Official - Josh Reynolds Signs Megathread

Well it appears that our club is finally signing good, experienced NRL players with some go about them…well done to all concerned...Reynolds gets the nod from me because he will be invaluable in regards to Brooks development...

On a side note,it also appears that some of my forum brothers are displeased with Reynolds coming to our club,so much so that the mini bus that Happy acquired has been upgraded to fit more passengers in..

so far Happy is driving and his list of people are ..Tiger Tim,Tyger and Spartan...I wonder how many more will get off Ivans bus and onto our mate Happys.. :unamused:

Happy can pick me up if he's going past. I wonder where Ivan is going to find a spare brain for the transplant that Reynolds obviously needs.

Gotta say I have mixed feelings about the Reynolds signing. Admittedly there weren't many options out there but my reservations include;
1\. His track record as a serial grub and penchant for cheap penalties
2\. The money - 750k a year?
3\. His age - 28 and going on 32 when the contract ends. Surely his skills will be declining at 30…..
There are positives such as his defense, competitive spirit and never say die attitude but I'm not sure that they outweigh the negatives above. I'd much rather have Martin for these contrasting reasons;
1\. He plays with composure and a steady head.
2\. He would cost considerably less.
3\. He is young and has a long and bright future ahead of him.
Where TMM has the edge is that he is an elite talent whereas Reynolds is a try hard in the twilight of his career. I hope we can have both.

Another lie told by Kent was that the club apparently told Moses they were taking his offer off the table to upgrade the offers to Woods and Tedesco

Is that close to what the club said? That with a lower than expected cap they were focusing on Woods and Teddy. Sure they didnt mention upgrade, if that is the part of Kent's comment you have a problem with.

Did he say that. Benny said we didn't want him. I also think 4 years is too long a timeframe. That is my only concern. I'd like to see TMM here as well.

Reynolds doesn't have a lot of skill to begin with, so he won't lose much. He's an effort player who plays his guts out. He's not only a great signing for that reason, but he will instil it into his teammates too. We're going to be a team next year who plays with a lot of heart. Something we haven't done for years.

He made a fool of him self saying "Tigers said they didn't have the money to pay Moses 900k, then sign Reynolds for the same amount"

First off - 900k is way off for both so it's not even with discussion that part, but secondly I'll just entertain Kent for a second and say he's right about the figures…. the reason Tigers could now offer Reynolds 900k is because Tedesco and woods have signed elsewhere. He's a frickin moron.

Watching NRL 360 tonight and it must be hard for them to say the tigers have done well… NO just point out negatives etc...
When they said we should of signed Cronk or Foran I was thinking have they lost it..
Foran is already going to the dogs (Des is like a father to him) and if we wait until after SOO all the other good players would be gone and we are up s*** creek with no paddle if Cronk retires.

I was expecting them to say well done to the tigers on moving forward in a positive direction BUT NO..

Look at the Warriors, Knights, and Panthers - These are the clubs that they should be talking about not us now.

Well done Clearly and Co.

Was Woods on there tonight?

Nope

Too busy counting his money…or he couldn't find his hair band

That time I went off my brain when Reynolds dropped the knees into Farah. Welcome to the club Josh, you're our grub now.

If he can knee Moylan or Wighton next season, I'd be mightily grateful. Hate those two players.

Preferably this year so he doesn't miss a game with WT.

Guys, the contract is worth 600k moving to the 700k's in the later years.

Thats an amazing buy for the club and everyone should be happy.

Our spine will be on less than 2million combined. Gives the side stability.

Why would Reynolds do that? He and Farah are like soooo close. They go on trips etc together…

Cause anything on the field stays on the field. The boys give eachother banter all the time and there's no doubt they'll be seen drinking together the next weekend. That's NRL.

IVAN Cleary’s plan to put some much-needed mongrel back into the Wests Tigers pack continued with the club signing five-eighth Josh ‘Grub’ Reynolds to a four-year, $3 million deal.

Reynolds’ whopping deal came less than 24 hours after Kiwi enforcer Ben Matulino signed a three-year deal with the club, with the Tigers to now turn their sights to St George Illawarra prop Russell Packer.

Widely regarded as a club known for being flashy rather than fierce, the Tigers are certain to change that reputation should Cleary continue to snap up the tough guys on his hit list.

The joint venture remains open to welcoming back Penrith playmaker Te Maire Martin in the coming weeks, which would allow Mitchell Moses to link with Parramatta.

Despite the recent aggressive recruitment drive — winger David Nofoaluma signed a new four-year deal, while hooker Jacob Liddle is tipped to extend his stay — The Daily Telegraph understands the Tigers could still afford fullback James Tedesco and skipper Aaron Woods if they wanted to stay.

Woods has for several years urged the club to chase a forward with some mongrel, only to see that delivered now he is heading out the door.

An emotional Reynolds broke the news to his teammates before training on Wednesday, and was spotted embracing several teammates on the side of Belmore Oval.

A proud Canterbury junior, Reynolds informed club officials of his agonising decision to quit the club on Tuesday.

Reynolds had held out for a new deal, but the money from the Tigers was nowhere near what the Bulldogs were prepared to match, especially with fellow playmaker Kieran Foran in their future plans.

The Tigers love the fact Reynolds oozes aggression and competitiveness. He has often admitted to being too caught up in the moment on the field.

Time will tell if his love for the Bulldogs can be transferred to Tiger Town.

As new Bulldogs teammate Brenko Lee said: “He’s one guy when you look at in the sheds, you know he won’t let you down, and he’s the one person you don’t want to look at if you’ve played a [Censored] game because you’ll know he’s given his all and left everything out there.

“He wears his heart on his sleeve, and there aren’t many players like that left around.’’

Tigers insiders believe Reynolds’ big-game experience will allow halfback Luke Brooks to take his own game to the next level.

There were some concerns Moses often dominated the calls on the field, which had stunted Brooks’ development.

Brooks told The Daily Telegraph some Tigers teammates had asked Reynolds about the possible move to Concord after their gritty win over the Bulldogs on Sunday.

Brooks first learned about his new halves partner while ‘’scrolling through Facebook’’ before training on Wednesday.

“Something is always popping up there about us (the Tigers), but when I saw it I was happy, and obviously with Mitch going we needed a good replacement, and he’s a great replacement,’’ Brooks said.

“I think he will fit into our style of play really well. He brings a lot of energy and every play he’s always on the ball. He will complement me well.

“I feel I’m old enough and experienced enough now to control a team, but it will be good having his experience, and he’s played a few Origins.”

The Tigers have won two from three since Cleary took charge in round six. They wasted no time going to market for a playmaker once Moses revealed he had agreed to join the Eels.

The Reynolds deal was thrashed out in less than a fortnight. The Tigers will be chasing another win against Cronulla at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday night.

I agree we need a little but of mongrel, energy and I dare say it, grubbery. It's a bit of a risk with the amount of $$ he has been signed for but if he finds his best then it may be worth it.

Josh has a thread…Oh look..

Come on mate, you know how people feel about those 50 page threads.

They feel they are a terrific idea, to consolidate comments and updates in one place?

If you do this right, you keep abreast of the 50-page thread, you don't leave it 2 months then read the 50-page thread from start.

Or you come in late and go to page 50, jump back 4-5 pages and catch up on the latest.

A new thread for every thought… this place would be chock-full of ghost threads, one major post and a handful of comments.

If you are a person who can't handle adding your very important comments to an existing big topic (not you specifically), you should realise most people gloss over the small threads anyway.
