beginning to think Talau doesn't have it. was a believer in the fact that he was playing out of position on the wing, but today he looked lethargic from minute 1. I don't know if there's a permanent fix out there that can remedy his issues.

The fix will be roberts to centre, ken to the wing and talau left right out.

Talau needs to spend time in reggies until he finds and applies the meaning of commitment

I felt yesterday's game was an important test for the team to gauge their ability and also for Madge to review where we realistically are. The most disappointing thing about it was that while the officiating never gave us a hope in hell, it highlighted we still don't have a team good enough to rise to the challenge against the likes of Eels.
I've included one of Soward's tweets, not to specifically stir up any trouble but because there's some truth to it.
I don't think it's totally fair in assessment given we're a team rebuilding with many vulnerabilities (and we're not the only one), and the new rules have further widened the gap between top and bottom teams - then factoring in the injury tolls also (think someone shared a couple weeks back that clubs like Manly have had up to 12, while Panthers and Eels have less than 2). The whole quality of the game has gone to crap IMO.

So just wanted to get some feedback on where do we go from here?

Good point but realistically there are only 2 real contenders in this comp, which is a fundamental problem.

I think we have gone a long way to improving and trying to open a premiership window like Penrith has, but who knows is that’s I’ll pay off

Gildart is a centre that has played for England. No one in our backline has played for Australia or SOO (maybe jtj). Considering the lack of quality centres on the market he is a good buy. And i believe Hastings will play 5/8 , not as a small lock as some on here have posted. We desperatley need a punishing forward leader, and 2 quick backs to be a top 8 chance next year.

We have the third biggest pack in the comp, with Seyfarth , a young kid the only one with aggression and an offload.

Tamou, TT, and Walters are not first grade standard.

Our coach is soft, there appears to be no penalty for poor performances. The lack of grunt in defence, and attack is obvious,. It's time for Madge to lay down the law, -- play hard or play elswhere !
Schoolboy sides play with more determination then the Tigers. Take out Seyfarth and Brooks and you take out the only two players with a sting in the tackles.

Unfortunately as we all know, the club can only trade a player once their current contract expires or they can be traded our swapped? So it is not easy to “play hard or play elsewhere” threat mid season? Though maybe some are playing injured, who knows?
But I understand your point, in that, come contract time, the crap performances are remembered. Bit like BJ & Packer hopefully?

Not sure what you mean, it is hard to get rid of players (under contract) if they are not performing. Do you think we are the only team that has this problem?

Papalii should have been sent off. Not 10 in the bin. Moses should have been sent for 10 too when he flopped all over the first tackle like a giant spider. Refereed out of the game

I go back to the title of the thread; "not a true reflection". And, I agree 100%. It was (massively) disappointing but not all of that can be attributed to the guys who represented WT yesterday. I've seen worse, and more inexplicable performances, than that yesterday at BankWest.

We weren't helped, in any way, shape or form, by the arbitrary and unaccountable decisions of the ref or the bunker. It was disgraceful, yet again. Well done, PVL the Great Destroyer of rugby league.

One saving grace though, is that the fragile and glory-seeking Eels, will take infinitely more from the win than they should. In reality though, it was just another step to them securing a spot amongst the pretenders to greatness that will make up the majority of teams in the play-offs. Another straight sets exit looms large for them come finals.

And, yes, I'll be rejoicing when it happens.

As will we all.
One thing I will say is how the injuries really exposed our depth. But I'm not really sure how you fix that on the bench. Maybe having talau on the bench?

I mean if Madge couldn't coach them, he should not have re-signed them, and if he thought he couldn't coach them, he shouldn't have signed them, as he has done with all but 2 of the squad

Canterbury flogged saints today, Canterbury who have won only one game all year, that is a true reflection of where we are

I think a coach can coach anyone who wants to be coached to be better.

I would prefer to see Roberts at his best.

I’ll be shouted down here, but we lack creativity and speed in the halves/spine - and that includes Laurie.

Laurie has been safe as houses at the back and is growing defensively. But I’m just not yet convinced that he has the speed, play making and support play to be a long term top grade fullback. I certainly hope I’m wrong, but if I’m Madge, I’m going hard in the market for an elite fullback ASAP (I know not a huge amount available right now).

Heard a rumour that Gutherson is coming to the Tigers.

Apparently from Pascoes mouth...

I have no connections with the club and I don't pretend that this rumour has any truth to it.

Personally, I think it would seem unlikely, but maybe one of the lads who is closer to the club can add any comments.

How so?

This team scraped a win against the Panthers reserves side, and then they got showed up by a an actual NRL side.

They didn't scrape a win against Penrith. We dominated that game.

You and I have different memories of the first 70 minutes of that game.

Yeah we do, Tigers were the better team all game.

With 15 minutes to go the score was 12-6

Against a panthers team that was missing their entire spine.

I think you are incorrect - I distinctly remember them having their entire spine on the field for the whole eighty minutes. In fact they had 17 players, the same as we did.

Second correction - the spine includes Full Back - Dylan Edwards played in that game.

Also based on everything we've seen since Magic Round, Sivo should have been sent off.

It's as bad a high shot as I've seen during that period; even if you consider the silly Coby Hetherington one as not a good baseline for comparison, all the other ones were players were marched were as bad as the Sivo one - very high facial contact, stiff arm, blood drawn from player's face, player removed for and fails HIA.

Now I'm fine if NRL decides the Sivo contact is sin-bin and not send-off, but that's not how they've been reffing it the past month.
