All he’s doing besides riding the Tour de France and parading the sidelines in dressing gowns is holding back the youth …

This is the issue isn't it. He gets a spot based on being the captain. Someone misses out.

It's similar to when we signed Pat Richards and we left Korobiete or JAC out of the team. It's not this bad but it's not great.

Deadset Plodder who’s sucking a pension from us .
We don’t need him .. he’s just taking up a spot off one of our young boppers .

Which young bopper ....Seyfarth lol

Seyfarth was good on the weekend .

When Easter island went off and Stefano and Mikaele came on we lifted ..
You need to watch the games more closely..

The big mistake that we've made is giving him the captaincy spot. Then you start with the guy. I reckon he is lucky to make our top team and I think it's nuts to have Tamou, Twal and Joe O as our starting middle forwards. You need at least one guy that can actually dent the line himself. Stef, Mikaele or Musgrove need to start and drop Tamou or Twal.

The more I think about it Tamou doesn't deserve a starting spot.

Honestly Seyfarth, Mikaele, Stef, Joe O and Twal area all better than Tamou now. If Musgrove fixes his defense he has to get a spot. That doesn't include Amone or Tuki SImpkins or any other up and coming middle forward.

Tamou is great depth and we didn't overpay. He has also been decent for us. He isn't a bad signing. I'm just not sure he is what we need.

If Tamou was brought in for leadership he should be running around in the Knock on cup ( on minimal wage)

Our best young props are still in jersey Flegg, still a few years until they'll be ready

I wouldn't put it past Mavoni to debut next year although I suspect he'll feature quite a bit in KOE.

I wonder if he'll get a run this year in KOE, he's been killing it in Flegg by the sounds of it. Etuale Lui got picked over him but he did quite well, could see both of them pushing for firsts next year sometime.

I have no doubt he'd handle the step up. We're well served in the front row at the moment even with Packer missing. I suspect if one of the front rowers went down with injury then it may open up a spot on the bench for him.

I was nervous about him coming back on in the second half, he's been poor in his second stints this season, but he was good against the Dragons and maybe even added something to the team when he came back.

Hardened professional that has played SOO

You don't think the young blokes coming through aren't bleeding Tamou dry for help becoming a 250 game plus veteran

Yeah, he was only the captain for last year's minor premiers and Grand finalist. Couldn't possibly be of value to us

Look this bloke only plays an average of 40 mins per game. I'm very disappointed with him so far, and I don't suppose there'll be any improvement in him or the mins he plays..he may have experience but if he's not on the field he is not able to impart any of this experience or captain the team as he should:angry:

You do realise he doesn’t just impart any of his experience only on the field he does it of the field too. He gets the minutes Madge allows him! We also bought him before the new rules made the game faster. He was never here to play big minutes. We aren’t paying heaps and he’s not as bad as everyone has made him out to be.

I could have made a new topic, which I believe it does - but I will let my anger out here.

https://www.msn.com/en-au/sport/rugby-league/tigers-captain-tamou-is-cheering-penriths-streak-with-a-catch/ar-AAKFcD2?ocid=ientp

Penrith's grand final captain James Tamou has admitted he is "in awe" of his former teammates and thought he was obliged to chase a new challenge at the Tigers because he couldn't keep up with his younger teammates.

On the eve of his first game against his old club, the 32-year-old veteran even said he would love to see the Panthers go through the entire season unbeaten if Michael Maguire's side can't halt their winning streak on Friday night.

The Panthers will head into the clash without seven State of Origin stars and the suspended Moses Leota as they try to extend their winning run to 13 games this season.

And the man who led them in last year's grand final defeat is arguably their biggest supporter, claiming the Panthers were a much better side this year than the 2020 version.

Asked about the possibility of Penrith finishing the year without a loss if the Tigers can't beat them, Tamou said: "If I'm alive and around to see that happen, I'd want it to happen.

"Some of the kids there, you can't help but love them. They come from nothing and they just worked hard to get where they are. You can't help but watch them and be in awe of them.

"The way I can tell they're a better team [in 2021] is last year [Viliame] Kikau absolutely killed it. You give him the ball and he runs over everyone. He's still going well, but he's not shining as brightly. The other guys have caught up and they're all working together.

"The scary thing is not only do you have to stop Kikau, you have to stop everyone else. When I say I'm in awe of them, you can't help but watch them and go, ‘wow, this is something special'."

Tamou was offered a one-year extension to stay at the Panthers, but opted to take up a two-year deal with the Tigers before being named captain of the club prior to even pulling on their jersey.

But Tamou conceded he was even looking over his shoulder last year wondering when he would be dropped to the bench given the rapid rise of a number of youngsters.

"The coaching staff knew what they were doing," Tamou said. "It was hard [to leave], but some of those players there ... their ceiling is higher than mine.

"I've got a bit to offer with experience, but some of those kids coming through have a lot more to offer and with such a young team they gel so well together.

"I could have stayed, but these young ones were blowing me off the park at training. I definitely felt like [I had to step aside]. I was thinking about guys like Moses Leota, and last year I thought I'd be going back to the bench.

"[But] I'm happy with my decision and I'm all in emotionally here."

This guy should have never been the captain of the club, whenever Penrith gets mentioned he is in awe with them..

Give it a break for once and focus on your team..

Not only that the last paragraph has it all! Is he practically saying he can handle our players here instead of the players at Penrith?

I think your reading to much into it ....Tamou captained the side, played in the GF and knew he was on borrowed time with so much youth at IVANS DISPOSAL,that he made the desicion to leave...He can be in awe of the team as he had connections with many of the players and dare I say helped many of the youth to play at that level...What I have seen of James here with us is he is passing on knowledge and experience the same as he did for his former employer,I have seen him be quite passionate about our team and club, the youth in our squad and club speak highly of him and he is doing all that is expected of him 100 percent for us...

I would rather the players offer an honest opinion instead of hearing the same safe clichés thousands of times. FERDA.

I am reading too much into it.

I rate Tamou and I probably came across angry for some of the comments.

I guess I'm one of them supporters where if ONE bad or good thing is said I take it to the grave with me.. sometimes I wish i'm not that invested in them.

I do agree that Tamou does try every game 100%.

I actually re-read the post and I could say that it wasnt that bad.. more probably wanting him to say we're going to give it to them.
