Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

If you set a fine you stick to it if you know your 100 % right

So why change it for …...

NRL has a billion dollar business and can only make a 46 million return

Business in the real world is done far differently and far more professionally

$639k for Farah to hand out flyers and to liaison with corporates was the biggest joke to start with .

I think we would have to be a little naive to think he is getting that much just to spend time with corporate on gamedays.

For starters, I'm not sure it is a Billion $ business.

They also have a history of lowering preliminary fines.

Someone said it was to compensate him for a TPA that would fall through should he leave the club. Makes sense, otherwise that amount is ridiculous.

Annoying that whoever at the club (Psacoe ?) didn't realise that it would get us into trouble like it has. It's nothing like the clubs that deliberately cheated, it annoys me though as it seems like it was just incompetence.

Yeah, I doubt we will ever know what it was for but I think it was either to cover loss of TPA or just as an incentive to leave.

We need to come out hard this year, smash the other teams. Go hard in middle, and finish strong. Finish 6th or 5th, win at least 2 finals games. Earn some respectability. No excuses.

Some people in our club made the wrong decision. That decision was against the rules. Technically the NRL are calling it cheating, and we admitted to this.

But putting us in the same category as Bulldogs, Storm, Sharks (and I’m sure Broncos and Roosters) who deliberately cheat just doesn’t feel right. I’m not saying that you’re saying this mate, and yes you’re right, we’re no victim here (though NRL are gunning for us).

We have to get smart, and find a way (preferably without cheating) to compete,

In our admission the only thing we said was it wasn’t intentional.
There was no indication that there isn’t a deal.
There was not indication it was an unsigned contract
There was no indication the role wasn’t or hasn’t been taken up
There was no denial of the contract being hidden
There was no denial of the Tigers misleading the NRL

The only conclusion that can leave is that all of the above that the NRL accused us of is TRUE

Wow. I'm glad you're not a lawyer. You'd fail any high school essay with that logic.

I have to disagree with some of the comments here. Pascoe made an honest mistake and admitted it. He could have pursued the severity of the penalty via the judicial system but instead chose to cop it for the sake of the club. He has sat back allowing the NRL to paint him as a criminal so we can put this behind us and move on. There is only one game in town and you play by their rules or get out. Sometimes it takes more guts just to do nothing.

In the clubs statement they have agreed there is a deal they should have disclosed and included in the cap.

The NRL accused the club of entering the deal, of hiding the deal, of hiding the contract and of misleading the NRL.

The club at first strongly denied these actions, we have now actually apologised for those denials and accepted the NRL's findings. I don't know how else it can be viewed then we have admitted that we were in the wrong.

Nothing that was released today, by the NRL or by our club confirms that as being true.

Hang on, maybe we didnt follow proper protocol, but no way were we hiding anything. It was openly in the press.

The NRL 100% claimed we were hiding the contract, they claimed we misled them, We claimed there was no deal. Now after seeing the NRL evidence we agree with their findings. The club has actually apologised to the NRL. We admitted fault today and didn't deny any part of the NRL's claims, that is accepting guilt.

We mentioned in the press a possible deal 12 months before it was apparently entered into. There was no mention by the Tigers of the deal in the press once it was entered into.

I honestly think the fines are respective of cap position.

It was well known we had large cap space with no one really available to buy so We were handed a big fine. Sharks will be fined exactly enough so they have to get rid of anyone, same with Storm as well if they get fined.

With all the talk, no way guys like Smith and Johnson are going to sit on the sidelines because of NRL sanctions

Even from an RLPA perspective, the players would revolt against having high-level players sitting on the sidelines or forced relocations.

That's why they don't have standard fines for breaches. They want to look like they are harsh and strictly policing the rules, without actually causing any stress.

The article in the NRL website states It was signed as leverage to leave the club back in 2016\. If this is true then it should have been included in the cap for that year.

It shows that we have done something wrong and have to live with the consequences for the next 2 seasons with the penalties imposed. I believe the size of the penalty is harsh compared to the Sharks as they have paid money into a dummy company so that it could be set up as a TPA supporter.

I don’t believe even if they have self disclosed the underhanded process that to me is systematic cheating by the board and club. I appreciate they may state that the board has changed but that is only a technicality.

Consistency is really the issue here as I can accept we have made an error and as a CEO he should have disclosed it. I look forward to him being back in June however because he will be keen to pay the club back as well as the NRL.

A woman in Marina Go showed more integrity and courage than the rest of the board combined(75% useless magpies and 25% useless balmain appointments)If she does leave we have lost a hell of a lot more than just this appeal we will have lost our best CEO and Chairperson in the last 50+ years.
I am disgusted that the club rolled over and meekly submitted to accept a reduced sentence from Cardinal Greenberg.Pascoe and Go have been the best 2 things to happen to our club and we should have fought with every thing we have to keep them. The rest of the board should resign immediately for folding like a deck chair.
Integrity is the key factor in any business to be succesfull. The NRL certainly dont have it and after the Quislings on the board rolled over nor do we.We need people with backbone and not marshmellows at the club

Have I got this right? Farahs effective cap hit should have been (according to to the NRL): Ambassador role $639k, Tigers paid $750k for him to play at Souths and Souths paid him $150k. Total of $1.539 million.
