What do you suggest, we meet at Concord and contiue the discussion, invite Timmy over for his opinion?
FFS!

Why did he take his eyes off the ball?

After 50 odd games at fullback he hasn't improved there. He is the 16th best 1\. In the game. Give him a year at 7\. But he refuses to put his body on the line on kick returns.

in the off season, at training each day spend 10 minutes putting up bombs by Braith for Tim to catch.
have a couple of big forwards run at him, so he can practise catching the ball, and running hard and straight.
if he takes his eyes off the ball, then then fowards knock him over.

keep repeating this unitl he catches the ball and runs back hard at pace.

may have to be cruel to be kind.

Why did he take his eyes off the ball?

Why continue to ask questions that can't be answered properly except by him?
If it's eating you up and you really want to know then my suggestion is you ask him personally.
Perhaps you could go to Concord , ask for the pimply kid , and pop the question.

It's not his fault - he did his knee three years ago, and he trained at half-back instead of fullback in the off season.

Its a fact….he chose self preservation (and got rightly smashed for going in half hearted)....chose that ahead of taking one for the team.

How can any of his team mates look at him and think, "He's got my back"....after the non 100% efforts he continues to produce.

He's a pimply kid, hardly think anyone other than a 12yo schoolgirl might crap emselves

Big talk from behind a keyboard ,ink.
Hate to see what happens when the wonderkid Tedesco eventually drops a bomb or misses a tackle ….watch the forum turn on him overnight.

I'll be so angry at Tedesco when he makes 140 metres a game, a couple of line breaks offers support in the middle of the ruck and create second phase and puts it all on the line that I will hug him with open arms and say "FINALLY , we have a real fullback " and I might even develop a man crush on him

Its not eating me up…..its a discussion about a team member, its what the forums for.

Thats rich coming from you, who first suggested it....thus:

.....most of his detractors on here who would crap themselves if they had to say it to his face.

We ALL saw it.
Theres no denying it.
The majority seem to have spoken.
May as well just agree to disagree.

I'll agree he's had a poor season and he's not on his lonesome there.
As for the thread title and the 'majority' who spoke… line 'em up to run out every week to get hammered and see how many would flinch before Moltzen.
I'd hazard a guess and say all of them.
Just my opinion.

Yeh, I agree with you….I guess NRL fans, students, doctors, carpenters, accountants, solicitors, plumbers labourers and garbos would have much trouble trying to do what a NRL player does.

NRL players like Tim however shouldnt have any such problems.

Seriously.....the "You try do a better job" "You tell him to his face'' arguments are scraping the bottom of the barrel

If youre in the public eye, you must expect criticism....you need to learn this

Spot on Ink, these players are the best of the best and people pay good hard earned money to see the best. Even on the weekend when balls were being kicked along the ground he fumbled a few with no one within cooee of him. I appreciate the fact he is not big but look at Matty Bowen, Slater etc they attack the ball, take the line on, give confidence to the team and supporters alike. Until Moltzen does this, he will continue to be criticsed rightly or wrongly becuase he is playing in the best competetion and open to scrutiny.

If he does not like, well start a modelling career or something.

He just won't put his body on the line. Crap under the high ball. Poor kick returns. I'm not sure what he offers.

C'mon… thats why we signed him for 3 yrs..all those redeeming qualities

Interesting debate so I am interested in how everyone rates Moltzen v Mullaney now that Mullaney has had a few games under his belt?

No mention of the try saving tackle he made on Widdop in the first few mins

One on one I reckon Moltzen is quite a good defender, he just offers zero in kick returns, and is ordinary under the ball.

Things a footballer are supposed to do often get overlooked when they regulalrly shirk their responsibilitys.
Players make try saving tackles every week, right down to the u/8's….its a fundamental part of the game.
What next?
Applauding him for tying his bootlaces correctly?

Spot on, its a childish mentality. It would be like taking your car to a mechanic, the machanics don't fix the problem, you call to complain and their response is ''i'd like to see you do a better job''.

Lol Mullaney in a canter. I will never understand how he didn't get a single shot after his stellar twenties career. He should have been a walk up starter at fullback in Round 1 the year after the Tigers made the NYC Grand Final.

Moltzen averaged under 85 metres in attack per game this season. Very poor for a starting fullback. Mullaney, in a side which is at the bottom of the comp has averaged well over 100 metres in attack per game. Defensively he might not be any better than Moltzen, but when it comes to support play and taking the line on, he's miles in front.

Yep agree …does everything that you want as a young fullback... Courage under fire.. Takes the ball up hard every time even though he gets smashed... Follows the play looking to get an offload and has the speed and nouse to create break..not as good as Barber, Bowen or Slater but showing the potential...compare that to Moltzen..courage under fire? Takes the ball up hard? lol
