Pascoe sanctioned by the NRL

The punishment seems excessive for the reported ‘crime’ - there has to be more to this than the reported circumvention attempt, especially given that discussion was all in the public space at the time.

The guy with Greenberg said they asked for and were given by WT a copy of a signed contract, game ,set, match I’d say

Wests Tigers Statement

At 8am this morning the NRL informed Wests Tigers that it is issuing a preliminary breach notice in relation to an ambassador agreement with Robbie Farah.

The club is shocked with the decision and extremely disappointed in the process.

It is an arrangement that Wests Tigers had with Robbie that is unrelated to his career as a player. The club does not know if he is going to take it up and Robbie has not indicated his intention in return.

The reason the ambassadorship was offered in November 2015 is that then new CEO Justin Pascoe felt that the club had disrespected Robbie and this was a way to show him the respect that Justin felt he deserved as a Life Member and club legend due to the overwhelming support Robbie had at the time from Members and fans.

Most importantly Wests Tigers derive absolutely no advantage from this arrangement. It is not tied in any way to Robbie’s playing contract.

Wests Tigers are particularly concerned about the wrongful attack on the integrity of the club’s CEO. For the last three years Justin has shown nothing but respect for the NRL and the salary cap.

The club will be vigorously defending this.

On a more constructive note, would anyone be interested in exploring how we could get a group together to watch games away from the ground, maybe at Ahfield, make a donation in lieu of admission and have this passed on entirely to the football club.

I'm no longer interested in membership if the NRL gets 1c from my contribution, but want to see initiatives where I can directly support the club and make sure the team knows we support them.

I'm shocked. What is the point of following this competition? Who is it for? Just a few out of touch "leaders"? Rich and powerful clubs?

Personally I'm no longer interested in watching a game that is becoming a circle jerk for a bunch of self interested egomaniacs.

Yeah, I'm afraid this will do me. Looks like the NRL are trying to reduce the number of teams in the competition to a few big, well financed clubs.

I thought this news was meant to be not catastrophic?

Jebus…

We've gone through this already. When I classified it as bad not catastrophic I was thinking more about the issue at hand (I.e. the cap issue) and not the impact on club officials. I'll think more carefully about my language usage in future...

Pascoe should have just covered up one of his star players bashing his missus … instead of being de-registered he would have been promoted to NRL CEO.

Woops!

Time for Brydens to flex their muscle. Absolute dumb decision by the NRL. Pascoe is a breath of fresh air and they are letting him walk..or should I say telling them to walk.

As GEO said we need to make a lot of noise at HQ

Well the nrl has just lost A life long supporter of the game
We have been trying to get back up off the ground for 7 years and just as we are getting up they sink the Steel cap boots in
Well done NRL and Greenberg
I'll come back when the NRL is serious about a fair and even competition
At 50 years of age I have had enough of their crap
Time to find another interest
See ya people

I'm sure WT will avail themselves of the best legal advice available but, if it was me, I'd get the best silk money can buy and attempt to take the NRL on through the conventional legal system rather than the NRL's own processes. The NRL and its predecessors have a terrible win / loss record when the courts deal with them and this could be another sorry chapter for them. It really is about time WT stood up for themselves and took the league on head on.

Can I suggest one of the mods update the title of this thread? NRL announcement doesn’t really indicate what the discussion here is about

Women are getting bashed and raped by NRL players. Coaches spitting on the contracts they sign. Teams are proven perennial cap cheats. Gould and Politis spit in the face of the game constantly.

Then there's us, offering a job to a life member and we get this from the NRL????
