Good to see we can benefit from another club's stupidity for a change.

We didn't benefit at all. We've paid overs to get Reynolds.

$700k is not overs in the current market, look at Hunt $1.2 million, Widdop in the $800k plus, it is on the surface high, but in reality around the money.

$750k for an origin 5/8… It sounds weird but it is probably right. Moses is on 850 and his attack is slightly better, his defense woeful. LoLohea on 600k sounds over same as Conner Watson.

I think we did well on Reynolds.

Not sure where you get some of those figures from.

Lolohea is on 400-450k - nowhere near 600k.

Woods is not coming back. He's already put it out there that he doesn't rate Ivan. He's done a lot of damage to our club.

Youre not sure on others figures but sure on Lolos deal give or take $50k

The Wayne Bennent philosophy is to never over spend on a single forward (goodbye Woods) , it's the key positions of 1, 6,7 and hooker you dig deep for..look at the storm? I'm ok for the price of renyolds, I just hope we secure Watson, I can see what Cleary's up to…it gives him depth and choice in these key positions.... the six of them are all solid first graders his only problem will be keeping them focused on the team and not their Ego..Renyolds is a team player no problem their, lolohea is the one who worries me. He probably comes off the bench and finds himself as the utility option for cleary.

I'm a lot closer than 600k for Lolohea (colmcd) - that is ridiculous.

600k was being quoted for both Watson and Lolohea on the forums. I am hoping it is untrue for both of them. 300k a season would be reasonable for Watson.

Lolohea was plucked from Warriors Reserve Grade. $600k is way too much. $450 is even generous. He is potentially quite good, but surely we've learned that potential is not good enough. Rumours I've read had Watson at about $465k as well.

Either way, I hope we get Watson and have both, better times ahead for WT. :sign:

Good on ya Woods, he still misses the point. The greatest players, or even a rung down and let's just talk about the current top players all have one thing in common. It's about the team first. What's best for the individual is a distant consideration to what is best for the team.

For players who put themselves first or what they think is good for their family, they will never reach that top level.

And of course, it is the players who do everything they can for the team, putting the team first, that are often more highly revered, valued and reap the biggest rewards as an individual (and for their family).

Look at the Bulldogs, who is their most team-focused player, with little argument it's J.Reynolds. Not the most skilled, but the most team-focused. And his departure is causing massive problems for them, arguably contributing to their derailing season. Is Woods leaving causing us that much trouble? Pfft, he has already been replaced.

I believe he's also been replaced, in fact his replacement was coming to the Dogs before Reynolds decided to come here. I don't see Des crying about him leaving, in fact the only ones complaining is some of their " supporters".
Who in the majority, are mainly feral anyway.

As for" players who put themselves first or what they think is best for their families",
Do you put your family first?
Putting your family first is not something to knock so easily. Just ask your wife.
Most players these days do exactly that. Football clubs won't be there for you in 10 or 15 years. Unless there's something they need for you,
It's to be hoped thay your family will be though.
Both Tedesco andWoods will have completed their obligations before they leave, both have played hard for the club, and if injuries allow, they will continue to do that.
That's ALL that any player owes any club.

You have to do what's right for your family of course, but you have to live up to some standards as well. I could support my family very well by ripping off hundreds of people, though sleeping at night I imagine would be a bit harder.

The footy club is meant to stand for something. (Or maybe was, maybe that's the problem, maybe it doesn't anymore and as a fan I just don't know what else to do but want the days back when it did stand for something.)

I agree TTthe team is important, but as long
as you have fulfilled your contract until it finishes , you don't owe anything more to the club. Unless you re sign.
If they do have a family , then that player does have a responsibility to do the best for himself
AND the family. The Club is not his responsibility,

The same goes if leaving is the best thing in his opinion, for his career.
Clubs will cut him, the moment he's no longer in their plans, contracted or not.
He may be right or wrong. But again, has to do what's right for him and his family.
No one else will , and it's his life and career
Clubs will ALWAYS do what's right for them. Not the player
Any player who thinks that the club or team is more important than his family is in Asking for trouble.

Is that why there are so many one club players? A real poor argument when you consider the dozens and dozens of players who juggle their family and club loyalty. It didn't affect his family one iota as captain to back the club publicly every now and then.

And Wayne Bennett has always been in the luxurious position at the Broncos where he has had an unlimited supply of brown paper bag money to sweeten his star forwards with…....200 grand on the books and another 5 or 6 hundred in top-up money in various guises. Pretty certain Webcke wouldn't have been playing for peanuts in his prime, same goes for Tallis, Civonociva, Thorn, Carroll, Gillmeister and Lazarus back in the day or Gillett and Thaiday (when he was a good player) more recently. Unca Wayne is full of s#%# as he has demonstrated plenty these last few years.
Can see what you are trying to say though mate, not having a shot at you, but Wayne isn't as thrifty and resourceful as he likes to make out- there is always plenty of filthy lucre to throw around at the Broncos.

True that… they say one thing and do another, he made that statement back at the knights, I think he was kind of suggesting forwards are one dimensional three are worth the price of one or something like that, unlike a Thurston for example who is one in a million..lol

Playerswill stay at a club if it suits them too.
If they're happy with the money, if it suits them and their families and it's the best thing for both, or even a better place to live in , they like playing under the coach, or they have security in the team , there's a lot of reasons.
A lack of those conditions( or combinations of those reasons) is a probable and legitimate reason for a player to also Leave a club. But from my experience if a players family aren't happy, it's only a matterof time before they'll leave.

To say that a one club player is putting his club first because he stayed, is pretty simplistic.
As I already stated, there are lots of reasons that players will stay for and if most or all those conditions apply then it's likely that they wouldn't want to leave.
once again if the player and/or his family, isn't happy, why wouldn't / shouldn't he go .

Players have a responsibility to do whatever they contracted to do. That's where their responsibility to a club ends
As for Woodsie, , maybe if he had the chance over, he may have handled his last couple of months differently, . He certainly has tried to do that recently.
He might not be perfect, unlike those of us on the forum
