One six and seven

I really don’t see that Benji has won us any more games than if JR was playing instead. And I don’t think anyone will pay out his contract. For these reasons I would give him the nod for next year. He will also be playing for his next contract

I’d go with this. I think Madge has forgotten that the halves is where he offers the most.

I hate to say it but I think I would try to move Brooksy on. He has stagnated and I think he needs a new environment. He is a classy player but I think he needs the right type of coach. Cleary seemed to get so much more out of him than Madge who appears to be a disciplinarian. I think Clubs would most likely look at him and maybe Mbye.

I reckon JRey could go to England but Rusty is probably here to the end of his contract.

Our halves are part of the problem, but there are a lot of others:
- the lack of grunt in the forwards means we are always running against a set defensive line
- our forwards are bludgers. I am not sure if it is a perception, but would like to see some stats on the percentage of hit ups our backs take compared to other clubs
- there is no spark in our backs. That is probably because they are signed and selected not for what they bring in attack, but how well they can do the forwards job of making metres
- our structure is poor. One out running, no players in motion, we seem unable to cause uncertainty in the oppositions defence and isolate weak defenders. Our attack looked ok at 2 points last night, when Huth was offloading before the line & when Blore introduced some 2nd phase play.
- our kicking game is terrible. However because of the above we are rarely in a position for attacking kicks. Midfield bombs are pointless, the only backs that regularly drop bombs play for us. Find the sideline and give the few middle forwards we have left a break.

Possibly. At least if we can't attract a suitable replacement for Marshall, Madden doesn't have to endure a long drawn out build up of stress. Let him in with no pressure on the result to gain some experience and traction with his probable halves partner
Spot on Rustycage

Get the spine settled as first priority, then the back row forwards along with big wingers. WT have none of the spine settled although it looks like Liddell as 9 for next season. The others can all be replaced by someone new.

Get a halves coach and better middle forwards.

No point shifting deck chairs. There is a reason why all 4 halves we’ve tried have looked terrible.

Yes, I see the need for a season-hardened forward or two, to lead the way with our young pack. A Josh Maguire-type who has a bit of mongrel about him but is consistent and reliable. It's not Packer, that's for sure. So, while our spine is in need of a re-furb, so are the forwards.

We need to find at least a half, fullback, prop and a couple of outside backs.

No small task if NRL plan to reduce Clubs playing squads and funding eventuate.
First priority is to move the high$ players and development players that aren’t in our forward plans out of our 2021 roster.
Only that will create necessary cap space in terms of numbers and resources to begin real hunt for players Madge need for +2021 seasons.

If we are there than

10 players off contract this year and 13 next year
1.OLiver Clark - 1 yr deal same money
2.Matt Eisenhuth - gone
3.Robert Jennings - gone
4.benji marshall - gone
5.Sam Mcintyre - should be cheap sign him up on a 2 year deal
6.Chris Mcqueen - gone
7.Alex Seyfarth - 1 yr deal see what we can get out of another offseason
8.Dylan Smith - give him a chance 1 yr deal maybe
9.Elijah Taylor - gone
10.Chris Lawrence - retired

should free up a little money for a few players on 1 year deals till 2021 when we need to look for halfs before re-signing anyone on this team

Agree... and if he can’t hack it after 4 games tell him to pack his bags

Value? He’s a $400k player on $950k? How do you get value? Regardless of his position? We’ve all seen him play at 6, no better than 1,3,4, 7 or 9?

I don’t think we are going to be looking for a replacement for Marshall. I think he’s almost Winx odds to go around again.

Our biggest issue is actually AD.
Sure we get caught up in his ability to take a bomb but he stiffles our attack in a massive way.

90% it gets to him he runs slow and holds it, he doesn’t pass it, he doesn’t run with intent, he isn’t supporting & he isn’t a ball player.

It’s clear Madge has spotted this as the last 2 games he is playing Mbye at the back to change a few of these.

AD as a center or 5/8th won’t solve these problems either he just isn’t a spine class player or a delivery type player. He has potential yadda yadda but his natural play is to hold and run.

He tries hard but it is costing the team in a big way.

Yes Benji, Brooks, Mbye and Reynolds are terrible this year but the key signing for us also isn’t up to it either.

We'll get more value from Mbye if we send him to the Titans and continue to pay his full salary, and just put a no frills centre who can tackle and not rush up off the line. He offers no leadership, no defence, and definitely no attack. Sorry for the negativity, but I feel the club is being robbed to pay that money with no return at all.

1.Doueihi
2.Nofo
3.BJ (give the man early ball please he’s so destructive)
4.Talau (future star just give the kid time, centre is his spot)
5.AJ (mays well give him some good time, can see us signing JAC/saab next year to cement this wing down)
6.Mbye (Doueihi is safe but should continue to switch up roles in attack)
7.Brooks/madden/benji (very disappointing)
8.Aloiai
9.Grant (if we are a chance of keeping if not liddle)
10.Twal
11.leilua
12.Blore (love garner but if he’s the future might as well)
13.Mclntrye (old school ball playing lock)

14.Mikaele
15.huth/Musgrove when fit
16.Ganrer
17.Liddle

Really, what does it matter if Benji plays on. We’re struggling either way in 2021. The key is what we do with Packer and Reynolds money to set us up in 2022. We’re treading water till then.

Well still prefer that Benji retires surely we can bring someone in that can tackle better than him.

Most i agree with however the following comments,
1.OLiver Clark - No use having a 1 year deal.
2.Matt Eisenhuth - Consider keeping
7.Alex Seyfarth - Nah don't rate him
8.Dylan Smith - Dylan who give him a run to see if he has not made the run on side this season is he worth keeping?

Rest of comments spot on, see what Madge does and really Hope that Benji retires.

I would be trying something different with him and dropping him out of the side for the remaining rounds and giving someone else an opportunity.
Shuffling around all season always means someone else is playing out of position. Make a statement Madge by dropping your captain.
