NRL ROUND 14 "spoilers"

Next week JWH, Tupou, Crichton and Brett Morris are all scheduled to return from injury. I wouldn’t be getting too excited

Well there will be no Keary, Aubusson and probably Lam also, but even if they only have JWH back it will be enough for them to beat us comfortably. Guy always has a blinder against us and somehow manages to dominate our pack practically on his own!

One of the best plays of the game was Hughes kicking the ball on the 2nd tackle a few metres in his own half to pin Tedesco near his goal line. The chase was great. We used to do that and Brooks would kick and use his pace in the chase. It would be nice to bring that play out again,

If Packer plays should be a good battle JWH seems to be a bit precious in his senior years ala (Hetherington)

Bellamy reckons the rule changes have lead to more injuries from the players. I thought it might’ve been the covid break but they’ve been playing for months now

They’re saying ruptured spleen for Keary

That’s not a good injury at all

I remember many years ago Greg Hartley was playing half for Newtown against Wests he suffered the same injury never played again in saying that medicine has come along way but not good

Hartley was a ref

Thats why he became a Ref he was a Canterbury Jnr played a handful of games for Newtown

God imagine if the injury didn’t happen and he became a first grade player! How annoying would he have been?

He was a very chirpy and cocky halfback

Yeah the guy from 'honey I shrunk the kids' shrunk it

Mattersons back this round

it is a big shame he will have to sit out in the finals when Packers puts another shot on him when we verse them next.....

ill be most disappointed if we dont get our yearly "win this game and your in the finals" for the last game of the round

It’ll be a miracle if we get that close

If WT'S win their next four and the Rorters loose their next 4 we be equal on 18 points its not over til its over

I’m not confident...my negativity is well ingrained..
I still get flashbacks of walking past the sharks fans on the hill at Leichhardt from last year

Every now and then I get triggered by remembering that game.... stuff nightmares are made of.

Papenhuysen is a remarkable footballer. Just an outstanding talent.

Yep I’m tipping he will surpass Tedesco as the best fullback in the game in time. We actually had 2 once in a generation players...who would’ve thought!

How bad is that.. Some pretty poor retention there, that’s an understatement.

To be fair though Pap looked pretty ordinary in his lower grade games for Balmain Ryde Eastwood or whoever it was. Hindsight is 20/20, he most certainly didn't look anything too special back then.

Very true, you're right, we didn't really notice him - he was small and probably looked more of a fringe player with possible potential. I feel similar about Tedesco - sure he's good, and would always have been good, but we can't be sure he would've excelled here. Being at the Roosters I think has improved his game.

This is very incorrect.
Paps was a stand out in all his junior games.
Came into the 20’s younger then most after sg ball season and was played on the wing.
Unfortunately he remained on the wing for quite a while bet before that point everyone ‘those who regularly watch the juniors’ was expecting big things for Paps when he grew into his body a bit more.

Now I will say this.
Had 2017 played out differently and Teddy signs with the Roosters after we sign Paps as his successor or whatever order.
There is no way I would be confident that he would of looked anywhere near the player his is at the moment having been thrown into our side start of 2018. With Teddy no longer at the club he had no one to mentor him. And please don’t say Hodgo, like really what does he do for our players.
Paps entered Melbourne at a time there was a number of young fullbacks auditioning for the future role knowing full well he would be trains and mentored by the best of the best.

Great career move for him, and I dare say he would of killed his early staying with us.

End of story.

Well I can't recall many on here bemoaning the fact we let Pap go at the time it happened, he must not have been too great. Remember people talking up his pace and not much else.

I remember a lot of people saying he should be the next one to be signed on a Suli like contract. But different circles I guess.

I compare young Rizk to Papenhuyzen.

Haven’t watched enough of him? Any background in fullback?

Yeah he’s played fullback, centre and wing. Very evasive and quick, feels like he gets quicker the more he runs. Although has a very similar style of running to Papenhuyzen. He’s now playing on the wing in jersey Flagg.

A bit shorter and lot more stocky last I saw.
I didn’t think Jersey flegg was running at the moment.

Don’t think he is shorter than Papenhuyzen but yes he is stockier. You’re right it isn’t I meant when it was on, apologies.
