Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

Absolute garbage response from our club, you either cheated the cap or you did not. Pascoe needs to grow a pair.

Not really, it's like admitting to manslaughter instead of murder. We accepted that we broke the rules but that it was not intentional. We cop a reduced penalty and move on.

Don't think they got off that lightly. Still have a huge fine and will have to shed a player before the season starts.

I think they have more to worry about than salary caps at the moment. Glad they had the guts to stand down the scuzzy players on assault charges. To be honest, I think Musgrove should be stood down also - he and Walker are both repeat offenders. God knows why we even signed this bloke with his history.

i find it hard to see how we copped a $350,000 odd thousand to our cap for two years, the same as the sharks, who where caught cheating with multiple players and over a 2-3 year period. in reality the sharks got of with a feather penalty compared to what we copped.

I'm glad it's all been reduced, penalty and for Pascoe, but it should never have been as harsh as it was to begin with….........still think it's over the top under the circumstances.

They had better smack the Sharks extremely hard and the Storm with this whole Cam Smith thing.

Nah, doesn't wash with me as it was never about getting more and/or better players to fit into our cap, nor a calculated and systemic rort. The CEO mutters that it is all about fairness and then a day later hands out what is still a whopping penalty, for something that had reasonable public knowledge and has not even been finalised.

Half the salary cap fine may have some merit as it was obviously a transgression of the rules, but I can in no way accept this penalty being even close to fair.

As far as im concerned the line in the sand has been drawn. Now I'll be expecting consistency from the NRL in terms of clubs agreements with retiring players.

It does seem as though we have been treated unfairly in comparison to the Sharks but in retrospect the cap penalty is in direct relation to the amount of the contract that has been deemed illegal.
Ours being a contract for one player Robbie Farah worth $639,000.
And the Sharks being;
Multiple 3rd party contracts for multiple players totalling $750,000.

The difference in the severity of the charges is not the cap penalty but the fine to the club.

Anyway we are now known as salary cap cheats. Usually success follows clubs that have cheated the cap!

I guess the benefit from all this is that if Farah does not agree to work with the club once he retires. It’s $639,000 we actually save in wages.

Disgusting.
Farah should come out today and say he is not taking the ambassadors role - and we should ask for our salary cap to be restored.
Nothing to stop them offering Robbie a coaching assistant role AFTER he retires.

Agree 100% we got rorted completely, all we got was 50% off our fine. Big deal, we still get slugged $638k cap penalty over 2 years and our CEO is sanctioned for 6 months for an absolute non event.

We continually get shafted by the NRL. I say take them to court and embarrass them and ensure that Greenberg and Beattie have to fall on their sword.

And Cronulla gets bugger all penalty

There's no doubt even with the suspended sentence and spreading out of the fine, plus Pascoe getting benched for 6 months we still got harshly punished. I'd love to be privy to the full explanation as to why from the NRL i doubt that will happen though.

Cronulla systematic rorting get off relatively light in comparison to us, i also find it hard to believe they were cap compliant for the one season they happened to win the comp, and others either side of it not.

agree that we are still lacking a complete explanation from both the NRL and the club about what the hell happened. I still dont understand it.

Some clarity, especially from the club , would be good. What was the misinformation Go talked about?
