exactly, better league minds than GNR like Sheens, McGregor and Bennett think Benji can cut it as a 7, in fact like you say Bennett the supposed guru is trotting Benji out in a qualifying final tomorrow night as starting halfback.
We at least have to try different options at 7, because Brooks after 4 years and 82 games is still not cutting it, look at how Eiso, Twal, Suli and the like excelled this year because they were given a go.
As for Moylan, 1 or 7 for us next year would be a great result, onwards and upwards from now on, no more wheel spinning and sliding backwards with poor players playing every week.

I am prepared to give him (Brooks) another year in that position. Like what others have mentioned. Give him a good bunch of forwards who can dominate then you will see the change in him for the better. I will judge him then in 2018 once he has played half a dozen games with the forward pack that we have.

I agree, see how he goes next year. Ivan has stated that he feels Brooks slowly but continually improving along with the team. I don't think you can compare Brooks with the new young forwards, it's an entirely different role.

I guess we'll see where Benji is at with his #7 role this weekend…

Just wondering if Ivan is holding off re-signing JMK in case we don't need a third hooker next year??

Gone are the days where our marquee signing for the next season were the likes of Anasta and Keith Lulia. Even if Moylan or Rona don't hop on the bus, the fact we now get linked to these calibre of players shows a vast improvement for the Tigers. Cleary sure has turned this club around

Is Cleary solely responsible for that? It has nothing to do with the fact those were the only players we could afford in previous years? Now that we are out of the woods cap wise, we are actually signing quality players. Don't think that is a coincidence.

lol. Sorry, the board and Cleary have turned this club around. Former administration would've bent their backs for the Big 4 and dug us a deeper hole. I'm praising our club for something, I guess my comment was a bit too optimistic for you, was it? If so, extremely sorry.

Only just got on here for awhile. I have one question about Moylan. How the hell could Cronulla afford him under there cap? Jeez talk about rorting. There paying 800k for dugan to play centre.. Ridiculous.

Because Maloney is off contract, or something along those lines.

Maloney wants a $1M from his next contract or he's not going anywhere . Anything less than that figure is just an accessory .

If rumours are to be believed than

1\. Maloney wants more money. Sharks won't pay it. Will only give Maloney a release to earn more if they get a suitable replacement. Wouldn't offer more to Maloney but willing to release him if they could get Cronk who would cost double so guessing they have cap room.

2\. Penrith are facing salary cap pressure. So if there was a swap Moylan would get his money but Maloney would probably be facing the same scenario he is in now.

If that's the case i can't really see a swap working.
