No New Signings until 2017 - Jason Taylor Statement

@Newtown said:
What Taylor has done is very similar to what Abbott has did after he became prime minister. He could see that there existed a big budget blowout and to correct this problem needed to take measures. which were not popular with a lot of people. Still if his measures succeed Australia will be better positioned in future from an economic point of view. The same could be said about Wests Tigers.

I hope that Jason does not wish to create an air of fear to control the playing group, nor add more dollars to the coffers of the Farah's and Lawrence's of the club so that the can run their brown coal fired barbeques at the expense of the Santi's and Fine's children.

Surely he won't also want to charge the less well off lower grade players a fee for the first dozen or so times they have to visit the club doctor or physio.

Does this mean that he will double the fees for anyone who wants to study the game plans each week and pay all the rich stars wives to stay at home while everyone plays?
And I suppose he intends to go up into the grandstands each week and give money to everyone who is smoking

As long as Taylor does not take a conservative approach, we and our young players will be set for a bright future,

Completely agree and it makes sense. If JT can do as good a job as Tony then we will be top 4 next year

If JT does "as good a job as Tony" then we'll probably end up killed off like the ABC!

No, we'll be outsourced to a small island in the southwest Pacific.

Means when rich kids want to study the game then as they make millions they can pay back a few bucks to the game that supported them instead of charging poor supporters, means that all the wives or husbands can take a reasonable time off to support thier kids but also means that women can continue their careers after taking time off to have the footballers of tomorrow, it means that everyday supporters of the game have the freedom to choose what they do with their money and time

I guess we have little choice but to wait and see how 2015 works out. Although we seem to have a good roster, it is a little short of experience.
I cannot believe that the players we have released (Marshall, Blair and others) has not given us a stack of room to move with the salary cap. If not I think our salary cap administration needs a Royal commission. We have a few club supporters with some experience with ICAC so they could be useful.
Good luck JT. We all want to see you and the club do well … we hope you're right.

What the 😱pen_mouth: , why did you have to go there Newtown  .

I tell you what Abbott has done ? he has lied he's way to prosperity as he would say.
The lies
No new Taxes
When Julia Gillard implemented a levy to help out the people of Queensland after a natural disaster, Abbott called it a tax. In fact Abbott referred to virtually any rise in the cost of living as some sort of tax from Julia Gillard.
However when Abbott introduces what he would formerly call a tax, he calls it a 'Temporary budget repair levy'. But no matter what Abbott and Hockey desire to call it, most of us call it a broken promise.
I also note that this – the only part of the budget that has the rich 'sharing the pain' – has the word 'Temporary' in its title. Noticeably, there are no 'temporary cuts to welfare, the pension, education or health — only the new tax for those on a stratospheric $180,000 a year.
On top of the 'Temporary budget repair levy', we have a hike in the fuel excise. That is a tax rise no matter how you look at it.
Also we will now have a surcharge to go to the doctor, because apparently the country can’t afford for everyone to have free medical care.
Anyway, this co-contribution” of Abbott's is nothing more than a sick tax.

Newtown what Abbott has done is lied , far from what Jason Taylor is doing , JT is trying to be as honest and transparent as possible , JT is doing a clean up but his not lying how Abbott is . Our PM can't even put 2 sentences together without over thinking what he needs to say.

FT,settle mate,it's about new signings and I agree with what you say regarding JTs honesty and approach….
Let's not open a can of worms on the political debate, leave it for the politically aware that are running the country...this is our fan forum where we discuss our great club....not Parliament House...

Please forget I ever mentioned Abbott and let's get back to football. I should have kept my point to a simple family budget situation such as if you spend too much you have to rein in your future spending for the time required to have the budget balanced again. That's all. This forum is primarily to discuss football and have some fun doing so. The last place I would ever want to visit is the dirty politics jungle.

That's not a bad side, but JT is right....we need a centre and a second rower...

Can anyone explain the obsession some people have with trying to turn Taupau into a back rower? He's the one bright spot heading into 2015, he's not broken, don't fix him.

I recall Taupau coming off the bench and playing on the left edge a few times. Even once targeting Cherry-Evans against Manly at Leichardt and making a line break. **It's not something that's totally out of the picture and as idiotic as your making it out to be.**

Taupau is too good to be a bench player his whole career and has the mobility and speed to cut it as an edge second rower or playing in the middle at lock. That way he can fix our back row crisis whilst finding a way to maximise his time on the field. Kill to birds with one stone.

Why do you think the idea is so extraordinary ?

_Posted using RoarFEED 4.1.4_

I think it is. His biggest asset is being able to come in to the game when the sting is out of it and run amok. Why screw with something that works? And he isn't a bench player cos he isn't good enough to be in the starting side, he's a bench player cos it makes sense with how he runs the ball, its strategic.

GNR,I agree with your way of thinking regards Tapau on the bench, however I would love to see him play one or two games out wide,I think he would do damage and create some gaps,he has some speed and go forward and that's what we need….just my opinion and thoughts.....

 , I'm settled mate .my points were more in regards with Abbotts lies and that JT is far from a liar and just pointed some things out that backs what i am saying . No argument intended from my part was surprised Newtown compared it to Abbott as Newtown wouldn't normally do that (he sticks to the Topic) .
Newtown is one of my favourite posters on here .
True Tiger , I agree i got sucked into the topic and usually hate talking about 2 things Politics and Religion cause they never end well.
Newtown is a Legend

Since the interview the other night, I don't think I have seen a post in the FPN & SKD thread. It must have reduced the reference to it on this forum by 90%.

If that's not sufficient to define why the comment was made then I don't know what is.

No problems mate. My mistake for including a hint of politics. It's causing way too much trouble throughout the world today.

Newtown and FT,glad you have both moved on,I appreciate both of your input to the forum and a political bashing can only cause grief…
I know you are both better than that and when you are both on topic,it makes a good read.....cheers...

Rich wives already can continue their careers if they are earning the top amounts that Tonys upper class welfare allows them.
If more people paid to raise their own kids, Then there would be plenty of money to pay for the things a coach should be supplying. Like educating the props, giving them new roads to drive their range rovers on. As well as better hospitals and medical care to fix up the players battered bodies
