No New Signings until 2017 - Jason Taylor Statement

JT should have kept his mouth shut imo.
This is a massively bad look for the club.

We have no money to sign any one….
Yet we need to make some signings.

.... future does not look bright.

This is very similar to what happened at Penrith a few years ago when Cleary and Gould came along (Moss also). Previous admin buckled the club with backloaded contracts in guys like Lewis, Jennings, McKendry, Gordon, Grant and Coote. All but one remain. A few years went on and they relied on juniors to fill the void, then heavily recruited in positions they needed with experience and a few journeymen (almost a "moneyball" approach). Players like Manu, Taylor, Idris, Whare, Segeyaro, Wallace, Soward, Kite. They filled the squad with blokes who had something to prove over a few years.

With the added experience of the above names some of their great rookies began to shine. Moylan, Mansour, Docker, Watene-Zalezniak, Cartwright.

Signed great rookies like Peachey.

Blokes like Lewis Brown, Nigel Plum, Jeremy Latimore are all playing great footy.

I think this has Moss written all over it. He has probably looked at our books. Gone…good god, how do we fix this? And come up with a plan.

Us as fans may have to crawl before we can walk, thank previous clowns in the club for the mess they've left us and put complete faith in our new structured coaching department. It may be a journey as I'm sure Penrith fans would know, but look at them now, they'll get a premiership soon. We just have to be patient and trust the blokes running from the top down know what they're doing. As disappointing as it is to lose players like Blair, Thompson and Austin we just have to cop it on the chin. That's the salary cap unfortunately and we don't have as many paper bags as the Roosters.

Do we actually have enough players, forget the quality? Stacks gone a couple of NSW Cup standard players signed
We'll probably be running walk up trials , like clubs used to do in the 70's
Please explain Meyer

I really feel for the kids who have been brainwashed into following the club by us parents . My 10 year old has been a diehard supporter for about 4 years now and even he's over it !
He now wants out & wants to follow the Panthers with a few of his mates !
Do I let him jump ship or do I tell him to hang in there ??

Grounded and sent to their room for even considering that haha

Conspiracy theory!! Is this a carefully orchestrated NRL plot to replace the Tigers with Perth or Central Coast ?

Its only brainwashing if you tell them who to go for. Most kids just cheer for who their parents cheer for, it rubs off on them. Thats not brainwashing.

He is saying to his young players "I believe in you".

He is saying step up and you will get the best shot ever given to young players.

Big balls play. Well, I for one wanted courage. I want to earn our way out. It's the only way. I'm now not going to complain now that I have got it.

Seriously, Blair was no better than any of our remaining second row options, neither was Bodene. Have we really lost that much? Fults is the loss that still hurts.

JT and Moss are two of the best minds in the NRL. They have a plan.

So if Blair got a season ending injury would we have all cried Chicken Little tears?

So Blake Ferguson can only play at the Roosters if they can unload players. If they can't then only us and Parra have cap space. With Whatmouth going to Parra I'm not sure what they have left…

I cheer for the tigers but I've had to do extra ' brainwashing' on the young fella !
Since he was born my brother would bombard him with parramatta gear at every opportunity and no way was I having that !!

So if it gets as bad as it has in the past injury wise what sides are we going to put on the paddock ??

So last season in one game we were missing our entire back line , Keefy , Gavet , Fulton , Sirro and Sue from the Round 1 side

Give me a starting line up that could be even a match for Parra or Cronulla

I think we are the most patient lot of supporters in the comp. We have had some pretty good sides since 05 and been let down badly by not just winning a premiership but not even making the semis. It's not like we are a Cronulla where most years are RS to start with.

Most years I am thinking that we have a team to make the 8\. If all these stories about the cap and no new players are correct, then my expectations are now zero.

Sad really

I'd say that souths supporters have had to be more patient than us !
Imagine if Wests Tigers got kicked out of the comp !
We seriously need a Russell Crowe of our own .

I'm off to Bunnings to get some rope, anyone want anything while i'm there?

A dozen or so fans pls. GNR. As some on here tend to get really hot under the collar and need cooling off.

Speaking about Cronulla, how is it that a club can't even find a sponsor year in and year out but always seem to be able to snare a Carney, Lewis, Fafita, Gordon, Wade, et al. Now they have Barba, Ennis and there is talk of offering DCE over a $mil per year.

I just don't get it.

I think if the Tigers have a REALLY bad 2015 they will have to buy some players. Still its a good message for the young guys and also a message for experienced players to NOT expect big money to come here ! Smart messaging !

4 pages for a quote one poster said they heard on a radio station with ratings that SBS Radio would be embarrassed with? I'm not saying he didn't say what was suggested in the OP but I'd rather hear something more concrete. JT's official statement the other day certainly wasn't along those lines.

Also can I suggest the thread title is a bit inaccurate - a statement I expect to see on a website - this is an answer to a radio interview which may or not have been heard correctly

It feeds into it.
