Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

I wouldn't assume that the club's comments there were genuine. Just that those words were the most sensible words to say at this juncture of proceedings.

I still don't feel that we intentionally cheated. (Though of course I don't know what really happened)

Until one of the Board members sticks there head out of the widow and shouts I AM AS MAD AS HELL AND I WON’T TAKE IT ANYMORE this club will always be the NRL’s door mat!

Yes they did and this would of been part of the deal to have the sanctions being reduced

So I guess that rules out Gallen ever being called a drug cheat again around here, as that is his supports argument to a tee.

Our club today admitted to misleading the NRL, cheating the cap, hiding a contract from the NRL. I am pissed at the people in our club who put us in that position. People here still want to play the victim, but we can't, we admitted it!

We admitted it?

Some people in our club made the wrong decision. That decision was against the rules. Technically the NRL are calling it cheating, and we admitted to this.

But putting us in the same category as Bulldogs, Storm, Sharks (and I'm sure Broncos and Roosters) who deliberately cheat just doesn't feel right. I'm not saying that you're saying this mate, and yes you're right, we're no victim here (though NRL are gunning for us).

We have to get smart, and find a way (preferably without cheating) to compete,

I would still like of full explanation of what the hell happened. It still has not been explained.

I doubt we will get that, as an admission will probably result in it not being discussed further.

Agree. Same feelings towards those that put as in this position to begin with.

In our admission the only thing we said was it wasn't intentional.
There was no indication that there isn't a deal.
There was not indication it was an unsigned contract
There was no indication the role wasn't or hasn't been taken up
There was no denial of the contract being hidden
There was no denial of the Tigers misleading the NRL

The only conclusion that can leave is that all of the above that the NRL accused us of is TRUE.

And in saying all that, I will support and love this club till the day I die, but this is a hard day to be a Wests Tigers fan.

Interesting stuff being said I wonder if it was so black and white I cant decide why would the NRL reduce all the penalties by 50% just before the season kicks off after 5 weeks to have a think.

Maybe Todd felt bad that we are so bad at trying to cheat.

Maybe both parties want a path of least resistance and to look like they "had a win"

My issue is the NRL gave us similar punishments to a club cheating the cap for multiple years while winning a premiership during that time.

You'd have to think Marina Go won't last 3 months after Pascoe returns

She must look at the way the NRL does business with absolute bewilderment

In the real world this spends 2-3 years in a court

I am not happy with the Sharks punishment either, but its hard as the Salary Cap reduction needs to reflect the size of the breach dollar wise. So I would assume that the sharks multitude of breaches equates to about the same as our single breach. Ours is a huge breach when applied to one player.

We screwed up things with JT and Robbie. I believe the Board okayed turfing Robbie out. Then realising how it affected the fans and the playing group and saw that they had made the wrong decision in backing the coach. Pascoe came on the scene, tried to fix it. Heal the relationship, with Robbie. Offered him the position. Robbie still hasn't accepted, but in hindsight I guess that doesn't matter. He can accept it whenever he wants, which is why the NRL got their knickers in a knot when we didn't officially tell them. Even though the deal that public knowledge. NRL should have approached us about it. We should have approached them.

Years later NRL came knocking, cam gunning for us, and we panicked, realising that maybe we screwed up, we tried to do a half-attempt at a cover-up.

I want to know why now did the NRL come knocking. The NRL is clueless, and only come knocking after someone goes to them. Unless they are responding to our own press statements made 3 years ago…

How the NRL does business? this was our stuff up, we are at fault, we admitted it.

I honestly believe that this blew up because we re-signed Robbie, once he came back it properly caused the NRL to take a closer look at his exit from the club.
