NRL Trial vs Panthers

Wow, from what I've read it seems Austin went fantastically! Also great my main man Lawrence got a try and it sounded like tedesco went really well too.
Apart from halataus injury it all sounds very positive going forward.

Anyone who was there, who were the standouts in your view? And which forwards?

Taupau and gavet really looked good in the forwards… Great ball movement, and hard running!

78' — Penrith spill the ball inside their 10\. Last chance for points here as we press on the attack 10 metres out from the line.

Great call Phantom …. Job well done

Now that is what I really wanted to hear as I have high hopes for both of them this year.

Looks like Halatau has broken his ankle. Not good news for him in first match back. Hopefully see him mid season.

Just got home from the game.

Was a really good atmosphere - pretty casual, and laid back.

Austin was great all game - always threatened, and made some great tackles in defense.

Anasta was EXCEPTIONAL…..

....for the first 10 minutes. Then he fell back into a secondary role, and eventually was subbed off. He' looks a heck of a lot leaner than years gone by, and looks like a legit 5/8 as opposed to a ball playing backrower - looks fitter.

Blair looks fit and strong, and played that way - made one bad knock on infront of the posts, but was solid.

Halatau looked great until his injury.

LAWRENCE was threatening and strong, and played inside Richards - wow, that looked like a brilliant combination.

Teddy was excellent at the back, and chimed in the backline for the first two tigers tries, they looked brilliant, and the 3rd try was a slick backline play from a scrum with Nofo finishing- took me back to the times marshall, moltzen, Lawrence and Tuqiri used to cause havoc from scrums.

Tigers really took the pedal off the last 20, not because of slacking off, but the younger players were all getting a run - at fulltime, there was bugger all established players on the pitch. Panthers played there bigger names to the end, bear in mind the Panthers played without Simmons, Whare, Kite, Soward, Wallace, Idris, Docker and Plum.

Overall they looked sharp. Really sharp. Austin, Lawrence, Tedesco, Taupau, Gavet, and Blair all standouts.

No shit sherlock, they were playing a NSW cup side, what would you expect?

"He's broken his ankle and he's torn ligaments in his ankle…at least a four month injury." Potter on Halatau injury

Its a RMC side, the standard is dramatically lower, even in comparison to NSW cup. Of course they're going to miss simple tackles against a side who is of a much higher standard. RMC is a glorified pub comp for gods sake

I know it's a RMC side but still gotta be able to use your shoulders that's kids stuff

Would you be able to use your shoulder if Greg Inglis came charging at you?

I would have a go he would probably run over the top of me but I still at least try

I would give it my best crack even though he would go straight over the top of me . Would you

what was paterson like?

Paterson was solid, and scored a sneaky try. Didn't expect him to come down with the ball in a million years, and whooshka, try.

Good in defense, and solid in attack. Didn't get massive minutes though.

Based on tonight's game I'd have Austin ahead of Anasta to partner brooks. He's very busy, threatens the line putting defence in 2 minds, had a strong kicking game & didn't disappoint in defence. Anasta had a strong kicking game also but I think Austin outplayed him.

Woodsy was quiet I thought, maybe he didn't play too many mins. Taupau was very impressive, as was gavet after his first spell. Siro looked dangerous a few times, he's definitely put on some size. Thompson was fairly quiet tho.

Loved Nofo's try-saver. He never stopped chasing & showed real hunger!

Plenty of positive signs tonight but we still need to work on our discipline. Also good to know that Robbie, sauce, Fults, brooks & Simona are due to return.

I'd be keen to know how big Ava, bmm & mr T went in Alice.

With robbie fults and Keithy to comeback into the pack and after seeing the boys go around tonight what are people's opinions on the spots in our pack for round 1 ?
I think we have some good depth and competition for spots
