MOYLAN MAYBE RELEASED ..

Am I the only one who doesn't think Moylan is quite the superstar many are proclaiming him to be? Sure he has a touch of class about him, but there are still a lot of 'rocks' in his game as well. His goal line defence has been quite pathetic at times.

He is being talked about on here as though he's the next Thurston or Cronk but he's nowhere near it, imo. Still a lot of kinks to iron out of his game, but I suppose he has potential - there's that word again! I just find it interesting that Penrith are playing better without him.

Agreed. He could work out good, but I would rather Tui for the team we have. Also maybe Moylan is actually depressed and needs all of us to LAYOFF.

Pascoe has just released CEO's address to the members and basically said they are in no rush to fill the last two positions and are going to bide their time as there are going to be players coming on to the market . I really can't see Moylan being one of them even if he ditches Penrith

^ THIS. Pascoe has the right idea 100%. Lets not rush the last two positions. Bide our time and wait for someone who wants to play here. Particularly if we can work out where we are weak and supplement our team.

I like Tui but Moylan is in another league. He would be our best fullback and our best 5/8 and we'd be crazy not to have a big go at him (if he's available).

Moylan has too many similarities to Moses for my liking

Yep… How long til he has more 'personal issues' to deal with?
Good players but weak, questionable characters

I think Moylan just wants out and Gus is using personal issues as a smokescreen until Panthers are out of the final.

yeah it's a problem, not too sure I want those type of players back. I want to see a champion team, not a team of champions.

I agree. There is a faint whiff of Moses about this but Ivan knows him, praises him and would be happy to hire him so as bathurst' has said, Gus' smokescreen.

I realise no one player is guaranteed a spot but for team harmony I'd like to see us go with plan A. That being Lolohere at fullback, Reynolds and Brooks in halves, Liddle at hooker, maybe Benji off the bench. Put Moylan in the mix and we get discontent, player unrest and perhaps a fractured playing group. I really like the 'one in all in' attitude and a team of solid 1st graders.

Moylan Vs Reynolds

Surprisingly I like J better for us as a club based on Character and personality.

I'm struggling to come up with anything that Reynolds does better than Moylan.

Doesn't really matter as Reynolds will be here in 2018 and Moylan won't be.

Finally some common sense on this thread. We just got rid of one problem child and you want to replace him with another. Moylan is a BIG no from me.

Now that Panthers are out of the finals it will be interesting to see if anything happens with Moylan.

Tyrone May's suspected ACL injury might change the Panthers mind about releasing Moylan .

Although if the bridge has already been burnt with Griffin it might not matter . Panthers could play Cartwright at 6 like they did with success in 2016 .

Back to Fantasy League Trade Rage again… :unamused:

I'm glad Cleary is in charge...

Why is that fantasy, I don't get your condescending replies, Brooks is on $500k, not a huge wage, he could be shopped around.

Per year for 2 years…Haven't we learnt from paying players to play elsewhere..it seems since Taylor was punted you have taken to Brooks in every thread ..even those that don't even relate to him...

Like the Dogs are finding now...What if the player doesn't want to leave..hence the Fantasy League Trade reference..

Play him in ISP if YOU want sure...I just believe Cleary sees things differently in regards to Brooks...

If he were to bring Moylan here which I sure hope he does it would be with a view to playing Fullback...

I too think Moylan should be fullback, but we have Tui, who could stay in halves

It would be great to sign a quality player the calibre of Moylan in the prime of his career, instead of at the end of his career. I will be stunned if it happens, but having coach Cleary certainly gives us some hope.

Moylan is certainly a high quality rep player but when you have already assembled the majority of your squad, I think you should only buy someone that fits in with your 2018 plan, not someone who replaces a player you've already spent good money on.

Reynolds would be close to our highest paid player now so it's silly buying another five eight - he's not a fulltime hooker as some suggest.

Tui is the current tip as fullback so if Moylan plays fullback Tui will be the utility - so why did we buy Benji? Don't tell me to replace Brooks, that's just dumb in anyone's language.

The two last spots should be for areas we are weakest at, not got covered already. A good, fast backline goal kicker would be nice but there's not many of them - period

With Moylan in the team we look like a top 8 side.

Doesn't seem like you read what he was saying. Unfortunately for the brigade who want him here, we've already spent money and roster spots on the spine, including depth. Moylan might seem great because he appears to better than what we have, but he doesn't fill a position we need. If he was a back rower, we'd be in business, but we don't need a 5//8 or fullback. We have sufficient depth already.

Sweet, so by your logic if JT, Cronk, Slater, Munster and Morgan all became available we should not approach them because we've already signed some players? Manly has a spine that is eons better than ours and they're still looking to try and sign him.

Your way of thinking is a good strategy if you never want to play finals football.

That's because if Manly sign him, they will move Blake Green on. Who will we move on?
